I want to post on this channel more frequently & make it lower-stakes to do so! So I’ll start throwing in some low-audio-quality recordings (don’t have a good mic rn D:) of me playing stuff I’m learning. I’ll leave a comment with stuff I want to work on too. Hope you enjoy, scuffed audio and playing and all! #rachmaninoff #piano #etude

You are so talented :3 do you have the sheets? btw, you got a new sub :3
Fabulous musicality!(and of course technique!)
How is your fingering on the right hand? Is legato possible or is it an almost legato? B major seems so hard to nail perfectly.
now that you play it this way, I kind of like this tempo better
thanks for these very honest, sincere, and truthful words
wow, amazing!
thank you!!
Wait why am seeing this four days late

martini
10 fingers??
well, i hope so!
@@AndrewWuMusicyou’re so talented 👏🏻
@@spyxfamily6433 thank you! if you think this was impressive for ten fingers, you should find on my channel what i like doing with five :D
0:08 - I play this rather robotically. I think a way of practice I'm going to keep referencing the method (start-stop) where you play a segment at tempo, pause, and then continue the next segment at tempo. Basically the idea is you do a lot of metronomic drilling to deal with passages like these so you don't do enough practicing of actually pausing for a breath. lots of practicing to make a jump quickly but it turns out that a lot of it looks like practicing to jump as quickly as possible when you want to actually control it 0:15 - I speed up on the F# E D#s and G F# Es. hmm. 0:21 - can this resolution in e minor be not blurry :| 0:26 - this is a good candidate for start-stop practicing - I think I need to pause for a split second on the B before coming in with the alto and tenor voices 0:32 - shaping could be a lot better; want to get to the C# E in the RH. probably should be the higher point of the phrase 0:34 - rushing the C# D E and D E F#, just like at 0:15 0:49 - another good candidate for start-stop practice. I should practice playing the first five notes of the measure and then waiting a breath and then coming in on BD DF#, which is the part that really matters for getting louder 1:01 - I got new fingerings for this but haven't figured them out properly yet :| 1:03 - how do I fix the RH counterpoint here? I think I should emphasize coming ins more ... 1:13 - my teacher said beethoven is giving us time by putting the grace note C C octave in the LH - I agree but didn't execute :| oops! 1:49 - wow that E is invisible! I think I have a thing where I diminuendo really quickly and don't catch the important note at the start of the next phrase. 1:51 - again, the G is more important than I'm giving it credit for, and the lower voices are too loud :| 2:01 - wow it's abundantly clear that I don't know what to do with those F#s LOL. i think maybe they should get louder?! probably?! 2:04 - clear trip. hmm i redid my fingering for the first iteration of this part - might be screwing with the way I play the second one. another candidate for start-stop practice 2:20 - that last C isn't pianissimo yet! 2:23 - just like 0:49 2:30 - gotta practice making those jumps to B B E. think i need to practice getting to the key and then playing it (slow tempo) i always found those fast beethoven movements really really difficult ... this is no exception. 110-2 also really annoyed me. but this actually feels more doable haha
Soundless!
yeah, sorry the volume is low! you can listen to th-cam.com/video/R_rcNVckDaI/w-d-xo.html instead if you want a higher volume version haha and one day soon i'll rerecord the entire suite with better audio : )
This was actually my first time ever playing this completely through - started learning it maybe 5-6 weeks ago & finished up the notes about a week ago. Thoughts: 0:10 - many times this sort of 2-against-3 figure comes up I think I have a tendency to play it a bit too metronomic 0:15 - this trill is randomly so annoying. It usually goes well until like, the last two notes of it? Maybe that means I need to practice playing *through* the trill - maybe there's some mental anticipation it's going to end, so my fingers preemptively respond? 0:24 - I think the bass shouldn't completely drop out here ... 0:40 - I think this entire section needs more difference in "flavor" 0:42 - maybe a bit more time on that new harmony? 0:58 - here I'm playing each iteration of this the same way :| 1:24 - it feels like whenever this is in the LH my RH is following my LH and not the other way around. I generally find this entire section hard / awkward to play, despite how it sounds. 