In today's video, Jay and Rice service a lovely MK7.5 Golf R Haldex system. Upon removing the Haldex pump, they notice the strainer was severely blocked meaning it is running much less efficient than it could of been, making the vehicle more likely to have a haldex pump failure. Thanks guys. Really interesting video and helpful. I need to do mine soon. Do you remember how many miles this vehicle had done as you mentioned that you didn't think the filter had every been removed.
Had the same issue on my Q5 2019, had a stage I on it, and drove pretty hard for a few thousand miles. I went to a competent indep mechanic who told me it's worth it to flush (2 oil changes in a row) and lowered stage 1 reprog before doing anything. No issue for a few thousand miles, shall I carry on and just perform oil change every 10K miles ?
You forgot to mention that if your DSG has a red overflow pipe, you have to turn it fully in and then 2 full turn back then you make the level. If it's a beige overflow pipe, just turn it fully in and make the level.
Have you got a part number for the filter

@JCR-Leeds thanks
Congratulations for the video guys , just a question can I use same oil for golf gti trc 2019 ?
Thankyou! Yes its the same :)
Good video. I did mine a few days ago. I used a tube with adaptors on that I got from amazon to put the new fluid in, went in quick after making a small hole at the bottom of the bottle. I wasn't sure the car was totally level on ramps and axle stands so put the plug in when the fluid slowed a little, could have been just pumping through but I put 7 litres in and must have drained off about half a litre. Can't see the little difference in checking the fluid level at a specific temperature being that important tbh. I got the filter off from the top without removing anything else, took ages, and I'd got the wrong filter to replace, had to put the old one back in while waiting for new one.
Can i use the reference G055 for fifth generation ??
👍
I can't seem to find anything on my Kamiq 1.5 7 speed dual clutch. I think it's a dry clutch? However does the oil need to be changed and at what time?
Hi, yours should be fitted with a DQ200 which when servicing is simply replacement of the mechatronic oil and gear oil. There is no advice from manufacturer on when this box should be serviced as they say its sealed for life, but we would say every 40k like the rest.
Pavs auto valet/detailing and his Golf R is the filthiest R I've ever seen. 🤔
🤣🤣 I will tell him! Allthough we have told him this before lol
@@JCR-Leeds 🤣🤣🤣
How much oil goes in? Can you use brake cleaner to clean that filter?
I forgot to drain the macatronic, and i fill like 4L is it something bad?
Good man
That oil looks clean. What is the minimum and maximum period to change dsg oil on a Golf? What happens if a vehicle has exceeded the minimum period? I heard that older VW DSG's the oil needed to be changed at 40k and newer vw's from 2020 its 75k
DQ250 is supposed to be 30k miles and DQ381 which is 2019 or newer is 80k miles. I probably wouldn't go 80k miles though. Depending on your driving maybe do it at 50-60k. German cars love their scheduled maintenance
good video but I think you're missing a part while after fulling with 6literes, on running engine you change gearshift position for each (P, R, N, D/S) for few seconds that oil can go through mechatronic as well
Thanks, yeah we did forget to mention this in the video (it is always done however), we may film again in our new unit with more info on these DQ381 boxes :)
Top video, also rang them to get some advise before I did the service myself, very helpful information and friendly.
And I'm guessing you dropped the overflow plug by two turns and cycled through the gears to fully distribute the new oil off camara, right? 🤠
it depends on overflow plug color, beige one should be unscrew by 2 turns while red/orange one should stay as it is after it was screwed with 3Nm
Looking forward to watching how this build progresses. How much did you guys pay for the car?
Pricing will be revealed soon :)
Hi buddy i think ive got a similar leak on my dq381 tracked down the outer seal do you have a part number for the inner seal ?
Hi mate, unfortunately after looking at the other seal they actually don't have part numbers stamped on them
Its got to be from Burnley or Bingley.... no no it must be from Batley!! Well done on finding that rubberised cap seal thingie bobby, nice little job that is, and love to see you guys on screen.
Cheers matt, nice to see you enjoying the videos!
I'll be following this as I have the same engine in my Tarraco 🤔
Nice, I bet that surprises some cars 😎
How much are we talking for the stage 2 and labour to the public?
It can vary by car, but typically you'd be looking around £3.5k as a drive in drive out service. It would only include the basic hardware - Intake, Intercooler, Downpipe and ECU TCU software. The world is your oyster with all the other mods you could do such as coilpacks, full exhaust etc :)
I can’t wait for this build! And you rarely see people work on a ateca cupra.
We can't wait to see what this car can do :)
Great detailed video, thank you.... Looking to get this done on my Octavia mk3 vrs245
Looks crap with them black badges. Straight out of Halfords
As another filling alternative, can I fill the transmission oil over the top of the oil filter opening with a funnel?
Has anyone tried an alternative to super expensive VAG oem fluid? Was thinkinging febi / millers / westway for about a third of the price
I used ravenol dct-dsg the gold one and I can recommend it :) I see no extra value in Vag OEM
Hi, i just did oil service on my dq381 and they only filled 5liters of oil how its that possible they checked the level its ok??
thats too little. They cant "check it" there is no checking it. Once the nuts done up with the wrong about of oil. There is no checking. My advice is get it done properly or else its a 6k bill for a new one.
Im changing every 20000km by myselfe.
there's no need to change it in such interval, every 60000km is just fine
did these gearboxes have a recall for faulty hydraulic pumps ?
Have you got a part number for the filling tool/adapter please?
Saludos desde Chile mi pregunta es: La mecatronica se llena con aceite desde el mismo tapón de la transmisión?
How much you charge for that
Does every Golf 7.5 (for ex. 150 horse power) has DQ381 DSG or is it only for Golf R/GTI ?
DQ381 is in R, Gti, 2.0 tdi 110kw and GTD. In 1.5 tsi 110kw is DQ200
@@orumslv Thanks!
Manual states to set the level with the overflow pipe 2 turns out, once set screw back in and fit drain plug with new washer.
If you're going to do Tiktoks, buy garage light bulbs that cycle at higher than 60htz, to stop the flashing
Great explanation. Thanks. Planning on doing this on my GTI Performance pack soon. Wanted to check the filter gauze as well.
Does the ST 300 4drive version with the haldex system in the back have this in the front aswell?
Great video. Helped me save a bit of money aswell using Febi’s oil
gti 7 clubsport no dcc need to change oil too?*
does level check need to be done with engine running ?
Yeah 👍🏻
Are these front diffs the same as those fitted to the Golf Mk7 Performance pack and the Octavia 3 245? What is the recommended service interval? Thanks for the video.
Wow
Put some gloves on my mate. DSG fluid contains Boric acid and is a especially harmful to eyes and skin.. its a 5r for a massive Box of latex gloves.
Does this method (or DQ381 gearbox) allow to empty gearbox completely or does some old oil remains in the unit? Was this design changed from previous/6-speed DSGs to be able to drain it completely without flush changing the oil?
It always has some fluid left in the mechatronics just as the old DQ500 and DQ250. It is not possible to drain fluid from the mechatronic unit unless you remove it from the transmission. If you would like to change the fluid completely(though nonsense), change the fluid twice.
Surely the valve is obsolete on this system as there isn’t any back box to bypass
this is exactly why main dealer service history is BS. main dealers are not going to this kind of detail on a haldex service... main dealer probably wouldnt know about this .. independent all trhe way for me
I changed my pump today, my pump ended up needing to being replaced. So he’s right 100%

Great video and great help, thanks mate 🥰
