My 2015 Suburban has AFM. It failed right after a recall fix. The dealer diagnosed it and it would cost $3000+. Also they wouldn’t delete the AFM. I installed software and have not any problems for over two years.

I have 2009 truck with ls enginedeleted it with a tuner about 13 years ago never had any prblem

Whew too much what if and what about. Do or don’t do. I believe that the best engine performance is in 8 cylinder. Having the disabled engine to 4 cylinder is a radical change. From an engine purring on 8 cylinder. Also that feature 4 cylinder, has caused accelerating oil consumption. I have the Range override plugged into computer port.

2017 silverado 5.3 engine. I've had the range Disabler 6 months after my new purchase, with zero problems. I purchased 8 cylinders for a reason, I don't want 4 or 6 simple. GM needs to Add a switch to let the consumer decide how he or she wants to run their vehicle. This way, they still abide by government standards !

Common sense. I turn the DOD off all the time. The engine is made to run fine with it off or on ( until a lifter fails and one will with it on ). Think about it the factory turns it OFF more percent of the TIME than ON. The lifter can't stick down if it is not actuated. Now, they can fail other ways. The same as regular lifters.

The short answer is yes. That’s because the computer tells the engine when to activate AFM, so all you have to do is rewrite that portion of the code essentially. That means the system will never activate and you are left carrying hardware under the hood you won’t use.

Ok, I understand what you are looking for and I think you're overthinking it a little. I lost a lifter at 6,200 miles under warrantee, the lifters and the whole top of the motor was replaced including the oil solenoids, direct injection fuel pump, piping and injectors, you don't want to pay for that. Bottom line when you look at a breakdown of a DOD lifter it works just like a normal lifter until it latches under oil pressure and is held collapsed. I have a 2015 Silverado and when it hit 100,000 miles I installed a DOD Eliminator into my ALDL (OBD2) port to disable the function, it cost 50 bucks on Scamazon. If the AFM lifters aren't enabled they don't latch and continue to act as normal lifters having no detrimental effect on the engine, they just sit there doing their thing coasting along. After 35,000 miles no problems, just a fraction less mileage. Benefits ? No lag as the engine tries to switch between modes, the transmission shifts smoother and slightly firmer, again no lag. Better response and just tighter operation, the engine just feels like it is happier and no weird operation when the AFM, hung trans shift and Stabilitrak are trying to figure what to do. The engine is returned to full V8 operation all the time.

My MK IV is at the same place as yours. Getting ready to pull the body for sanding the difficult areas and bed lining the underside. Very curious what product you'll select and the challenges you'll discover. I've been driving mine for several months and have been reluctant to pull the body because of the fun factor. Central Texas heat is climbing, so it is probably a good time to take it off the road for a while.

When you're sanding paper fills up because of something stupid like that wet sand it it will help

Another reason I will use the old school small block chevy, without all those freaking wires. And the wiring harness that comes with the kit will fit what I need with a good wiring schematic. Of course I will be ordering the 35 Truck. Ron USCG RET

y I will me ordering a new Blue Print engine with Trans, when I order my kit. The right pan will be on the engine and no messing around with having to adapt to fit. For me it is worth the extra money not top have to worry. Ron USCG RET

What if I do a dod afm delete like non afm lifters pushrods and non afm cam basically regular afm delete but without tune would this work rather than just tuning it give me advice up in the comments it’s 5.3 gen 4 08 Sierra
