I just got an electric stapler and it's a game changer!
Hello where did you get that template might have said it or I missed it ?
These patterns are custom made. You can check them out here: darlingleatherandfur.com/collections/patterns-tutorials
Thank you for your video. I have a Sable coat that is dull and dirty. It smells musty. I bought it online as a vintage coat. I want to clean it. It needs repair and I can sew the lining but I want to restore the fur. I read once that a solution of 1 part vinegar with four parts water to spray on and brush with a soft bristle brush as you did. Any tips for me? I am going to sponge the lining with Folex as I have done to clean other linings in Vintage furs.
Thanks for reaching out and watching my video. I'll direct you to Deanna McCormick on this one. She works with vintage coats, repurposing and cleaning, so she might even have a video for you. Contact her here: deannamccormick80@gmail.com.
@@darlingleatherandfur Thank you so much!
Hello new subscriber from Michigan, I was searching videos on how to make a throw which I have New Zealand meat rabbits that we use for the hides or pelts as I should say and I'm wanting to make my own throws and blankets to be able to sell then later so I came across your video and I wish it was something a little longer more explanatory it was just pretty quick and I understand that it takes a long time to do stuff like this but I subscribe to your channel so I'm going to look into see if you have any other videos that are a little more lengthy and a little more explanatory but this was helpful thank you so much and God bless you all.
Thank you for following! Yes, there is so much more to making the blanket, and the full video would be hours long, so it's hard to get something like that available. Check out the website for pattern and blog information that might help with sewing questions. There will also be classes in the future. I'm not sure what will be covered yet, but if you check out the website, darlingleatherandfur.com/, you can sign up for email notifications and get up to date alerts!
You wouldn’t happen to have a tutorial and pattern for a pair of Fur Glommits now would you I’ve been really wanting to make myself a pair of fur mitts but also want something that offers a bit more dexterity for outdoor activities
Not at this time. All patterns are posted and available to purchase online here: darlingleatherandfur.com/collections/patterns-tutorials. You can sign up for emails and I'll send out notifications on any new products!
Why is it important to mark the center line and account for it when you cut your pattern?
Mark the centerline on the back of the pelt so all the pattern pieces look symmetrical on the fur side. It’s most important when working with a pelt that has distinctive fur on the spine, like coyote.
Great video sure helped me with your patterns I bought
Excellent! Glad the patterns worked out for you.
Very nicely done. I completed one this summer for a friend, it was four skins in length and seven in width. It turned out “OK” but didn’t really fit the bed it was built for. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for posting them and please continue to post more.
It’s good to know you’re learning from my videos! I have patterns for sale on my website here if you are interested in making more! darlingleatherandfur.com/collections/patterns-tutorials
@ Thank you. I have purchased your mittens and hat patterns.
Wonderful video! Thanks for your time and effort!😊😊
Thank you for watching!
Good work! Those mittens look warm!
They most definitely are!! Thank you
I'm saving this video!!! ^-^ I want to learn when I grab the materials!
Excellent! Can't wait to see what you create! :)
This is why it pays to buy her patterns with the tutorials! Not only do you make a fabulous item from her patterns, you learn so much that will be used on other projects! This lady is amazing!
@@dennyhogeland5901 Thanks Denny!
Do you make other things with coyote hides
Yes! Check out the website for everything I offer! darlingleatherandfur.com/
Hi! Wondering what sewing machine that is?? Would love to invest in one!
The Techsew 202 is the one I use and recommend. Thanks for watching!
Can you link where you get your purse straps from? So many options and its tough to tell what is good quality and what is pleather!
You can check out Springfieldleather.com for quality leather strapping.
I ordered one of these its coming on November 13 my bday!😊
Excellent!
2 beaver pelts makes 1 pair of mittens?
@@sz2352 It depends on the size of the pelts and the size of the mittens 👍 Too many variables to cover all of them, 2 XL pelts for one pair of XL mittens is just guidelines for a starting point.
Hello again, i love this . Would you have an extra coyote laying somewhere that you would like to sell. I've read you wont accept more orders but I've been searching for one similar like this with full ears and head like this beautiful.
Nothing on hand to sell, but you can check out Glacierwear.com for good prices on quality pelts. Also, check out hideandfur.com for pelts with taxidermy quality faces.
Just wow!!
Thanks
Nice video, I have a question. I just bought a Eastern coyote pelt for what I think was a good price. But one of the ears is kind of folded or missing I cannot say. Do you think make sense to sew an ear ?
I don't think sewing on an ear to replace the missing one would look as good, but you can always try if you have an extra one.
Where are you located
SE Michigan
What is that machine called amd where can i get one!
It is a techsew202, and you can check out their website at techsew.com.
What’s the cost on a trapper hat if I send you the hides?

Can I send in my own beaver tail hide for you to make one.

Is it less expensive if I send my own tail in.
Beautiful coyote blanket! Thanks for demonstrating the process.

Beautiful coyote blanket! Thanks for demonstrating the process.
You are so welcome!
Do you ever teach classes or sell instructions for hobbyists?
Rebecca doesn't teach classes ;however its been a consideration for the future! if you send an email with your interest in classes and what specifically you'd like to learn, she can add it to her list! She DOES sell patterns and tutorials for some of the things she makes! Check them out on her website www.darlingleatherandfur.com. Mysti
Very nice!
Thanks!
First!
Can you sew a fur ruff on a removable hood if i provide the tanned fur?
Possibly, depending on the details. Can you email me at info@darlingleatherandfur.com and we can see what we can get done for you?
This is really cool! I would love how to do this one day with the “gremlins” that try to eat my chickens!!
I have a Facebook pattern chat group you could follow for more advice and info if you want to try your hand! facebook.com/groups/darlingleatherandfurpdfpatternchat I also have patterns for sale on my website, but without the step by step tutorials. darlingleatherandfur.com/collections/patterns-tutorials
Do you make the liners?
I buy each layer separately for the lining; I don't make the lining myself.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful work. I think beaver tail leather can be useful for a lot of things but its difficult to find tanneries willing to tan them. Have you found a (dependable) source?
Tanneries are few and far between when searching! I have a few listed in my FAQs on my website if you need a starting point! darlingleatherandfur.com/pages/faq
I didnt know about the process of blocking to flatten. Thank you for expanding my know how
You are most welcome!
First!
What tannery do you use for beaver tails
I have a few tannery options listed on my FAQ page! Check it out. darlingleatherandfur.com/pages/faq
How many years of sewing experience do you have?
Rebecca has been sewing professionally since 2016!
She knows her stuff! ! ! @@darlingleatherandfur
Nice, I would love to gain this skill.
I learned by watching my mom sew and getting hands on experience. Check out my website for available PDF Pattern tutorials! You can learn too! darlingleatherandfur.com/
you sure are an expert
I learn what I can and share what I learn :)
Fabulous. Hats like these are so warm they are great for when you are sitting, rather than walking, as it gets so warm! Great for ice fishing, etc.
Beautiful lady, beautiful furs ♥
Thank you very much!
Muskrat fur has quite fragile leather, isn't it?
Yes. It is thinner than other species, especially the bellies.
Isn't it inefficient to use full skins for such small items? Won't the leftovers of furs used for larger items do it as well?
Rebecca tries to use any scrap pieces for other items :) Mysti
Me too! <3
Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for supporting them! :)
