My husband and I used to do that we called it curb shopping
I love it❣ That is the best name ever. It is already stuck in my head, lol. I feel like this type of adventure has been renamed😅. I will have to credit you for the phrase if I say it because I don't think I can forget it
Hi. Curiosity question, with the price of copper the way it is, why do you not gram the cords and wires as you go? Up here in Alberta, if it's not in the garbage can they don't take it. Whoooole lot different in the States.
That is a good question. We do like to take valuable scrap sometimes, but since we mainly make our living off of the reselling part of the business, resale items get priority. I think it's more like that when we are most busy - when it's harder to find time to get to the scrap yard. There are some communities around here that are like that with the garbage that isn't in the can. Luckily for us, there are still a bunch around here that let people put things outside of the can
Another cool video 😊 you invest a lot of time and gas so it is good to see how much you can possibly make at the end of the day. Good luck with your future search for treasures 😊
Thank you!!! I agree about the time and gas. A lot of times, we choose to do other things before garbage picking because it feels less certain, too. I'm wondering if I should rethink that part - every time we finally do try, we find something good, lol
I always enjoy seeing what you guys find. Rich people throw out some of the nicest stuff at times . Just crazy on what people throw out.
Thank you! They really do throw out such nice stuff. I feel like I'm always saying or thinking that it it never stops being amazing what is in the trash. When we go out trash picking, sometimes I wonder if there will be anything good, but I think there has been something good every time
The curb side treasures were great. Always amazes me what people put in the trash. I usually donate my unwanted items to VVA. They will pick up at your house. That Salvation Army store was pretty good too. I live in Troy so I’ve gone to the ones in Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills. The Rochester store is decent but the Auburn Hills one not too great. I always enjoy your videos 😊
Thank you! I just got through saying almost the same thing as you about what people throw away. I think it will never stop surprising me. Near us, I think that Salvation Army store (it's the one in Plymouth) probably has the nicest stuff overall. There are some other good ones near us, though. When it comes to finding stuff to sell, a lot depends on getting there while the good stuff is still left, lol
People just throw all kinds of stuff out. That is a nice thrift store. We are in the Texas panhandle and the thrift store near us, 50 miles away, smells so bad that I can’t even shop there. Years ago I was trying to shop and when I came out of the store, I caught 2 men trying to break into my van. They cracked the small window on the side of my van. Broad daylight. What’s wrong with people.
They really do throw out all kinds of stuff, it never ceases to amaze me! I agree about that thrift store. They have always had so much nice stuff there. I think it is one of the nicest ones I've been to. That's a bummer about your thrift store ...and your van! It's so far to go for one that you don't even like (and still have to worry about security) . We do have some like that here, but at least there are a lot of other choices close by.
It's amazing what people throw away! Great finds again❣
Such great finds today. I keep saying that I'll always be amazed by what people throw away!
I take my hat off to you for going through the night and day, glad you managed to sell a lot and meeting so many people, good luck with the next one 😊
Thank you! It did end up being a very interesting experience, too. I think we'll definitely do that market again. It was also nice that people were buying both the nicer stuff and the cheap stuff.
Straighten up the piles when you're done for Christ's sake
Do you guys ever do the Armada Flea Market? It's quite large. It's closed now for the season but they will reopen in the spring.
We haven't, yet. Since we sold our permanent booth this summer, we can finally and actually get to more of the great flea markets! It's nice to hear another person mention Armada because that one is near the top of the list for markets to do this coming year.
@FlippinTheMitten it's a great market! I live near Alpena now but come down often and I'm sure I'll see you there eventually!
Maybe next year you guys need to sleep for two or three days before to prepare 🤣😂😅🤣
🤣🤣You are so right!🤣🤣 I've stayed up the night before the flea market a few times lately (trying to get work done) and was a little tired, but this time it caught up to both of us😅
It is so awesome that you guys know everyone. I hope this one makes you a ton of money. I want to see yall do the Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena
Thank you! And wow, the Rose Bowl flea market! What a great idea. I would love to do that! We have been talking for a long time about traveling to do flea markets, too. We were just discussing the logistics of it again a few days ago. I think it would just be so fun!!!
