Clothing from Marvelous Designer into Daz Studio dForce with Genesis 9
This shows how to export a G9 female (or male) character from Daz and how to import clothing back. It's an updated version of an earlier video to show how G9 changes the export and import processes slightly. I also show a few options you can choose incorrectly during the transfer utility and what effect they have.

Faster Daz Clothing Simulation

Simulating clothing with dForce in Daz Studio. Essentially I show you two ways to ignore Hair, and the speed difference when doing so.
Daz Studio and GPU Rendering on RTX2060 12Gb
I've just installed a fairly budget Geforce RTX2060 12GB graphics card, so here's a brief look at how it performs in Daz. Coming from a GTX1050 Ti 4GB this has given significant boost to simulation and rendering speeds. At the moment you can pick up a RTX2060 12GB for about £300 to £350 in the UK.
Free 3D resources I use
Just three of my most visited web sites for 3D resources, such as objects, textures and HDRI's. If you have any suggestions for other, comment below. Shown here: turbosquid.com - for models in various formats and prices (or free) polyhaven.com - for models, textures and HDRI's, all free 3dtextures.me - for textures (free or donate)
Daz Figure as Marvelous Designer Avatar
If you're going to create clothing for Daz in MD, you need your Daz figure in MD. Here's how I created mine and a very quick demo to show that it works.
Daz and Marvelous Designer, surfaces, dForce and Draping
A bit of a long video about making clothing fit close, keeping it in place and finally draping over furniture. I cover the Skin Offset and how it affects the size of clothing and two ways to fix a belt around the waist The second half of the video deals with sitting a figure on furniture using the timeline to slide them into the position.
Marvelous Designer to Daz with Textures, Opacity, Normal, etc.
A little more detail about getting textures across correctly. In this example I'm putting a lace material with opacity onto a dress and it covers aligning the images in MD and ensuring they look the same in Daz. Again, any suggestions on future videos are welcome.
Adding dForce to Static Hair (yet another method)
I know there's countless tutorials on dForcing old hair, but I'm trying to make it look more natural and faster to implement. I do this by progressively selecting the tops of strands and applying a smooth weight map. The example in this video is quite subtle but hopefully you'll agree it's effective.
Textures from Marvelous Designer into Daz, and HDRI lighting
I show how you can get UV and texture maps from Marvelous Designer to display correctly in Daz Studio. I also show you how to handle HDRI environment images and scale them for your scene. Materials shown from 3dtextures.me/ Environment maps from polyhaven.com/ Excuse the little change in audio near the end. I had software issues during recording!
Don't render before you check! (Daz Studio)
My own checklist of things to check before you render a 3D scene. I'm using Daz Studio as my example but it's mostly applicable in any rendering software. I quite quickly skip along, so here's the main points: 1. Ground Position 2. Contact Points 3. Focus 4. Lighting 5. Camera Angle 6. Resolution 7. Look at?
Export and Import Daz Studio and 3DS Max to Scale
I export a Genesis 8.1 female from Daz into 3DS keeping the scale correct. This lets me create objects in 3DS to scale and positioned on the body correctly, before exporting back from 3DS into Daz. I tinkered for a long time to get the scale and orientation correct, but this is the edited highlights of it working. I use the example of a simple necklace to prove how to conform and simulate the n...
Wearing underwear in Daz Studio with dForce
Unlike superheros, most of time you want the underwear under the clothing. In this video I show how you can expand and contract the outer clothing layers during a dForce simulation to make it correct.
Daz Studio - fitting dForce hair under a hat
How I pushed a hat onto a head of dForce-enabled hair for more realistic "hat hair", instead of just hiding geometry. You will need to know the basics of the Daz Studio timeline and simulating frames to it using keyframes. I briefly run through this. Your success may also depend on the nature of the hair you're using. In this example I'm using a quite low poly strip-based hair I converted to dF...
Particle Distance in Marvelous Designer - How it affects dForce in Daz Studio
When creating clothing in MD, the particle distance will affect the simulation in Daz's dForce in a few ways, including simulation time, stretch and detail. This video shows some simple "poncho-like" shapes draped over an avatar. I've used 20, 10, 5 and 2 as particle sizes and it'll show you the benefits and side-effects.
Clothing from Marvelous Designer into Daz Studio dForce
This shows my usual method of exporting models from MD 10 and importing into Daz. I turn them into dForce clothing for simulation and explain some of the reasons for what I do. It's a fairly fast process and I'm assuming you know your way around both applications. There's plenty of existing tutorials out there that I've picked up tips from, but this brings them together. (6th Nov 2022) I've cre...
