Synthesizer New Zealand
New Zealand
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ส.ค. 2022
Synthesizer NZ is New Zealand's first dedicated modular synthesizer store. We are passionate about synthesizers, especially those that are modular. There is nothing that we'd rather do than noodling, wiggling and creating a maybe amazing patch.
With the community in mind we have started Synthesizer New Zealand. By selling hundreds of modules to customers around the world the we were able to create a community for people to gather and share knowledge which has always been the main reason to start the store. Our community platform was born and named the Sine Synthesizer Community.

Hexinverter Mindphaser // Modular Synth Jam
Mindphaser is a next generation complex dual oscillator for the Eurorack modular synthesizer format. Its dual oscillator architecture builds on and advances principles developed decades ago, by pioneers of electronic music synthesis.
Mindphaser generates sounds through its dual VCO cores: the Carrier and Modulator, and in addition to these cores, a palette of intermodulation capability is offered through the Modulation Bus (ModBus) and a separate, supplementary through-zero phase modulation (TZ-PM) bus. The sound is further sculpted by a final set of tools contained in the Waveshaper, before reaching the final output.
Mindphaser from Hexinverter Electronics builds on the legacy set forth by the Buchla 259 Complex Wave Generator, but is a far cry from a clone. It gets its name from the thru-zero phase modulation circuit, a feature not always seen on a complex oscillator. Mindphaser starts with a pair of sawtooth-core oscillators: the carrier and modulator, and both range in frequency from sub-audio to supersonic. The modulator oscillator has an octave/range switch to select between frequency ranges and puts the oscillator into the sub-audio spectrum. Both oscillators feature linear, exponential, 1V/oct CV inputs and individual waveform outputs.
As its name implies, the modulator oscillator modulates the carrier oscillator and wavefolder through the mod bus. Select between the pulse, sawtooth, and sine waveforms as the modulation source. Any CV attenuator that features a small triangle next to it receives modulation from the mod bus unless a patch cable overrides this normalization. The index control acts a macro modulation knob-it controls the depth of all the modulation before the input attenuators, so turning it up sends the modulation oscillator to all destinations, providing sweeping changes to the carrier oscillator. The sync switch syncs the modulator to the carrier, providing more related modulation.
The waveshaping and phase modulation sections are where things get really interesting. The sine wave from the carrier oscillator passes into the waveshaping section to add harmonics and sonic interest. As for the wave folder, it's an analog triangular or rampoid folding circuit with a five-octave range that begins to clip the waveform at high settings. Additionally feed the folded waveform back onto itself using the feedback control. With no wave folding, the feedback will morph the sine wave into a triangle or sawtooth waveform, depending on if the folder is in the triangular or rampoid mode. Control the amplitude of the waveform or add additional ring mod harmonics with the thru-zero amplitude control. A soft clipping switch adds a bit more character to the folded waveform.
After the waveshaper, the carrier oscillator passes into the thru-zero phase modulation bus. This phase control is separate from the core oscillator's phase, so adjusting the phase doesn't affect the other waveforms from the carrier oscillator. The character of the phase-shifting varies between the triangular and rampoid folding modes, and the phase modulation mod bus is separate from the waveshaping and frequency modulation bus with its own index and index CV control. By default, the sine wave from the modulator passes into the phase modulation bus, but plugging a cable into the source jack breaks this connection.
Mindphaser excels as a source of complex tones and timbres. It combines stable and wide-ranging oscillators with an extensive sonic shaping with a plethora of frequency, waveshape, and phase modulation possibilities.

this is so extra quality wise
Very beautiful sounds !
I own 3 modular moogs and the soma Pulsar. I like this Shuttle. I also consider erica synth fusion system - but the Shuttle looks more Professional. I own ghost and golden master- I like the quality.
Weakest point of this synth tbh. Can't even change the LFO shape or phase because it's in the menus and DB-01 needs to stay in keyboard mode for external midi playback.
FINALLY! A legit music producer actually showcasing the core sounds of the oscillators lmao ... My 3 hour search on youtube has born fruit ...🔥
3 hours! Make sure to watch the other DB-01 videos we’ve done as well, saves you searching the web 😅
? not much going on...
Plenty going on if you listen carefully 😉
Oooh, Mindphaser and Ghost combo! Sounds awesome!
Very original signature sound ! Refreshing jam.
Nice sound⚡⚡
This video literally teaches you nothing
That's because it's not intended to teach you anything, it's part of a series where you can simply listen to some creations on the device. Thanks!