1:45 - the counterpoint starting here needs to feel way more natural. I think A F# A F# can be way less metronomic 1:54 - the RH melody here doesn't have enough curves I think - also tends to follow the LH 2:28 - I think I should play this entire section like 5% faster lol 2:36 - this is where I think the lower whole tone scale should emerge more fully over the theme motif 2:45 - the last twenty seconds is pointing toward this (and later but also this.) I should probably linger for a moment more here? in general this section has a tendency to just Sound Like Noise if not properly directed 2:57 - how do I make these chords sound better LOL 3:07 - I want to figure out how to interpret these big RH chords. Should I be pointing out the high ones more? Feeling the gaps more? Idk 3:11 - i actually usually play this part a lot better in practice ... for real ... ;-; 3:26 - whoops I guess that's a weakness of mine. 3:39 - I've actually been having a lot of trouble with this section the last few days. My LH jumps are not consistent. Need to isolate 3:56 - I'm usually quite consistent here (cheating by playing the sixths with the LH) but I underestimated how tired I'd be after the last four minutes. Isolating didn't give me the full picture here. I think I can generally take some more time before this to mentally reset though. 4:02 - I ... really don't know how to approach this section ... 4:25 - right now it feels like the RH grace notes are bowing to the LH bass notes, and I don't love that effect. 4:39 - how do I make that sudden crescendo into mf sound better? 4:51 - this long broken chord needs to be somewhat quicker I think
Excellent playing
thx!
such,,, one might say,,, poetry
I’m glad your playing in this video improved while sitting on your computer for several months!
is that what you think i've been doing since i played poetry
(Never uploaded this video, though the audio has been on Holden’s channel for a while)
have you considered using your right hand
started thinking about it yesterday after putting this up and thought "huh that could've made it easier"
Looks hard, it might be easier if you use both hands
i'll give that a try some time!
orz
no u! :))
Moszkowsky captures wagners music much better than liszt.
yooo andrew i knew you from aops!! pretty sick that you're featured in a gsarci video! anyway i used to be that cringy kid with certain conservative and religious takes in the forums. just wanna let you know im no longer that guy. i don't even identify as a guy anymore. well in retrospect i definitely deserved all of those downvotes you sent my way. think you can probably guess which user i was
no idea, but happy for your growth : )
this looks so hard to play
you should learn it! it’s a pretty good piece
The middle section has an information content of 200 megabytes
thanks for the information, Holden!
Absolutely wonderfoul music 🎹🎶
❤️
I liked this on both my school account and my personal email to demonstrate how much I approve of this
thank you
wow this is a really good composition ❤
why are you like this
Nu numai talent, dar si o serie de calitati rare, fara care e imposibila o performanta de acest fel - bravo!
Nah lmao this sounds pathetic compared to Liszt's version
nooooo it's not bc liszt's version is better it's just a skill issue on my end :| don't do my mans moszkowski like that
@@AndrewWuMusic lol
soooooooo clean
what a cute baby grand :D
Don’t listen to what the haters say, you’re doing great, especially for a week working on this monster of a piece! Keep grinding 😤
If your piano teacher thinks this is just noise, show by them some sorabji and see what they think of the ballade afterwards
Nothing by Liszt is just noise
excellent job, I loved it, beautiful sound! Btw is the piano a Steinway/Boston?
thank you! Boston :)
it is not Showpan, it is Chopin.
wrong
@@AndrewWuMusic , why is it wrong? i know it is pronounced "showpan" but it is Chopin.
@@owlperchedsilo3745 it’s literally showpan I don’t know what to tell you
Awesome technique and great sonorities! What's the piece?
This is seriously amazing. Subbed.
thank you!
Good video friend!! Sound nice 😊good sunday
thank you!!
@@AndrewWuMusic You’re welcome friend
Wow, you play really beautifully! Liszt is definitely my favorite composer.
thank you!
I really like the section at m62-63
r u just gonna comment this under every clip
Good job sir!
Very nice! I also liked how you gradually went softer after 2:15. I particularly liked the part at 2:35, something about it - can't explain - made me appreciate it.
AMAZING!!! so beautiful
Way too much pedal... particularly under those big arpeggios. Blurrrrr, blurrrrrrrrrr. Listen to how it comes across over TH-cam. Keep up the good work.
i disagree but thank you for your input
I think the pedal is really tasteful in this. Arpeggios are supposed to be pedaled especially in a piece like this.
amazing
🎃
Very talented !

Why the fuck are you wearing a mask
the actual climax sounds hilarious to me being used to the liszt transcription