@FlippinTheMitten you will need a camper. Either to borrow one or rent one. You could do videos of the grand canyon, yellow stone, and mount Rushmore on your trip across country. Let youtube pay for your gas
Another great video,I am so glad I ran across your videos,I never miss any of them ..I love the both of you the way you interacte with each other and your customers 💞I have always wondered where your channel name came from(flippin the mitten)? If you can share that I would love to know❣️🥰
Thank you❣❣ I think reading comments like this is really the nicest thing about what we do! Believe it or not, picking a name was a hard thing to do. We actually had a number of choices, but deciding which one felt very difficult, lol. We ended up choosing this one thinking that it had multiple meanings. Mainly flippin as in selling or flipping thing. Mitten came from the nickname for Michigan (because of it's shape). An the whole thing together, Flippin the Mitten, just brought many pictures to mind. Like: searching all over Michigan, selling all over, maybe even waving or raising a ruckus, lol. I hope I remembered them all just now. I think that might be why we picked it, too. We kept picturing things it could mean😊😊
@FlippinTheMitten thank you so much for always taking the time to answer....very few do that ❣️🥰 til the next video ❣️💞🙏🏻
What a great day for you both good sales friendly people even though you both were tired you still laughed together hope you had a good meal and slept well thanks for sharing your day😊🎉🎉😊
Thank you so much! It really was a fun day. It makes it all seem so nice when I get to read something like this! 😊😊
You guys are so Flippin Funn! We just luv watching you...looks like a great place to sell!
Thank you so much! I love hearing that, it always makes my day! 😊
Look for all the fishing stuff.
I agree! I love Fishing stuff. It usually does good for us, too. This time, maybe because of the time of year or because I had it in a bad spot, but it didn't sell like usual.
That looks fun. I wish I could drive on the Racetrack 😂 Awesome video again!
Thank you so much!!! It really was fun! It was also a bit strange at the same time - which maybe made it even better, lol
Hi I enjoyed your video. Sue from Pinconning ❤
Hi Sue, Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it ...and thank you for stopping to say so!
@ you’re a nice couple and I like the way you get along and have fun while you’re working
I'm from Michigan and I know exactly where you're all there at. That is so cool I used to do flea markets in Virginia dumpster diving finds. Never been on a racetrack but that would be awesome
That’s really cool to hear from another Michigan native and flea market friend! It really was something special, being on that track all night. I should have started a count for all the times we said "weird" or "strange", we just couldn't stop, lol
Wow looked like so much fun and profitable! But I think you should change the name of the channel to, How about 1,2,3 dollars lol, btw you needed to go faster on the lap.
Thank you! It really was both. I'm so glad we finally went there. It was almost surreal being out there all night. It's funny you mentioned the 1,2,3 dollar thing. We've been talking about that a lot, especially after selling the permanent booth (most of the money there came from cheap stuff). We've been wanting to work more towards selling more valuable things at the markets (not just online). You might find this interesting(or obvious, lol)- we sold a mountain of stuff this time, but around 3/4 of the money came from just a handful of items
I should have added a count for each time we had to say weird or strange about this experience😂
What an interesting flea market experience!
It really was like no other for us!
those Kennedy boxes are probably worth more than the tools in them! Machinists/Toolmakers will snap them up!!
Thank you for saying that! I definitely agree. Probably due to the time of year, they are taking a little longer to sell than I expected. So, it's really nice to hear that someone else besides me thinks that, lol
Hi, I haven't been about for a few weeks but catching up again now. Good to see you both doing well since your changes, nice unit you got there with some nice profit, may it long continue 😊
Thank you so much! It's always good to hear from you. I think you are in the small group of the first few people that I got to talk to regularly back then. How nice!
