SIGNALIS: A Love Letter to Survival Horror
"Great holes secretly are digged where earth's pores ought to suffice, and things have learnt to walk that ought to crawl."
SIGNALIS is a game that is both supremely confusing and intensely beautiful. In this video, we will examine the entire game, recapping the plot and analysing it as we go. It is a masterpiece that weaves together Soviet aesthetics, reality-bending psychological horror, and a haunting love story.
Welcome back to another video! So sorry for this taking a bit longer than the last few, but I hope I made up for it with it being an hour longer! The Brilliant, Terrifying Masterpiece of Termina
มุมมอง 209Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Fear & Hunger 2: Termina isn't just another horror game - it's a meditation on what happens when humans learn to systematize cosmic horror. Under its watching moon, fourteen strangers discover that surviving horror might mean becoming something worse than the monsters they fear. This video explores how Termina subverts traditional cosmic horror by suggesting that humanity's greatest strength - ...
Why SOMA is Gaming's Greatest Existential Horror
มุมมอง 35Kหลายเดือนก่อน
"Is there a heaven full of redunant copies of the same people? Is there someone up there who'd call me an imposter?" SOMA is a game that had a significant impact on me, and through this video essay, I want to try and explain - why? Through dissecting the narrative and it's themes, exploring the underwater tomb that is PATHOS-II, I seek to come to a conclusion on how exactly the game manages to ...
Fear & Hunger: The Lovecraftian Horror You Didn't Know About
มุมมอง 76K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
"If you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you" - this saying perfectly encapsulates the horrific world of Fear and Hunger. This game, in my opinion, is the epitome of what good Cosmic Horror can be and it is this idea that I will explore in today's video. By analysing the narrative, the gameplay and the general atmosphere, I will conclude on how exactly Fear and Hunger achieves...
DIGITAL XENOSCAPES: The Allure of Unknown Worlds
มุมมอง 5582 หลายเดือนก่อน
Space has always held undeniable allure over me, specifically the concept of Alien worlds and the promise of untouched lands, that I could be the first to discover. It is this concept in which I am exploring in today's video, looking at how the games Satisfactory, Subnautica and D*ad Space all use Alien Worlds to create appeal and intrigue, then analysing them to find out why exactly these alie...
The Beauty of Cyberpunk 2077's Fleeting Dystopia
มุมมอง 11K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cyberpunk 2077 stands as a game that, surprisingly, stood the test of time (even after the frankly disastrous launch). Still, there is an aspect of the game that is rarely talked about that I wish to discuss in today's video - the fleeting reality of the genre. In this video, I will explore how the game presents ephemerality, mainly through the narrative, recapping my thoughts on the game and e...
Fallout: New Vegas Is A Masterclass In Freedom
มุมมอง 4.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Fallout New Vegas is my, and many other people's, favourite game, but you may ask - why? In this video, I seek to explore the answer to this question through the pursuit of one theme - Freedom. Freedom of choice, gameplay and narrative are all essential parts of the New Vegas experience, and in this video, I seek to find out how exactly the game uses freedom. Through exploring the narrative, sp...
Elden Ring and the Allure of POWER
มุมมอง 6K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Elden Ring is undeniably both massive and one of the best games of all time and is a game that I have played since launch. It was my first Soulsborne game, which opened up the proverbial rabbit hole for me. But today, I am here to discuss the themes of the game - more specifically the theme of power and how it's presented throughout the narrative of Elden Ring. From the Frenzied Flame to the ne...
Ready or Not: The Most Realistic Shooter Ever Made
มุมมอง 8K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ready or Not as a game is often stupidly realistic, featuring essentially photorealistic graphics and other gameplay mechanics that honestly, are borderline real. But you may ask, is this level of realism necessary? Especially with Ready or Not attempting to handle extremely sensitive topics - is the pursuit of realism in games necessary to games LIKE Ready or Not. In this video, I seek to come...
Dark Souls - Finding HOPE In A World of Dark
มุมมอง 13K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Dark Souls is not a game that I would correlate with any ideas of hope, yet that is exactly what I am here today to discuss. In this video, I explore both Dark Souls 1 and 3 (including the Ringed City DLC) and how their narratives and atmospheres are filled with these ideas of hope. I dissect these games, analyse how they are hopeful, and conclude how exactly Miyazaki managed to integrate hope ...
Futility in Video Games - And Why It MATTERS
มุมมอง 1.2K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Futility is an often overlooked aspect when dissecting any media, despite it being such a fundamental aspect of life. In this video, I will analyse how certain games use futility/powerlessness - specifically Bloodborne, and Black Ops 1. Black Ops 2, Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4 zombies - to enhance the experience that they bring. I will also be looking at how this idea has permeated gaming as a ...
Space Marine Is Grimdark Done RIGHT
มุมมอง 2223 หลายเดือนก่อน
Grimdark truly is one of the hardest genres to do effectively and without being overly edgy, but I think that Space Marine (2011) is one of the rare examples of games that do it right. In this video, I will be exploring how the game effectively uses the Grimdark genre, whilst also giving a plot synopsis so you are ready for Space Marine 2's release on the 9th of September 2024. Welcome back to ...
Medieval Lethal Company Is A Masterclass in Co-Op Horror
มุมมอง 2343 หลายเดือนก่อน
This game is truly one of the co-op horror games of all time. PILGRIM is a game that is stylized similarly to games like Lethal Company, positing itself as the 'Medieval Lethal Company.' In this video, I will explore how the game effectively uses its mechanic to make a fun and engaging experience, whilst splicing in some gameplay of my own! Welcome back to another video, and once again, if you ...

