Hello dear friends and well-wishers!
I am Ashish Budhrani, and I am incredibly excited to share a wonderful experience with all of you today. This past week, we had the joy of celebrating the Ganpati Festival at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Borgaon (Meghe), Wardha (more fondly known as IPER College, Wardha). This event has been a great source of happiness for the entire community here, from teaching and non-teaching staff to the dear students who made it all possible.
The Spirit of the Ganpati Festival Celebration
Ganpati Festival, or Ganesh Chaturthi, is one of the most widely celebrated and vibrant festivals in Maharashtra, and it holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. It is the celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. For many, Ganesha represents an auspicious symbol of hope and renewal. His arrival into our homes and institutions is a moment of reverence and immense joy.
At IPER, we embrace this tradition with open hearts every year, and the Ganpati Festival Celebration (GFC) has become one of the most anticipated events on our calendar. This year's GFC was particularly special due to the collective effort and enthusiasm of everyone involved. Our students worked tirelessly in the days leading up to the celebration, practicing and perfecting their performances to ensure that the event would be as vibrant and meaningful as possible.
An Effort Beyond Words: Students’ Preparation for Dhol Tasha
One of the most exciting parts of our GFC this year was the Dhol Tasha performance by our students. For those unfamiliar, Dhol Tasha is a traditional form of music performed with drums (Dhol) and cymbals (Tasha) and is a crucial part of many Maharashtrian celebrations, especially Ganesh Chaturthi. It brings an electric energy to the festivities, with its rhythmic beats echoing through the streets and energizing everyone who hears them.
Our students dedicated themselves to perfecting this art for weeks, undergoing rigorous practice sessions. Dhol Tasha is not easy-it requires coordination, strength, endurance, and, most importantly, teamwork. It is not just about hitting the drums but about syncing with the entire group and creating a harmonious symphony of beats that stirs emotions and brings people together.
The students’ dedication to their practice is commendable. Many of them had never played these instruments before, yet they took up the challenge for the sake of the festival. It was incredible to witness their growth and confidence with each passing day as their hard work culminated in a performance that left everyone in awe.
The Event Day: Ganpati Festival Celebration (GFC) Comes to Life
The day of the celebration finally arrived, and the campus was buzzing with excitement. The air was filled with an electrifying energy, and you could sense the anticipation among the students, staff, and visitors alike. Everyone was dressed in traditional attire, enhancing the cultural essence of the event.

To truly appreciate the Dhol Tasha performance, it’s important to understand its cultural significance. In Maharashtra, Dhol Tasha is more than just music; it is a symbol of community, unity, and shared joy. Over time, it became an integral part of Ganpati and other major festivals, symbolizing the power and vibrancy of the people.
