Ranking The Foreigner Albums (That I own)
1971 would have been my pick but I’d already done a pair of videos on that year. You’ve got a great selection! I’m kind of interested in that T Rex album now.
Yeah that is a classic glam rock album it's very very good!
Nice selection but where was Hunky Dory???!!!
@Bizzle65 wasn't a fan when I first listen but I want to relisten definitely!
It's pronounced Shay - mus. I loved that track.
Thanks for the shout Jack, that Nick Drake is perfect!
That’s a banger right there ❤
It is nice to see all the albums on CD . I like Elton John, and I didn't know there was a message for Linda on the Ram album. I recommend Cat Stevens, Teaser and the Firecat 1971
@catherine6653 yes cd is my favorite format! And yeah I learned it recently on ram it's an interesting one for sure but cute! And yes I do want to listen to cat Steven's he's on my list thank you!
Holy smokes! I forgot how many great records were released in 1971. Great showing, and you're right, I love those Alice Cooper albums! By the way, I happen to like the song, L'America, too. "Change your weather, change your luck, then I'll teach how to ... find yourself!" I never noticed the LILY on Ram before! You started out with a great T. Rex album there.
@MarkMorris-1962 yay someone else who likes l'america!! And yeah I was suprised too how many there were!
Great year, Jack! Some solid pics there. I'll be getting in on this also. Well done 😎🎶
1971 was a great year for music. 70's Alice Cooper is the best. There were some real classics with Madman, Aqualung, Imagine, Physical Graffiti, Electric Warrier and Who's Next, not to mention several of the other ones you showed.
Hey Jack- 1971 certainly WAS a great year in music! That said, I was barely 6 so I wasn't going crazy collecting vinyl (yet). I do have quite a lot of the ones you showed...funnily I don't have any Jethro Tull or Traffic albums (not sure why...) I haven't decided on my 'year' for Alex's contest, but it will probably be somewhere in the 80s :) Take care!
ou picked a great year for music! I like these albums 🙂
@@EmbryonicRobot definitely! Thanks for watching Brian loved your last video!
Great pics from 71 you've got a nice collection
@@TheAuditoryVinyl thank you!
👋 Hi jaCk... Very cool.video..well done ! Few albums i thought of 4 way street CSN& Y Sticky Fingers Rolling Stones Hunky Dory. David Bowie Concert for Bangala desh George Harrison / var artist
That sticky fingers has a good closing track wasn't much of a fan of the whole album and I need to relisten to hunky dory again!
@@JackTheMusicGuy Can't you hear me knocking. ...love that one
Great entry, Jack! I'm so glad you picked 1971 too because you showed all the records that I wanted to but didn't in my video! (just an FYI, you showed Physical Graffiti from LZ but I think you meant to show IV/Untitled!). Such a great video and so many great albums. You're in.. thanks buddy!
Yeah I was definitely suprised that '71 was the most I had and thank you I didn't even notice I pulled the wrong one lol! Cause of course that's from 1975! And I had lots of fun doing this thank you!
Kajagogo is bassist Nick Beggs band from England. He is one of the best bassist in England and teaches guitar at university in London. He has been playing bass for Howard Jones for about 20 years. Those are some very nice 80s music. The picture sleeves are collector items.
@catherine6653 hey tbank you for that info that really helps and thank you for watching!
I do like that Head East cover and it is one of my early purchases back in the day. I don't think that I knew about the person lurking on The Eagles inside cover. Cool Smiths cover and the Abbey Road one is iconic.
@RandyforRoyals yeah learning about that hotel cali was very interesting
Hey Jack. Blur is great. I have the Parklife album on CD and you're totally right.. all tracks are pretty killer except that punk one. This Is A Low is a sleep inducing coma song that sends you into another realm (and I mean that in a good way). Great video... Cheers, Darryl.
