He's just flaunting his mediocre kill streak, against very dubious players. His farm rate on Invoker is pretty sub-standard if not a little low.

KingVanilla Invoker changed a lot. Now mana management has become even more important amd that early mana regen can make a great deal of difference... Invoker is the most versatile hero in the game and I found out that you need to carefully chose your build and abilities progress differently in every game. I can't really help you with that. There's no silver bullet. And I'm quite not yet there either...

Agree with Daniele, it's difficult to pinpoint now what items and builds are the best. Needs some experimenting on your part. I haven't played much Dota since 7.00, I am not a fan of the update to say the least. But Invoker is indeed versatile, he's not a hero that really falls off, he's always just hanging on every meta, waiting for his next major meta to flaunt. In terms of laning, it's very important to get ahead of your opponent, because if left alone, Invoker can beat any hero mid if played right, he can adapt to almost every mid lane hero. For example Storm vs Invoker would call for Quas-Wex build, instead of Exhort. He's very flexible because of this. Focus on last hitting. The way Invoker right clicks. The timing of it. Get a rough idea of last hitting with Exhort, and then with Quas, and then with Wex, see how they are all different. Get used to pushing the lane (getting all the last hits of course) and then going into your closest jungles and taking out the camp with help of forge spirits until the lane pushes back your side. This takes practice, but you can effectively stack camps if you time it right. Learn to position yourself. If you find that you aren't getting ganked or troubled in lane, then assert your dominance by pushing him near his tower, this screws with your opponent, especially at your mmr. Half the battle is in your positioning. If you are on the ropes, don't over extend, keep a wraps on the map, and use your forge spirits and alacrity. But keep Ghost Walk in mind in both situations, you never know what might be ahead! Invoker is a very situational hero, so don't let your team dictate what you need to do. If you feel teamfight is the way to go, then build Quas-Wex. If you feel farming Voker is best, then stay mid, push the lane and clear camps for a while. Get used to combos that work well together and in what order to use them. If you feel farming is better, than Wex-Exhort is better. Octarine isn't really core on Invoker. It's situational. Sometimes Hex/Linkens/Refreshers/Orchid are better. Aghs and a mobility item (Blink/Forcestaff) are core. Bkb is semi-core, obviously you'll know when it's needed. This is only some things about Invoker. A lot of this stuff I've mentioned is very pre-7.00 but I think a lot of it is still applicable. Try it out and watch other players like Miracle, w33, etc. pay attention to the things I mentioned, good luck!

well said. I also add that Invoker can also be an hard hitter and be played without aghanim shepter... That hero really can do anything and because of that is the hardest to play. Leveling for him is the most important thing for this reason I avoid ganking with invoker unless I'm totally sure I can do a successful gank or the situation calls for it. Most teams I played with do not understand that and sometimes complain for lack of gank early game.

Good point, and omg tell me about it. If I had a dollar for everytime my team keep asking me to gank for the sake of it, I would be rich...