Gorgeous piece of gear, awesome tones !
Thanks! 🙌
Yeah very cool complex oscillator and more
Yes absolutely & more 🤙
Sounds great !
Thanks!
sounds like a Dutch guy
Dutch guy in kiwi land✌️
lol, what was the point of that? good lord
happy arrive and welcome to berlin!
It helps if u don’t put adds on the fox list
How long did it take you to master the DB-01 ? Regards from the UK.
Hi Twiglet! Not long at all to be honest the interface is very intuitive and the menu diving that is there is pretty straight forward. The unit is built in such a way that it has its limitations which is a good thing because this means you can actually get to know the unit relatively quickly. Hope all is well in the UK! Greetings from New Zealand 👍 feel free to reach out if you have some questions.
Nice demo thanks.Just bought the LXR-02 to go with it - wish the DB-01 had a headphone socket so i use a headphone amp which is a bit of a faff.Always nice to see new content for fresh inspiration.
Thanks! The LXR-02 is a great device, hope you’re still enjoying it!🎉
@@synthesizernz Yes thanks still having fun with it !
For anyone listening to these modules for the first time here, search for the Bastl / Cooper demos. These modules are intended to be so much more.
sounds like fun
ooohh daaang
well, that was a crappy video. just a promo.
Nice :-)
Thanks!
Love the DB-01 and appreciate your videos. Nicely shot. This 'meeting' video was really interesting and useful. The text guide to explain what your doing as you go along is great. Hopefully you will consider doing some more tutorial videos along these lines. Do you share your videos in any of the FB groups? Maybe some longer tutorials would see more views. Keep up the good work and thanks
Hi Martin, thank you so much for the positive comment! Means a lot if people appreciate the videos, I have not shared the video in a lot of groups at this stage as I’m not active in many of them at the moment but would happily take some suggestions from you 👍 Thanks again, and comments like these make sure the videos will keep coming 👏
So that was a bit useless if you're trying to sell product. Most Eurorack usets know what a resonance control is. The filter being able to work at audio and lower rates is a nice feature. You might have wanted to explain that or possibily some of the less common filter modrs available. There are lots of other sales worthy features on it to boot. You can do better.
Nice, strong Colin Benders vibe too!
That’s a big compliment Stephen!🙏
Great synth.
Agreed!
Is it wrong that I just liked the looks of the modules? Nice thumb nail... guess that's why I'm here. :)
They look gorgeous so definitely not a bad thing ☺️❤️
Sweet
Cheers Keith!
Wow, very nice basssound
Thanks!
Wish this didn’t default to c3. Being a bass synth n all
Totally agree @iamyila and I’m not aware of an option to actually set a different default note, it is pretty easy to tweak though especially using the built in scales. What I did notice is that a C3 is pretty ‘consistent’ on the machine where lower notes sometimes are not due to the modulation you put on them. This might be the reason for choosing a C3.
Thank you for being in NZ, I’m looking for a great filter, is this overkill?
Hi Stephen, not overkill however there is a dressed down version (without the effects, sidechain ducking and compressor) which is the Endorphines Squawk Dirty which gives you 8 stereo filter options and an internal VCA. Pretty amazing, however Ghost packs more features and is an amazing end of chain module.
@@synthesizernz I’ll take a look, great video production by the way, like really great!
@@Jin-Hu thank you Stephen! There’s some more coming soon 😊 feel free to reach out if you need any more information, we’re here to assist👌
@@synthesizernz looking forwards to Squarking soon Robin, thanks again for the recommendation
Hell yeah.
New Zealand represent RabRab!
Half the video was that mad intro. Weird but OK!
Great video
Thanks Adam!🎉
dope but I can't really tell what the reverb sounds like!
Hey Wiebe, thanks for the comment! I’ll do a more elaborate video with instructions on Ghost a bit later and will make sure to cover the reverb 👌
Fire
🔥 Cheers!
Pretty subtle, DarkMatter can be way more rude than that, push those sliders !!!
Sure can, too afraid🤣 it can be absolutely brutal
@@synthesizernz TBH, being subtle makes for a nice performance, but not a great demonstration. Kinda need to be a bit more dramatic with each function individually at first to give a feel for the range each control is capable of, then put it in a more subtle performance context.
Awesome vid! Very pro!
Such a good demonstration! 🤯
Thanks team, appreciate the positive comments!