Couldn't agree more
Hey Jack. Great video. I'm here because of Brian @embryonicrobot, he and I sub to one another. And he did his own response to your thread, which I liked a lot. So hear I am checking yours out. That Head East is good album... I always thought the syrup on the front cover looked like a pick guard from a Fender Strat. Beatles! Led Zep lll, yes! That's my fave Alice Cooper as well "Halo Of Flies" is in my top 5 Alice songs. I just subbed to you. I'm a bit new to the VC, posted my first video about 8 weeks ago and only have 11 videos up. Cheers
Hey thanks for checking my vidoe out!!!! Welcome to the community!
That Head East album is great, very appetizing and also their best album (in my opinion). Zep III is also a favorite of mine, great concept and iconic. That cover by The Smiths is also a favorite. Great stuff! Not sure where to even start as far as my favorites, there are so many.
@TCatsDeepVinylTraxx I agree I like that head east album.
When I was a kid and my Zep collection was all on cassette and CD I hated the Presence album cover but after recently “updating” my collection to vinyl it’s become my one of my all-time favorite covers. It just works so well in that format.
@@JamesWard-d1h oh wow that is cool I'm glad you like it now!
@@JackTheMusicGuy Hey if you like the art style of that Head East cover you should check out the photography book 'Real Food' by Martin Parr. I love his stuff. All of it would make great album art.
Hi Jack, my daughter used to hang around with Kevin Parker when before he became Tame Impala, i went to his house in Fremantle and saw him playing around with instruments which were later part of "innerspeaker", he is such a great talented guy IMO. i can actually take or leave Blur, i much prefer Albarn's side project Gorillaz. on your wall behind you i see a Smiths poster, i actually prefer Morrissey's solo albums if i am honest. great video mate - Lloyd
@LloydBoonworldofmusic2 wow that is awesome that you got to be around him and in suprised about the smiths comment!
@@JackTheMusicGuy i wasnt even a big fan of the Smiths when they came out, i mean they were good, i just didnt go nuts over them
Elvis had a pink vinal . Love me tender album .
@@arthurpriestley8103 ooooooooo
Fantastic choices! And the Beatles made two appearances! You don't know how happy that makes me. Good job, Jack!
@@MarkMorris-1962 such good covers the beatles have! Thank you for watching mark!
ELO electric light orchestra has a purple one that was pretty cool. I had back in the 80s. I think it was a sweet talking woman 45.
@@1aplay2 oh wow that is really cool
Great theme to show some records, Jack! Frank Zappa's 'Hot Rats' is one I have that comes to mind right away - a striking image. I agree about The Smiths as well - all their LP covers, pic sleeves, etc. have those memorable movie images.
Good stuff Jack, I've always liked the Zeppelin cover, same for Hotel CA!
All classics Jack! Very cool!
@trevorsflatroundspun-vinyl9803 thank you!
👋 Hi jAcK..totally awesome assortment on vynil I'm jealous...btw all album titles appear written backwards.
@@bobf.5538 dang it! Thanks for letting me know
Hi Jack, anyone who likes CSNY is a winner for me. do yourself a favour and buy the debut solo albums by Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, theyre as good as "deja vu" IMO. im not a fan of "a night at the opera" either, overrated for sure. - Lloyd
Hi Jack, Richard S bought me here, great idea for a thread, hope others get involved as i will over the weekend. all subbed up for ya mate!, - Lloyd
Hey thank you so much for coming over here and thanks for doing one can't wait to see it!
Stewart Copleland was the drummer for The Police
All good choices. The Led Zeppelin cover is awesome; I think the first Soft Machine album has the same sort of wheel with the front cover that allows you to change the look. Three of my favorite album covers (not going to say they're the top three) are Grateful Dead Aoxomoxoa, Skip Bifferty (s/t album), and Caravan's "If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You." And Andromeda's self-titled album. Beatles' White Album is an interesting choice you made; a favorite "plain" album cover of mine is Anthony Williams "Spring" album. Rock on Jack!
@RandallWeaver for the white album it's mainly the concept behind it! And I can see why your choices are your favorites they are pretty cool!
