WWII M1 helmet transformation! Can I make a Chinese copy look original?
มุมมอง 6K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
I take a wack at making a Chinese copy of a m1 helmet look less like a Chinese copy. Let me know what you think! Note- if you have an original helmet with less than perfect original paint, this is not intended for you. Please don’t do this to a descent original. They will only be original once.

A review of a cheap Chinese copy of the iconic WWII officers “crusher” cap.
I did a resto mod on a Belgian m1 that I got from my local surplus store. The helmet was this weird green color so I decided to paint it. Made my own cork from an old coaster that I sanded with course sandpaper in a tray. Then I got some paint from Home Depot and it actually turned out pretty well!!! With the exception of the non period correct chinstraps it actually looks pretty good
No, they’re shit …!
can these stop shrapnel?
@@aaronsoriano2421 might be worth a test!
they look quite good are they the right material on the helmet itself?
@@Tristonia2 I’m not sure, I guess I could try shooting at it.
how do you only have 69 subs you deserve more
MAYBE not historically accurate look, however, I used some of that textured "stone" spray paint. Just a Walmart rattle can spray paint that has a fine/medium texture to it~ than I sprayed OD over it. Turned out really nice.
Sadly...not enough texture ! You should have used much more cork !
Yea I’ve noticed that bout’ the longest day
Nice dude I subscribed to your channel
I'd say it seems like a good idea if you want something custom, or a project, and don't want to modify a historical piece.
You should do a Military Tour
Great video! I'm going to try your method!
If you Take Just the Cover by itself and Soak it in hot 💧 Water, Then stretch it over the Steel Helmet, that seems to work a bit better.
Tbh you deserve more than 35 subs
What sewing machine did you use? Ive looked into bar tack specific machines but too expensive!🙄 Jman
@@robertmunoz7543 I just used a regular sewing machine with a denim/ upholstery needle on a zig zag setting.
@@WarQualityReviews Didn't know if It needed the torque like industrial machines to sew canvas?🤔 Jman
REPOP?😂 Jman
Had mine awhile. Currently washing it to try and fade it abit to get that vintage look.
nice
I have the exact same repro cover, i cut it so it fit my chinstraps and now its nice and tight
Nice
thanks for the vid a descent cap at best not to bad
I tried doing this but the paint I used was horribly inaccurate but when i got the paint it looked like the accurate color.
The pot isn’t as deep and the front of the dome isn’t as high. It slopes more gradually than the WW2 m1. It’s kind of hard to tell until you put them side by side. Great work though. Easy to see why they’d use them in ww2 films.
You done a good job on a china made M1 to make it look real ww2
Those Chinese helmets were the same ones used in the movie Hacksaw Ridge
Yup, threw me off so much while watching that movie
Yeahh… they really should’ve just asked reenactors if they could rent them from them…
Hoganmyer crusher?🤣 Jman
Occifer?😳 Jman
Unfortunately they copied an 60s production M1 rather than a WW2 example which is shaped differently!🙄 What sewing machine are you using?🤔 Jman
The Jman?
@@freduinst4333old call sign😁 Jman
Que usas como textura? que material es? Gracias
It’s ground cork
@@WarQualityReviews me sorprende que sea corcho!! pensé que era algo más sólido, hierro o arena! Gracias!!
So I REALLY would like to get my hands on a decent replica. Any Ideas who might be a good maker? I don’t want to waste time and Money on some cheap Asian Knockoff…
The absolute best repros are made by Michael Hanford from Aviator Military Headwear. He does stunning work.
@@WarQualityReviews Thank you very much indeed - I'll check him out immediatly!
@@WarQualityReviews Found them on Facebook! 225 Pounds + Shipping... now that's a pretty Penny! They look stunning tough, I might consider it....
Society Brand cap company make great reproductions! If I remember correctly, they are the only one to be licensed to make the Bancroft caps
I think it looks German as well.
This is interesting. I have a roached out vietnam helmet i plan to do this with. Id love to see your other helmets.
Good luck with yours! I’ll have to do a video on my other helmets sometime.
It looks exactly the same. Sweet "trick"
