Nashville-TN. Hey VRM. Likewise bought a used Goldwing 6 months ago. 2002 Illusion Blue. Changes from blue to purple in front of my eyes. 80,000 miles. A motorcycle rider since a kid wanted to try a different type of ride in my older years. Drove to Miami to trailer back home. Bike appeared was in excellent condition and for the most part was/is. However once home & began to drill down on bike it needed some serious TLC. I'm mechanically inclined yet fortunately a neighbor is retired Honda Goldwing mechanic. He worked his magic & bike is really dialed in now. Cost me some schillings yet worth it. Headlight to taillight. Yes, the air filter as I believe a 4 hour gig. Geez! The new Shinko rear tire had a huge bubble on the bead & replaced. Bought bike to cruise back to Kalifornia where I escaped 3 years ago. Now planned for 2025. Looking at a 6,000 mile trip want the bike to be solid. I've ridden the bike probably 500 miles since bought & is a blast to ride. Huge & heavy bike yet should be fun on my west coast solo trip. Cheers!
The Air Filter on the earlier GL1200 can be replaced in less than 2 Minutes without the need for Tools.
They were onto something...😂
@@MarcRitchie 😁
Wagner "Flight of the Valkyries" LOL. You are very correct that the "big" touring bikes are not what they used to be. Folks are really underestimating them as "sport touring" bikes today. I bought my last bike, before I have to go tryke, last year a 2024 Road Glide with a 117ci engine. Boy does it go and handle the turns! I can say that with some authority as I grew up in southern WV and love to run the turns.
It was close, but Wagner prevailed over the 1812 Overture.😁Thanks for watching and the comment, Warren!👍🙂
You're absolutely right! The roads are beautiful and scenic and can get lost out there. My wife and I spent about 3 days and stayed in Elkins. Visited Blackwater Falls State Park Seneca Ro KS and the Canaan Valley. We rode 250, 92, and 219 back. We loved riding the mountains around and through Monterey and the valleys were some soght. We'll definitely be back next year!
Thanks so much for checking out the vid and the nice comment! Let us know when you'll be back. We'd love to show you around the place.😁
Delighted to find this site. I live in Shenandoah County just north of the area in this video. Back on a bike after 10 years away, ride into WV a lot, nice roads, little traffic.
Glad you found the channel and thanks for taking the time to post a comment! There may be a road or two here you may find of interest if you haven't already checked them out. It really is some of the best riding anywhere. Cheers!
I always thought it was from the crowning in the road but also left turns do kinda make sense also
Hey thanks! Heading to Cass in September and I was looking for info on this lodge.
Nice vid, Ya sling that big wing around really nicely with perfect lane placement too, really great to watch. Your audio is well set up and makes for a good listen. Our roads down under in Aotearoa-New Zealand are full of the tight twisty stuff and usual nasties associated, trail braking is an absolute must. My wing has numerous road grazes down the under belly tray, exhaust tips, stand and worn off the peg sliders (chewed through two sets now), but ya can't beat throwing these big rigs through the tight stuff as is very rewarding and always makes for silly big grins. Shiny side up man, keep up the awesome video's, have subscribed. Cheers Anaru.
Really appreciate the kind words and subscribing! Cheers M8!!
You just helped me plan a cycling route! Thank you!
Glad we could help and thanks for watching!😀
A great ride .... awesome views and lots of curves! Just subscribed.
Thanks so much Warren!😄
The restaurant is open
Good to know, thanks. Will have to check it out next time.
Lay in the pool 😂
Do you really want to see THIS in a speedo?😂
You should have filmed the ride when we rode that road earlier this year.
We can hook up on the next one. Timber Ridge or Bland Hills?
Go to the hardware store
That's a good one! What did you get?
@@virginiaridermagazine can’t remember but I have done beer run’s.
@@hankjordan2602 Yeah, those tour packs come in very handy for that.😅
Always look forward to your videos, even when you completely lose the plot. KJ.
Thank you KJ! We can almost guarantee there will be more moments like this.😂
The view from Raven’s Roost overlook is amazing
One of our favorites as well.👍
Well Done Mark! I've ridden that road and you've made me realize how much I miss riding in Virginia.
Thanks so much Jen! 😀
Very nice
Thanks for watching!😀
Cool man. Love all things Highland Grandparents had the mountain house in Monterey growin up. Magical
Makes me want to stop my chores and head over there right now! Looks like I need to create a route in Rever to connect some of these roads you show us for a full day of riding!
Come on out Ed!
Another must ride road!
Thanks Ed!
I was going to ask if you would like to ride these roads. But you beat me to it.
Perhaps you know of a few more:)
@@virginiaridermagazine I’m working on it will let you know.
The list of must ride roads over your way just keeps growing. I'll have to watch all of the videos again and them compile a route to hit them all when I am over that side of the hill next time. Thanks for showing yet another gem!
Thanks as always Ed and we're just getting started:)
Need to ride Reed’s creek road all the way though if you make a right it will take you to Upper Tract.
We'll check it out and maybe there will be a Reeds Gap II.
That’s my kinda ride right there dude! I totally agree that riding it the other way would be more fun but you’d miss out on the extravagant views…gonna keep this one in the pocket for later for sure!!
Let us know when you want to head up this way. Not only do we like to show folks the roads, but we also like to cook and grill.
Beautiful ride! Dean's Den sounds like a great destination as well as the observatory....road trip! Great job Marc :)
Thank you Kelly!😀
Ice Cream!!! You know I will try it out. A group of guys in Charlottesville I ride with are looking for places over there to ride. Thanks to you I’ll have many “Gems” to Share with them.
Glad to be of assistance. We're only getting started.😁
Is it possible to turn up the volume.
There are usually three separate clips to a video and the levels may be off a touch from each other. At this time there are no audio meters in use as a guide. It's all done by ear. We'll get there eventually.
What an awesome ride! Beautiful views & lots of great riding.... Well done!
I have got to get out there soon and hit the roads! Yes, that view to the left is smack dab beautiful.
The intro was actually videoed on the side of Wimer Mountain Road near Blue Grass a few miles from Moyers Gap Road. It's stunningly beautiful. One of my fb friends from Edinburg says it reminds her of the Scottish Highlands. Thanks for watching!
That is neat about the water shed!
Thanks for watching Ed!😀
I have rode that route many time bike, cage and used it to travel it for many years going to work.
Thanks for watching Henry!😀
For 30 years working at the dam I would travel that route to have a different scenery.
Thanks for watching Henry!
Got up early today and I rode with a group from Richmond to Williamsburg on the Nickle and Dine (route 5 and route 10). Ate lunch at Jamestown and back home by route 10. Then highway back to the house as rain was closing in on me. Never got wet. About 300 miles total. I need to get over to your neck of the woods and out of the flat-Lands real soon. Ride Safe!
Anytime Ed. We'd love to give you a .05 and .10 tour of our own. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the ride along Marc! Looking forward to riding with you, Rose and Hank this summer! Some place, somewhere.
And we as well! Thanks for watching Ed!😀
👍
It is can hear you just fine.
Thank you Henry!
Thanks Marc for showing us a new route! I am looking forward to experiencing this route in person.
Thanks for watching Ed!😀
