Welcome to the BAKING BIKER. I love to bake and I love riding my motorcycle with my husband Rick. I've been sharing my recipes and my motorcycle videos on my SCONE BAKING AND BEYOND TH-cam channel, where I have subscribers for both baking and motorcycling. Now that I bought a new 2019 TRIUMPH TIGER 800 XRx LOW, I decided it's time to start a new motorcycle TH-cam channel.
I hope you enjoy our motorcycle adventures.

Another great video - thank you Cathy - fabulous to re- live the tour 👍🏻💕
Thank you so much. We really enjoyed travelling around Morocco with you. Looking forward to more adventures.
Thank you that was very helpful. I’m at 47,000 miles and I’m going to send mine in for a service. At the moment it works great on all roads in dynamic and road is a waste of time. It has worn to this from your situation.
Glad it helped.
There is only morocan Tee 😅
I really think BMW Motorrad should do these types of videos of the users. Good job for the rest us👍👏
We watch other videos on TH-cam that show us how to make repairs on our motorcycles and cars, and repairs around the house. That's why we decided to make this video. Thank you!
Did they change forks from the 1200 to the 1250? The bmw service manual says that for the 1250 put in 521ml. I checked microsoft copilot, and it said approx. 500ml. And you say 682ml. The manual also specifies using "telescopic fork oil type 2. Which is 11.5w. Not far off of your 10W. 520 makes the most sense, because it forces you to buy 2 litres. Cheeky way for BMW to make more money. What's your thoughts on this?
Thanks for your questions, but I don't really know if they changed the amount of fork oil to be added between the 1200 and 1250 models. You could check the BMW Parts site to see if the part numbers for the forks are different between the two models. The left fork on my 1200 with ESA only takes 304 ml because the cartridge inside it is sealed, unlike the cartridge in the right fork, which must be purged. The BMW manual for the 1200 and the Haynes manual both stipulate 682 ml for the right, non-ESA, fork (and 304 ml for the ESA or left fork). I got the 10W oil specification from the Haynes manual. As you said the BMW manual just specifies using their brand (Type 2 fork oil). Thanks to you I now know what weight BMW specifies At least in the case of the 1200 with ESA 1 liter of fork oil is enough to do the job. I hope this helps. Again, thank you for asking.
Can i use vegetable oil instead of fork oil...😀🥩
Ha ha, uh NO!! :-)
Hi Cathy and Rick, great video! Looking forward to future episodes! 😘🏍
Thank you. We really enjoyed riding around Morocco with our IMTBike guides and fellow motorcyclists.
Beautiful Mount Rainier National Park. Usually I ride there in Summer but this year I will ride there in Fall. Thanks for this beautiful video.
That was the first time we rode to Mt. Rainier in the fall. The east entrance isn’t as crowded as the west by Ashford. Enjoy your ride! ❤️🏍️
Hi Baking Biker, thank you for making this video because I will ride with my friends to Winthrop and Diablo Lake area. The scenic drive and mountains are beautiful! Your video quality and editing are great, I like it! Have a nice day.
Sounds great! Hwy. 20, the North Cascades Highway is one of favorites. Enjoy your ride. ❤️🏍️
Do you still have it?
Yes, and I still love it 24,000 miles later.
Thanks for taking us along on the colorful autumn ride. I sold my last bike (Bonneville) when I stopped riding 7 years ago at age 65, but still miss it - especially every springtime, like right now in May. Ken in Bellingham, WA.
What fun!!
Awesome. Planning a trip coming up through Colorado after seeing Monument Valley and this is perfect.
Thank you. We’re looking forward to a ride to Monument Valley this summer.
😲
hey! I didn't understand very well. How much fork oil wears the electronic telescopic, por favor?
According to the manual, the left fork with the electronic cartridge takes 304 ml and the right fork takes 682 ml of 10W fork oil.
Thank you for the info! Much appreciated! Your trip to Spain looked fabulous!! I hope to do a trip like that sometime in the future!
I hope you do. It was a fantastic trip. I’ve learned to just go for it before I get too old.
About Consuegra windmills, pls take a look at Miguel de Cervantes writer. His masterpiece is tightly related with those. Looking forward to see your videos at Portugal (I'm portuguese ST1300 owner😉😆)
My husband is currently reading Don Quixote. We had a great visit in Porto and Lisbon, and we hope to return soon.
I really enjoy your channel! Thanks for all the great videos. I ride the same bike as your husband and wondered what handle bars he has installed? They don't look like stock and seem to have him sitting more upright than I am with my stock bars.
He put on a Wunderlich handle bar with Heli bar risers (the Heli bar risers are for the R1200R not the RS). It required re-routing the clutch hose behind the triple clamp. I hope this helps.
you are truly number 1!! both for the excellent work carried out and for publishing this fundamental video for all of us who love to do the work independently. Thanks from Italy
Thank you!