ytbers: hours long analysis of fear and hunger some finnish guy with mental illness: haha i love drawing naked hanged men but i would NEVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER be a homo
the only "DIET-I"
The first thing i noticed about Isa that put me off is her "I hope you find who you're looking for", even though we never say anything to her. Its one of the first clues that something is off about not only her but even more so about the world itself.
I think ive watched every signalis lore vid on youtube at this point and ive gotta say this is easily one of the best ones, thank you for this
This game an 10/10, absolute peak. But i dont like the true ending. I was hoping for, something else. My complaint doesnt take away from the score at all. I think i just need a third game.
you are such a good writer nocap
Wake up babe, new hours long Signalis video essay just dropped
My sister is married to a rich guy and he gives her whatever she wants so she buys "designer bags and jewellery" but little does he know that everything she has is a fake. She puts that money on the side for probably a rainy day. True story kislux
What's the music being used for this? Sounds familiar.
I see something that reminds me of fata morgana, I click
Took a minute to realize nobody leaves the pilotseat after scan, the copy is technically a new person
I wasn't able to find the opening song in any of the mentioned soundtracks :( which is sad because it is the only track as good as the video :(
if you are asking about the intro music then its 'Monologue with the Moon' from the Termina soundtrack (its used for the trailer) hope that helps and if it is smth else lmk and I will find it for you :D
Hell yeah, it actually is it! Such a pity devs didn't put it on spotify (which is where I was searching for it 😥) Thank you kind sir and once again - great video! I'm going straight for the Signalis one 💪
YES, this is an excellent analysis! I was so excited to see BeamBuddy post a video about SOMA a few months back, but was extremely disappointed unfortunately. He did a great job of going through the game and summarizing the plot, as have you, but he didnt have this wonderful part at the end where he ACTUALLY tackles the concepts of the game, the sense of self, Transhumanism, and the ethics of pretty well all of it. Very happy to see someone actually embrace the heart of the game! Thank you!
If you squint a little, Simon being the last conscious being on a dead world its kinda the premise to Wall-E
"Finding truth in what began as protection" goes so hard ngl

Me when I heard "Gestalt" and "Replicants": NieR???????????????????????????
monologue with the moon is honestly the best song on the ost. and its just the trailer music. my god
Frappolo voice: Tear-mina!
Great video, exceptional amount of effort. You deserve much more and you'll get it soon! Thanks for several hours of entertainment
with the work you put into these videos you’re sure to grow quickly, can’t wait to see you with a million subs man keep it up
"A journalist who's covered wars y'know?" 🔥✍
Very well done and an interesting summary and look at the game. My one criticism is repetition; like saying the game "challenges our understanding of what it means to be human" repeatedly. Point well made, move on. ;-)
Yeah that's fair, it's something I struggle with in longer videos but I'm trying to work on it :D
It ain't a Signalis video if it ain't at least 2 hours long
I actually bought this game during a sale last week, it cost me a whole $3, and it’s a great experience, definitely my kind of game.
The King in Yellow opens the door to further litterary references, such as Leng. Slot that into the interpretation and much of what you're argueing for makes a lot of sense.
"A world where gods are a reality" Doesn't Termina take place centuries into the Cruel Age? Gods aren't really a reality at this point, and it's part of what makes Prehevil's secret cults so unsettling to many of the contestants. Alll-mer is still worshipped as a messianic figure, but there's basically no trace of him by the time Termina happens
Skip recap and start @ 1:00:57
this video sounds like what its like to read my own essays.
EVERYBODY LEAVE A COMMENT!!! Boost it im the algorithm!!!!

Just can beat one character. I just randomly watching sone random yutub
I randomly came upon this video and watched it whioe at work. And my god this was amazing, great job with your analysis, this was fantastic.
You did an exceptional job. I actually loved the errors and corrections that you didn't cut out I've watched every one of these 1.5+ hour Signalis videos, and this one was uniquely it's own: from perspective, to analysis, to the way in which you described the journey. Keep this up
Also, selfish request: do 1000x Resist
Alright, am I the only one who got this on recommended and thought it was a Zelda video? With that big moon and the word TERMINA on the thumb
Signalis was my GOTY for 2022. A brilliant game, a sad game, and an unforgettable game.
It was my game of the year for 2022 as well
A threw hour video of my obsession? Absolutely wonderful, id take all of your stock
Let's go! One more video before bed 😊
ooh, its been at least a month since I had the Signalis pain! time to be reminded of all the suffering!
LET'S GO
This is my favorite interpretation of Signalis that I've heard and it feels like it fits perfectly!
