This is so wonderfully timed for me. I plan to share this. Thanks.
You’ll find re-blocking will make the alpaca “floof” more consistent across the cardigan. Basically, overhandling (frogging, tinking, and reknitting) stresses the yarn, and natural body oils from your hands flattens the floaty fibres. Give it a good soak in some rinse-free wool wash and block it again and I’m certain you’ll be delighted. Your combination of yarns in the cardigan are truly gorgeous.
Thank you so much! I was really wondering about that, and your explanation makes so much sense-it’s amazing how overhandling can affect the fibers like that. I’ll definitely take your advice and give it a good soak with some rinse-free wool wash and re-block it. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. ♥️
Your pink cardigan is lovely. I wouldn’t change anything.
That’s so nice to hear Ruth, thank you :)
Thank you for taking the time to share your knitting projects. They are truly lovely. I’m currently working on the Twist Loop Collar by Other Loops and will be casting on a pair of Poet Socks by Sari Nordlund this evening to match. I’ll be posting a podcast on my projects next week if you want to check them out. Happy Holidays to you my friend. ❤
Thank you, Christie, for your kind words and for sharing your current projects-both sound absolutely lovely! The Twist Loop Collar and Poet Socks are such beautiful choices, and I hope you enjoy working on them. Wishing you all the best with your podcast as well. Happy Holidays to you too!
I'm glad I found your podcast! I enjoyed this episode, and I 'm looking forward to the next one too!
So glad you found the podcast and enjoyed the episode! That really means a lot to me 🧡. I’m excited to share the next one with you!
Your sweater is beautiful. The colour looks amazing on you and, the combination of yarns adds such great dimension. I’m looking forward to seeing your husband’s finished sweater. It’s 845 on Dec 23rd where I am and I just cast on a Christmas gift for my neighbour. No pressure, right?
Thank you! I love how the color came out-it was so fun to knit. I’m cramming in some finishing touches on both gift knits too. Casting on a Christmas gift on the 23rd is bold-I have no doubt you’ll pull it off! You’ve got this, and those hands definitely deserve a well-earned rest afterward 🧡
Your cardi is lovely on you! Yes. I feel the same about buttons. The size and how many. I just bought some that are 1 inch. Black with silver glitter. I am knitting a cardigan but I dont these buttons will work for it. I think only knitters would understand wanting to find a pattern and yarn to match the buttons and then making the garment for the buttons. Feel better and happy holidays.
Thank you so much! I’m happy to know I’m not the only one who overthinks buttons! Your black buttons with silver glitter sound gorgeous-I’m sure you’ll find the perfect project for them. And you’re so right about only knitters planning a whole garment around the buttons-it gave me a good laugh because it’s just so true. Happy knitting and happy holidays!
Hi I am currently knitting the 6th Darling Cardigan. 3 have been for myself and 3 are gifts for my friends. Its such a nice and easy pattern and suits everyone. I think after finishing the current one in a colour of 1 strand red mohair and one strand of rasberry i will knit myself one in winter grey. As said i am really into this pattern of kutovakika😅
Wow, six Darling Cardigans! That’s amazing-your friends are so lucky to receive them as gifts. The red mohair and raspberry combo sounds stunning! You must be a real expert at this pattern by now. I’ve been thinking about making another one too, but in a bigger size. The one in the video has less positive ease because I wanted it to go with dresses for the warmer months, but I’d love to try one with the full positive ease like the pattern examples 😊
Yes go for another one. I made one in babyblue with more positive ease and it has me done a good favour in summer on my flight back from Florida. Its always so chilli in the airplanes on night flights and i have worn it over a summer dress. Wish you and your family a merry christmas. Greetings from Germany Moni
Your Darling cardi is beautiful. Its a really nice colour. I just checked out the pattern and it looks like you made it more fitted and used a lighter weight yarn. That's a talent I don't have.
Thank you! Yes, like I mentioned in the video, if I could go back, I’d start the first button a little further down, which would’ve made them closer together. I actually unpicked it stitch by stitch and redid it once already 😅 so I’m happy to leave it as is now-I can live with it!
I’ve knit the Purl Soho “Simply the best baby cardigan” before and will be knitting that again. I’m going to add the hat and booties you mentioned. I went to add them to my ravelry patterns and I already had them :)
The cardigan is absolutely adorable, and the whole set makes such a thoughtful gift-what a great idea! As for the booties, it’s definitely kismet-great minds think alike :)
Such a beautiful cardigan you are wearing!
Thank you! I really enjoyed knitting it. I love the color-it’s definitely the brightest piece in my wardrobe now!
Wonderful ideas, thank you very much! 🤎
So glad you liked the patterns, thank you for taking the time to let me know! 🤎
I was about to say the same, it would be lovely to look at the photos while you are talking so that we can agree with all your great observations ❤
I completely agree-it would have been nice to keep the photos up longer in this video. I’ll definitely make sure to do that in future videos so they’re easier to follow along with. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts ❤️
Lovely cardigan and hat, and that colour is divine! I've been craving some pink accessories for winter, so I might have to copy that yarn combo :)
Thank you so much! Pink really does brighten up those chilly winter days. There’s something so satisfying about working with a color that makes you smile. And the yarn combo so warm and soft :)
You will have plenty of yarn for your socks 😊
Ahh, that’s so good to know! I actually drove past my yarn shop today and almost went in to grab another skein. Thanks for letting me know 😊
Your Ravelry links don't work.
Thanks for catching that! I’ve fixed all the Ravelry links now, so they should be working perfectly.
I could listen to u all day! Thank u for these reminders!
Thank you-that means a lot to me! It’s always a joy to share ideas that help make life feel a little lighter and more grounded.
Thank you for the free patterns, but it will be more nicer to keep the pattern photos up a bit longer on the screen….😊❤
Thank you so much for the feedback-I completely agree! I’ll be sure to keep the pattern photos on screen a bit longer next time. 😊❤
I somehow decided to only gift knit for this Christmas 😅 finishing up halibut mittens for my dad, did a vest for my mum and for one of my sisters, socks for that sisters boyfriend, and matching mittens for my other sister and her boyfriend. My hands are sore, but I also feel so lucky to have a family full of knit worthy people in my life ❤️ thanks for all the tips, I have lots of birthday celebrations coming up so it's so nice to get some inspiration!
Wow, Anna, you’ve taken on such a range of thoughtful projects-it must be so satisfying seeing them come together! It’s lovely that your family appreciates handmade gifts like this. Halibut mittens sound really unique-I’m going to have to look those up. I hope your hands get a bit of a break once everything is finished-it’s such a busy time for us knitters! ❤️
Thank you for the recomendations ❤
You're so welcome! It’s always so fun to browse patterns :)
this was very insightful, I gotta fix my morning routine!