I’ve had my 2016 R1200RS from new. I too find my ESA rear shock too bouncy in ROAD mode especially two up. As the miles have risen DYNAMIC seems to have become less firm and I now use it all the time. Thank you for your fork video. I plan on doing mine. I’m also thinking of renewing the seals while I’m at it at 44,000 miles. Does the lhs leg come apart the same as the rhs one? Peter
Yes, they come apart the same. You just have to deal with the wire on the lhs (it's attached to the cartridge inside). Good luck on the seals.
@@bakingbiker All done. Quite straightforward. Thanks.
This is my first comment from Japan. Thank you for showing me the scenery of a foreign country for one year. I'm looking forward to seeing your touring videos next year. Have a great new year !
Thank you too!
What time of year was your tour and which IMTBike Tour was this? Thanks for sharing. A few years back I actually rode from Spain to Portugal along Door River on bicycle. I always said to myself someday I'll come back and do it on motorcycle. Some great twisty roads.
We took the tour in mid-late April. It was the Portugal & Central Spain Motorcycle Tour Land of Conquistadors. I highly recommend taking an IMTBike tour. We plan to take another next spring. Here's a link to their website: www.imtbike.com/
Great video. Curious how your experience was flying with multiple stops from U.S. to Madrid. Any issues with checked luggage and all the bike gear? Anything get lost or delayed? Did you carry helmets with you or in checkin bag? I am in Wash./DC area and surprise I cannot get a direct flight to either Madrid or Malaga.
Since we live in the Seattle area, there aren't any direct flights to Spain. My husband and I are both skiers so we used our ski boot bags for all our motorcycle gear, including our helmets. We used the padding from our jackets and pants to pad the helmet. Those bags were checked in. We didn't have any problems with our checked luggage. We flew British Airways with a 3 hour layover in London Heathrow. I always plan a 3-4 hour layover at Heathrow in case there are any delays with our flight, and the time to go through passport control, customs, and terminal changes. There aren't any direct flights to Spain from Sea-Tac Airport. I'm surprised you can't find a direct flight to Madrid from the east coast. If you go, have a great trip. Motorcycling in Spain and Portugal was beautiful and fun. Most drivers are motorcycle friendly. Here's a link to IMTBike's website: www.imtbike.com/
I wonder if people in Portugal and Spain do ride moto during the winter?
I'm sure in parts of Spain where the weather is more mild.
The beach viewpoint was stunning!
It really is! Beautiful ride along the coast.
We traveled with IMT bike on a self guided tour of Northern Spain. It was quite an adventure. My wife and I rode our own motorcycle which we had shipped from Canada. We had been riding in Europe for nearly eight weeks when we arrived in Spain to meet some friends who had come over from Canada. The friends rented motorcycles from IMT bikes. We rode from Barcelona to Northern Spain via the Pyrenees. What an adventure. I hope your trip went well.
Thank you. We had a great tour with IMTBike.
Portugal have beatifull places to visit and great views...enjoy your ride.
Just starting to watch your Spain videos. I watched lots of your other videos they are really good you guys do a great job 👍🏻 what happened to your eye?
Glad you like them! On the first night, Rick ran into a wall in our room in the dark. Got a black eye. Thank you for asking.
Loved the video, looks like an amazing adventure!
It was! Thank you.
I JUST FOUND YOUR 'SITE' HERE. ENJOYED LOTS. I RIDE SOME BUT NOT TOO FAR ANYMORE. TOO OLD.
Thank you very much for your explaination
Kathy is the Goat , shes a keeper. Im gona use this video to do my s1000rr forks next summer thanks im at 16000, 2010
I did this same ride on my Triumph Street Twin last fall, except I started in Durango & ended up in Montrose. THX!!!
I think we need to go back and do the ride again but start in Durango like you.
Where did you get the special tools?
A motorcycle fork spring compressor kit universal from hundredproof on Amazon Marketplace.
@@bakingbiker Thank you
I love the music you play starting at about 8 minutes past the video. I wanna know who the musician is.
Glad you like it. I don't know the musician. It's part of my video editing software, Filmora.
Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful!
so let me get this straight you have to make a reservation to use a state highway just because it goes through a national park what is a person to do if you do not have a reservation
The reservations are only on busy times of the year. If you don’t have a reservation, you have to take an alternate route. Our National Parks are getting so crowded with tourists that there are traffic jams and not enough parking available, so they now have to limit the amount of vehicles entering. Check with each National Park for their entry requirements.
Enjoying this series. Thanks for it!
Great scenery, as always. Thanks for sharing. Godspeed
what an amazing couple ❤️
So many gorgeous and interesting places you have been and are going! RB was telling me about some of these travels he has watched and enjoyed, too.
Thank you, though we miss skiing with you at Sun Valley. Once I finally finish our Colorado adventures, we have already made a 2 week motorcycle trip abroad and will be posting that hopefully next month.
Wow, thanks so much for posting this. Hard enough to change the oil, way harder to try to film and get all the lighting and processes right, so thanks for going to all the trouble. Has to be said, Kathy steals the show! What a smiling face, keep your lupin blue RS (like mine) but more important, keep her! Any video you do, she needs a cameo!
🤣🤣🤣