This was fun! I’ve had. several of my favorites framed and they’re hanging on walls throughout the house (Supertramp- Breakfast in America, Beatles-Hey Jude, Hüsker Du-Warehouse, Wings- Venus & Mars, among others). 👍
@@richards5280 ooooo that would be fun to do!
@@JackTheMusicGuy Now working on a response to your video....woo hoo!! :)
@richards5280 hey thanks!!!!! Can't wait to see it!
The Queen Is Dead and Abbey Road are probably my favorite of the ones that you showed, but they’re all very cool. Good job with the video.✌️
Classics! And thank you so much for watching!
Pretty great choices, especially the Smiths. I would definitely have London Calling from the Clash on on list.
@@EmbryonicRobot yes another amazing album cover!
Jack, I am digging all those 80's 45 picture sleeves: some of which I have not seen before, and those Police 45's have B sides not released anywhere else. Very cool. Your Great Aunt had a great collection! 😎🎶
@@onmyturntable7036 I knew you would love those picture sleeves!
✌️Hey jAcK...when he really was YOUNG
@@bobf.5538 LOL!
no pauline pantsdown?
Never heard of them
Nice to see young people appreciate great music
@@Nofashists so much fun!
This sounds like a good thread idea, Jack! I don't know Tame Impala. Blur's Park Life plays like a compilation: there are so many different styles on there. Fantastic 90's release!
@musicisajourney yes that is very true about parklife
You have some great stuff in that collection! Most of it was popular when I was a young man in my late teens and early 20s. I hated that Sex Pistols album when I first heard it, but give it some time. About a decade later I found myself listening to it quite a bit! Your aunt obviously loved The Police!
@MarkMorris-1962 lol yes she did! I wonder if I will ever get into it still love the cover art!
Blur is great, I have '94 UK CD of Leisure
Hey Jack- Love Tame Impala, especially Innerspeaker (I saw them on that tour, too- great live!); definitely can't go wrong with Blur- I think Parklife is my favorite from them :) Thanks so much for helping me out in my livestream on Friday- that was a good time! Cheers- R
@richards5280 wow that's awesome that you saw them live that would be fun! And parklife is my favorite too! And you're welcome it was a great time!
Hi Jack! I've always meant to pick up some Blur albums. Never got into them back in the day. Love your enthusiasm & passion for music. 🎶
@@cgcvinyl you definitely need to! And thank you!
You're right! I only have one of these (the Blur self-titled cd). A fun and informative video, Jack!
@MarkMorris-1962 hey thanks mark! I'm a but suprised you have any blur lol!
👋Hi jAcK saw you on northern revolutions live. Every time I buy music I'll always take a chance on something I wouldnt normally buy be it by price , the cover or a cover song. I have to play catch up I've got so many to listen to.recently went to an indoor flea market got 25 near mint cds for $5. I picked them.myself many still sealed
@bobf.5538 wow that is awesome
Hey Jack! Great picks… the only one I have is that Coltrane/hartman album which I love. I usually don’t care much for jazz vocal but that is beautiful album and totally understand your Christmas vibes stuff!
@@beerandvinyl yay such a good one!
Hi , blur and tame impala are 2 of my favourites .. everyone in the uk knows about blur.but Tame impala are less known by the over 30s … Kevin Parker is such a talent 👍
@@robwalkerletthemusicplay agreed thanks for watching!
I have The Best of Blur CD, but I've never listened to it too much. I should get that out. I like Tame Impala; oddly, my favorite of theirs is The Slow Rush. I don't have InnerSpeaker. That Coltrane/Hartman album is fantastic. My favorite song is Lush Life. The title sounds like it would be about living a lush life in Hawaii or something, but the song is actually about a guy who drinks too much...."...and there I'll be/while I rot with the rest/of those whose lives are lonely too..." Incredibly sad but beautiful. Rock on Jack!
@RandallWeaver wow thanks for that info I'm suprised how many people know and like tame impala too thank you!
The version of Lush Life on the Coltrane / Hartman album is unbelievable! The whole collection is great!!