Another great video guys loved seeing you two and alwayslo love watching whatever you are up too❣️🥰 keep on keeping on ❣️💞😊
Thank you so much❣❣I always love reading your comments❤❤❤
The book with the Bible, Jesus Calling is a devotional.
Thank you! Believe it or not we used to sell several thousand books a year, lol. That's why I appreciate your info, so much ...I love anything that helps me stay sharp
New follower. I noticed you set up a Whatnot account but you are not active. Did you not like it? That’s a great site but I noticed that ppl take such loses on their products. Guess it depends on the volume you want to sell.
Hi, I'm so glad you found us! Whatnot has been okay for us, so far. We both like it, but we just haven't had time to put into building it up. I think being on there regularly would help a lot. We do plan to put some more time into it soon (we're hoping to over the winter) but it's always hard to take time from the things that are already paying the bills like eBay, flea markets, etc
That one Harley looks like it might glow in the dark!
I didn't think of that! I'll have to check it out, if it's not already sold!
In Australia we used to have the 1cent and 2cent coin now we don't. We have 5c 10c 20c 50c 1 dollar and 2 dollar coins. Our bank notes are colourful and go $5 $10 $20 $50 $100 $500
It's strange when things like that change. I've heard talk about them getting rid of the 1c here, too. It would be interesting to see how pricing would look to accommodate having no 1c coins
I have heard talk about the dollar 💵 bill going away 🤔🤨
Enjoyed seeing you guys today lots of nice stuff you guys stay happy and laughing together see you 😀 🎉🎉😊
Thank you, so much! It's so nice to hear from you, too!!!
Awesome unit. That bolo , look them up...pricy
Thank you!!! I agree about the bolo, too!
I would have liked a better look at that Thunderbird bracelet with the oval turquoise stone. Great locker it was Dusty but wasn't filthy right??
Oh, thank you ...that's the kind of stuff we think about all the time. How to keep it moving along, but still give a look at the items. Especially the ones that people really want to see. So it's nice to hear which items are really important to get a good look at. You're right about the locker. It was dusty, some garage items were a bit dirty, but most of the things were not extra dirty. Everything smelled good, too. No bad odors at all, which is very nice
@@FlippinTheMitten no I think I had that bracelet once upon a Time.
Wow I am not going to comment on the 3 videos about the locker but wow has your channel has grown congratz on that but don't forget us who were here from the start :) also the running total nice add on. Wow just a nice grab ok I did comment on the locker
Thank you! I love getting all of your comments. It feels hilarious to say, but if our channel does grow really big someday, I can't imagine forgetting our handful of good friends that have been there with us from the start! We talk about it regularly, how cool it is that we have a few people like you that we really feel like are getting to be our old friends. Feels a bit funny to say it out loud, lol. It is true, though
Just a heads up on the Native American Bracelet towards the end its whats called Fred Harvey Native American jewelry and sell for $200 or more. @ 43:13 ts
Fred Harvey railroad jewelry made for tourist in the 30s and 40s visiting native american tribes via railroad.
Thank you for that! We do try to spend extra time on items like that. I don't think either of us has had time to find a makers mark, etc... So I guess what I'm saying is thank you for the jumpstart on the research!
Thank you for this added info, too. I absolutely love this type of background/ history
@@loridietrich2369 yeah
Awesome score y'all 👍🤓👍
Thank you once again, awesome friend!!!
What an amazing locker!
It really was the best!
Do you still have the pinkish large square scarf thing? If so I want to buy it please
We do still have it! I always remind people first to not put their address in the comments, just in case (sorry for the mandatory reminder, lol). There are a couple ways to get it to you, if you want. I would love for you to just have it. If you happen to be in the area we could just meet and hand it over. Otherwise, you could have it for the cost of shipping. We could also put it on eBay (if it's the easiest), but I think it has to have a price for the item (like $1 or something) plus whatever they charge for shipping
Nice final total 🎉 That was a great buy!
