I love this lens for the size, sharpness, speed, versatility and the close focusing which is a huge advantage. I bought it rather than the 180-600mm since I own the Z 800mm already for long distance wildlife. I don’t care about the VR switch since it is always on. It is so small and light that I never have it on a tripod. First thing I did was take the foot off. I now am considering selling my 70-200/2.8 as it is rarely used. I take the 24-70/2.8, 100-400, and 800mm most every where I go now and it covers the whole range up to 1,600mm. If you cannot afford the 100-400 the 180-600 is a great lens.

Lidar works with rs3? Not pro

Yeah. It looks great. Both the way it looks and the way it performs. The only thing that puts me off is that extending barrel. I've been studying it for months now. This review, apart from being a very good review, again, sounds very very positive about it. I want to take it to town, literally. Treat and capture people as wildlife, as part of my approach in social photography. I've been using the 70-200 for that during most of the F-era. Would love to step beyond that 200mm distance and even in some cases use it at 800mm with a TC. Tnx for reviewing.

Completamente deacuerdo con tu video Felicidades, hay que ver el rendimiento que da la Sony a7RV en fotografia nocturna por lo demas, esta es mi experiencia con la Sony A1:Decepción de la Sony A1, jamas volvere a realizar una inversión asi, y menos despues de lo que me ha ocurrido, Mas ahora sale otra camara con mas funciones, creo podrian actualizar a al sony A1, de la misma empresa o bien de la competencia, y mas baratas, Sony prefiere sacar otros modelos y dejar tirados los que tiene desde hace años, por otro lado quiero comertar lo sucedido con mi producto y manifestar que Sony no cuida a sus Clientes, ni con firware ni cambiando el producto este es mi caso: Ah si si la opiion de un producto no es buena, no la ponen en su pagina web. Un año después no recomiendo la Sony A1 a mi personalmente, me ha dado muchos problemas desde el segundo mes que la adquirí, y sigue dándolos, a lo mejor he tenido mala suerte con esta unidad, pero no me convence, jamás invertiré. Primero fue la wifi, al primer mes de tenerla un poco mas era abril, mayo, paso por SAT, ahora el color, hace como una especie de halos, como si se reventase, y ahora a veces no me detecta los objetivos y sale el número f. parpadeando aparte de quedarse colgada, y no tiene más que unos 10 mil disparos, y superbién cuidada, y con el 200- 600 me da problemas de enfoque es mi humilde opinión me consta que a otro usuario le paso lo mismo no sé si se la cambiaron o no. Solo quiero que funcione al 100x100. Y actualizaciones ni de firmware ni una. tocara otra vez enviarla al Sat y quedarme sin camara, lo buenos es que son rapidos y parecen eficientes, los nuevos problemas salieron despues

Thanks for the fantastic video! I am still confused. LiDAR seems to work on rs3 (not rs3 pro) too? There are different opinions in the comment section beyond this video. Would you please confirm? Don’t know which version to buy. LiDAR is my main “thing” to go for. But I do not need the heavier payload of the pro version. Thanks and greetings!

The only video I found that shows the real flaws of this lens. Every other video praises this lens and tells how unbelievably good it is. I got it yesterday and was suprised (negatively) how crappy the performance is. I think my expectations were just too high, since I only shoot macro normally. Now I know at least that I'm not too stupid to use this lens but that the quality is just as it is. Gonna sell it again I think.

This is a fantastic video comparison of the two versions. Before seeing this I ended up with the standard version and sort of wish I bought the Pro version. I wanted to get the new Lidar but I was told that it would only work with the pro version, but it looks like you have it working on both. Can you please confirm this (my fingers are crossed)? Excellent review, thank you so much! I will get a test copy next weekend from my dealer, and then I will decide. But after your review here I am pretty sure that for my purposes it could be perfect: Mainly landscapes and some wildlife, especially smaller but shy animals at closer distances like frogs, snakes and dragonflies.

Wait, did you say the 8K in this camera is 420? I thought it would at least be 422, considering the canon R5 shoots 12 bit raw.

Is the Lidar included with the Pro? Or is that a separate device?

am just an enthusiast, not pro at all. I use an a7iii with Tamron lenses… plus, I rarely use manual focus lenses. With this in mind, I simply won’t need RS3 Pro. However, I really really want the Transmission system and the active track. For this, I understand I can use the Transmission system along with RS3 and that should be enough. I will be losing out on LiDar support. I’m tempted by the carbon fiber body, and I may find the smaller handle slightly less comfortable. But what else will I be losing if I go with the RS3 and not the RS3 Pro?

Thank you for making this videos,,،So the RS3 combo which is a continuation of the (RC2 combo) doesn't come with RavenEye nor the phone mount thing? Can you use your phone for active track pro with the (RS3 combos) or do you still need to buy the RavenEye separately?

Thank you! My copy of this lens just arrived. I rarely shoot video, but I have been trying to shoot some moose and deer video with the 100-400, 1.4TC, and Z7. So far, I've failed to control camera motion for acceptable video. Did you shoot at all with a tripod? Maybe the Z7 is so much worse than the Z9 at controlling camera motion. Maybe I just need more muscle and more practice. What do you think?
