Thanks for the review! Definitely interested in picking up
This channel is such a hidden gem.
Awesome video Daniel! I haven’t read these books myself but your thoughts and sharing are making me think of checking it out. You interestingly compare to the Narnia series. How would you say it compares to The Death Gate series by Weiss and Hickman, which I enjoyed?
@@mathtutorboy Death Gate is very different. This one has Christian themes. I’d say I overall prefer Death Gate, but these are very different from each other.
omggggggggggggggggggggg a hidden gem channel...I love your vibe man
@@Sleeping-Achilles thank you so much!! It’s a small channel but I’m having fun. I’m glad you like it.
Thanks for the review. I was curious about this book and your review clarified the basics about the story. Now I want to read it
Love it
This is great, Daniel!
Oh wow, your copy of LOTR looks so beautiful! I love it. I am currently in my first read through of the Hobbit. Enjoying it very much right now! Excited to speak about it with you Daniel :) - Brian Stuart
Kim Stanely ROBINSON? DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!! For real though, I think I should give it a read
I read the original Red Rising trilogy back when it came out and I really enjoyed it. I'm waiting for the final book to come out before continuing. The Sun Eater series sounds exactly like something I would love. It should be completed soon as well if I'm not mistaken so I'll probably start with the first book later this year.
I subscribed to your channel. -James
That is a nice looking book. I have some reprinted Westerns that have gold edges on the page. You make me want to read this book. I do not have that one. I do have Great Expectations by Dickens but I haven't read it yet. You did a good job reviewing the book. Thanks for sharing. -James
@@Littlebiglibrary thanks so much! My channel is very new, and I appreciate new subscribers!

Raskolnikov is the most evil character in literary history because he killed two people, and by the end of the book, we sympathize with him.
Would you agree that Raskolnikov represents the view that morality is "supra-rational" and the attempt to ground morality in rationality (a la Kant) is refuted by experience? Raskolnikov was obliged by reason to commit the murder, yet experienced a progressive and unrelenting guilt for his action. Even if he was never sentenced for the crime he still experienced the punishment.
Very well put. I think you are on to something here. It isn’t getting caught and punished that makes murder wrong. It is just objectively wrong. This makes me think of C.S. Lewis’ The Abolition of Man wherein Lewis observes that all major religions and historical cultures share a common set of values that he calls the Tao. "What is common to them all . . . is the doctrine of objective value, the belief that certain attitudes are really true, and others really false, to the kind of thing the universe is and the kind of things we are." As you say, it is beyond rationality. Self-inflicted guilt is experienced by a moral human being because he/she is guilty, guilty of violating the Tao.
Well done Daniel!
"She's a drama queen" that description tickles me. That aside, I do recall seeing the story adapted into a manga. I kind of regret not picking it up when I saw it several years ago.
Polarizing book? I'm sold, I'll have to give the series a look
A new subscriber from India...great work..
I agree! I just subscribed as well!
I never read this book.. but I have watched the Netflix series... I surely give it a try..❤
Excellent review Daniel!
Well done Daniel!

🎉 "HI!" Popping your head up like a groundhog is the BEST way to start a TH-cam video 😂 Can't wait to see more of these videos
Absolutely! Either that or standing up like a mercat would be an awesome way to start every video!
Awesome Daniel, can’t wait to check out the new episodes…killer bro, keep it up