Thank You! It really was
❤❤❤❤😊
Thank you!!! I always look forward to these : ) Had to do an old school emoji from the keyboard, lol
Avon performs probably worth a bit
I bet you're right. I haven't checked into them in a long, long time ...I should do that again soon. I have been expecting Avon to start trending one of these days, lol
Great job Michiganders❣️🫶❣️
Thank you❣❣ it really was a great day! It renewed my enthusiasm for flea markets. I almost forgot how nice it is to sell at some of the better markets
@@FlippinTheMitten y'all did great👍🤓. Bobbi is a selling machine, hope she got a break n something in her tummy👍😋
That would make for a cute flea market shirt ...... One of us is the boss,,,, But I can take money $ too😁👍
Oooh, what a great idea! We used to keep a list of good ideas like that. I have no idea what ever came of that list😅
Wish I had Facebook, I'd of popped in. 👍. Ya had a great spot close to the front 👍
That would've been so fun to meet you! One of these days we'll get something out way ahead for everyone, lol. We are hoping that we'll get around Michigan to a wide area for flea markets, this year
I just discovered your channel, love trash picking vids and yours is one o my favorite channels to watch now after seeing this one, subscribed and look forward to watching every vid you've made and will make and liking every one
Wow, thank you!!! I'm so glad you found our channel! We are hoping to do another trash picking video as soon as possible, too. We were literally just talking about it. We do have at least one storage unit video and one flea market video that we have to finish first for sure
Dicky’s is a barbecue place. I give barbecue sauce gets an A plus for there sauce and they do sale jars of it. I’ve only seen them in Utah but I haven’t traveled in the last 7 years. This is the Old Granny from Wyoming again.
I've never been there. I've been meaning to check to see if they have opened one in our area. For some reason, I have been hearing about them for some reason. I'll be sure to try the sauce if they do, lol. It's been nice getting to talk to you again
The Windsor Northern Belle was a Casino River Boat on the Detroit River between Windsor Ontario Canada and Detroit Michigan USA! It's gone now. It's been replaced with Ceasars Windsor Casino! I'm a lifelong Windsorite! I've got a few of those coins myself. Cool!
That's cool, thank you! Now that you've said it, it sounds familiar. I was never going to remember that, lol. I'm going to have to look it up because I'm feeling like I will totally remember it when I see some pictures, etc...
The Santa setting in the chair is from Avon and it should also some little books that goes in Santa’s hand and when you do that it tells the story that the book is about. There should also be some accessories that sit on the wood base like a rocking horse, teddy bear 🧸, I think there’s one more but I don’t remember what it is. I think I paid between $30 & $50 for it and that was twenty years ago. Sorry it took me so long to get this to watch it. I’m subscribed to many things. It would take me 24/7 to watch every thing. I need to unsubscribe some of them but your not one of them. Coming from Wyoming you got the Old Granny a watching.
Thank you! I'm going to watch out for those other accessories that go with the Santa. I definitely understand about keeping up with the subscriptions, lol. I have a lot of favorites, too. On the bright side of that, at least there is usually something to watch whenever I'm ready🙂
@@FlippinTheMitten I finally remembered what the third item is a little rapped present, that looks like this 🎁, I don’t remember if I said anything about the stand that holds the story books 📚. By the time I have sent this message I hope you have found everything.
I worked at Walmart back in 2015 and there's a button on the register to convert Canadian money to US...a lot of Canadians come down here to buy clothes and food because Minnesota doesn't charge tax on either
That's interesting! I had no idea about that button (or that Minnesota had no tax on those things). We were talking afterwards about it and both of us could remember the first time a store refused to take Canadian coins.
Selle them for q doller. Make your money back
We do work hard to make our money back. This one turned out pretty good for that. We have made some pretty good profits, so far. It's been a while (a year or two) since we had one that didn't make much money
I would put some things away look them up but it would be nice to have a yard sale
We do end up having to look things up quite often. I do love your yard sale idea, still. It is just such a nice way to work
