Stop talking and tie the knot.
OK… did you learn anything?
In my experience, this is the best knot to use for fly fishing or most any other kind of fishing where you don't need an open loop knot. I have completely forsaken the clinch knot for the Pitzen. it's much stronger than the clinch knot.
I must agree with you! The only knot that I have found better is the Eugene bend and it is quite similar. I still use the clinch knot for attaching droppers but tie the Pitzen to the dropper itself.
Thanks for doing these with tippet. So many use thicker material that makes tying easier. You're giving real world examples plus tips on finger position. For a new fly fisher....extremely helpful!!
Thanks for watching! Finger position makes it much simpler (and practice)
Very helpful - thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Very clear explanation of how to create this knot. I have always had difficulty with this knot, but I was able to tie this knot easily after watching this demonstration.
Glad it was helpful! There are always tips and tricks to make things easier to accomplish. Hand positioning is the key to knots!
This is a great knot to have on the stream.
Agree! My preferred knot by far!
Seems same as a SD Jam knot, just3 wraps instead of 6
Slightly different as you don’t pass through the loop near the hook eye first. SD Jam knot is for heavier lines. Thank you for your comment and interest.
Happy to learn about this knot. Easy to follow guide.
Thank you! Glad you find the guide easy to follow.
I've watched MANY "16-20" Videos.....Yours is outstanding ! Thank you ! Hand/finger position !!!!!
Thank you! Teaching fly knots for 25 years one finds what works for consistent strong knots!
Good Stuff! Lol 🤘🏼
Thanks! 😁
Great job
Did a bit more but thought I’d leave it in the can as it was more of the same with double hook ups. Fun day and lots of giggles!
Really like this concept. Only comment would be to consider finishing the head much sooner in the process. It would speed up the rest of the wire wrapping if the bobbin wasn't hanging there the whole time. And thank you for your continued support of our Project Healing Waters program in Montrose, Colorado!
You are absolutely correct! Why didn’t I think of that?
Mine started working
It definitely gets their attention even when they miss it on the take. When that happens I call it a giggler as that is what I am doing while fishing it!
Well done. Master tier
You are too kind!
I'm going to have to put a few in my box. Thanks for sharing chief. ✌️
You’re welcome! I’m pleasantly surprised how the fish have responded to this micro minnow in the ponds.
Thanks
You are welcome! Hope you can use even one thing to make your tying easier.
@FishGod1 definitely, I'm a beginner and this was very helpful
So simple n yet looks very fishy. God Bless n Fish on
Thanks for watching!
Hi from Rolla MO 🎣🤠 I liked your leach. Good job!!. When I tye mine I put a piece of mono#8lb in the under the body dining then poke a hole on the tail push it through, pull the tail out of the way and melt a ball of the mono. This will keep it from getting foiled around the hook. Sure works for me. Good health for you and your's Dave Hughes
I do the same thing with salt water flies or a loop of hard mono to keep fouling from being an issue. Thank you for the kind words.
Nice one
Thanks for watching
How do you tye a fly with such big fingers?? I got some size 22 s and after dropping the first 3 hooks to the carpet lost forever. Thanks for your time and knowledge.
Thanks for your question David. It’s not so hard to tie with big fingers once the hook is in the vice, getting it there is another story. I magnetized my tying scissors to select one hook from a package then carefully transfer to right hand then into the vice. If I loose control of a small hook it usually happens if I have to switch hands or trying to manage more than one hook at a time. Great question though and maybe I will do a tips and tricks video on this in the future.
Nice one thanks
You are welcome
Great job. Awesome pattern
Thank you! 😊
Nice tie fly and running commentary as you work. Appreciate your efforts and gonna tie some.
Much appreciated!
Love this! Thanks for making the difficult look easy.
