Clear Cut
มุมมอง 1054 ปีที่แล้ว
Compilation video in the context of the project 'Clear Cut'. This work is a reaction to the removal of hundreds of trees in the Amstelpark in Amsterdam. Despite the large scale cutting, there was no protest, in contrast to the increasing social unrest over tree felling in the Netherlands. The incident made clear that the park lacks a group of involved stakeholders. To further investigate this p...

The project took place on the Nurana island, a man-made island on the northern coast of Bahrain, constructed in...
Neighborhood Watch

'Neighborhood Watch’ is made in response to the commotion caused by the opening of a refugee center in Maastricht. The entrance of the center was relocated in order to reduce the chance of contact between local citizens and asylum-seekers. The project proposed a symbolic alternative for this forced separation by inserting a cultural artifact within the neighborhood that is both local and foreig...

‘We are Already Building Rio 2000, 30 Years in Advance’ is a video work and part of the project ‘Paraíso Ocupado’. The video is based on a script found in the abandoned archive. Since I was a child, passing Avenida das Americas, I used to wonder, what could be that caused such a huge building to be left abandoned for so long. I was not born in rio, an neither were my parents, and since the internet as we know nowadays was not a thing yet, I kept theorising about it. Little did I know there was a huge story behind it, the story of a great plan that never came to be. It took you guys and your studies for me to discover what the place that I live was suposed to be, there was always something off, streets suddenly blocked by fences and walls, huge avenues that lead nowhere, until, about 10 years ago I came across the blog "paraiso ocupado", and it all started making sense. Great peace of video by you guys, thanks a lot. Now I see, this may even have inspired me unconsciously, to study civil engeneering.
I saw Wouter and was impressed by his works
