Handmade Lego building tray🎅🏼🎄
Sometimes there’s nothing better than a custom, handmade gift for Christmas.
If you have a Lego lover in your life, this builder tray is a must have!
My son loves Lego. In fact he’s obsessed with it, but we often times find ourselves searching the floor for missing pieces that roll off the table and out of sight.
A work station seemed like a no brainer to me but I wanted clean up time to be quick and easy without the hassle of putting everything back into the box, so a tray made the most sense to me.
I designed this builder tray to accommodate a decent amount of Lego and also offer a large, non-slip work area.
The tray itself is made from birch wood and is stained with a single but healthy coat of Minwaxusa Early American 230.
I added some beefy, 8 inch industrial style kitchen drawer pulls for handles, a thick cork base for the non slip work area and a slot to accommodate a tablet for interactive lego building instructions.
So far this tray has been a huge hit and functions exactly how I expected it to.
Happy holidays everyone!

So much wrong with this video...maybe if we could actually see it work it would change our minds
How about we not add unnecessary preload to a wooden structure people will be living in. We sure as hell don’t to planes
I did not see anything move.
No sticky tape on the joists!
@@kennyjensen9653 nope
Or u can hit the plate from outside the window and save money.
@@silver-en7kl no, you can’t. There’s 1-1/4” thick wall foam on the exterior face of the wall. You’ll puncture the membrane and void the warranty by hitting it with your hammer
You didn't do nothing with that stupid object
@@kevinbutler3903 it’s a PeeVee bar and it’s been around longer than you have. I pulled the bottom plate in

Waste of time, the wall didn’t even move.
I'm more concerned about the Tyvek pool that exists.
@@joeynice123 I wouldn’t be. It wraps down the face of the rim board and between the top plates of the wall below. It’s a building code requirement to achieve a continuous barrier from floor to floor
Got good content my brotha keep the consistency and ull get there don’t get discouraged by the numbers .
@@HandlesLm thanks for the kind words and for following along!
This guy doesn’t know how to build a house. He’s Mr. gadget. He brings the laser level. That’s not necessary to build the wall. Your toenail it onto the line and when it stands up, it’s on the line plus you use straight boards for the bottom plate.
@@jonnietruth4083 hey! “This guy” here. I’ve machine lifted hundreds of walls in my 20 years as a carpenter and I can tell you no matter where you anchor your plate, it will almost always wander during the lift, especially on plate joints like the one in this video. I use 1 hinge nail every 16”, toe nailed through the plate and into the joist below but if you’re using a tele or crane to lift, the plate will more than likely need a slight adjustment after it’s stood. Also the “laser level” (😂) in the video is called a plate level and it should be standard issue for anyone framing a house.
@ Luke… You’re fired

Americans, still no clue of Building proper houses
@@xxtwixx we build in Canada and North American building practices are some of the best in the world
@@LukeTheBuilder that might be, but those are still cheap "paper" houses with thin wall and the bare minimum of insulation
@@xxtwixx lol dude stop before you embarrass yourself. I don’t chirp building practices in other countries because I don’t know much about their codes, and you obviously don’t know anything about building in North America. This wall assembly is built to exceed the rqd. 22-28 R-value for our region. We’ve gone above and beyond by also installing ISOclad wall board on the exterior to create a thermal break and water repellent surface, as well as water proof the entire RO for all windows and doors and strap the exterior for watershed and air flow. Building science is so much more than bricks and mortar my guy. Bring yourself up to speed or stay out of the comments. You sound like a goof.
That's why it's called "work" and not "happy fun time"
The ole board stretcher makes its appearance 🎉
tyvek under the wall plate is not the way to do it.
@@markrush5013 lol yes it is. I’ve said this about 600 times in the comments below but I’ll say it again for those that can’t read. It’s required by our building code to achieve a continuous barrier from floor to floor
Yes I’m sure you moved a wall that is already secured and skinned. And if you did I would be worried about your fasteners and the integrity of that wall.
@@Mr_Big_Head skinned? We platform framed it, tipped it and adjusted it into place the way you’re supposed to do it when you lift a wall. The fasteners are fine and as far as integrity goes… it’s a wall my guy. Pretty hard to mess up

@@JC-sc9rx so I use it to pull the wall in if I can’t smack it in from the outside
@LukeTheBuilder okay thank you
No good on a crete slab. Also, dont need a water barrier on timber to timber, you'd prefer it to evenly soak through if any water got in, rather than have it pool in one spot
@@andrewbooth5983 so this isn’t a slab, it’s a wooden subfloor that I’m anchoring into. The tyvek is installed between plates to create a continuous barrier from floor to floor once the envelope is complete. It’s also required by our building code
@LukeTheBuilder no shit I have eyes 😅 we just mostly did slabs, looks like a handy tool. We usually have to do 2 people and a washer shot on the bigger frames, can do 4x2 frames solo
@LukeTheBuilder are yous doing the greenhomes yet? Where they want you to wrap all the internal walls and have 2 layers of insulation?
@ yeah we’ve been insulating and installing vapour for a really long time my guy.
@LukeTheBuilder that's all new to New Zealand ay, we've only just started doing it, at least in my area. Though New Zealands winters are tame compared to US

I hate that the UK has adopted American building methods
@@user-di5pc6xq1e we’re in Canada
@LukeTheBuilder yeah that's why I said America. It's got it's plus points, they are usually better Insulated. But prefer tradition block and brick houses, built correctly will last hundreds of years. I just don't see modern timber houses lasting as long
@@user-di5pc6xq1e lmfao my dude North America has some of the most advanced building methods on the planet. We get all of the weather and seismic activity over here. Snow loads, wind loads, extreme cold, extreme heat, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes… there’s a reason the continent that’s decades ahead in building science doesn’t build with brick anymore 😂
I done it with a plank and sledge hammer a beauty. The crew building 3,500 square feet homes every two weeks prefers throwing the sheets. Go figure. They also haul them three sheets at a time. Don't work harder. Work alot harder.
