I would be quite disappointed as well if I wanted to spend quality time with friends and have it more less ruined, just cause another person comes in and disrupts the whole thing. I think ive reached a point life where I would have no problems telling someone to "take a short walk off a long pier" if it means I can spend quality time with my friends. Edit: I was being hyperbolic, I would just tell them id want to spend time with my friends and not have them disrupt that.

I've had the outsider thing happen to me when my family moved to a smaller town in Sweden, was quite active for a time in one of the churches. One of the things that sort of sucked was that people already had established friend groups, I didn't think of that much at the time and thought if people wanted to talk they could approach me. What I learned from that is that if you want friend's, you pretty much need to be the one initiating (unless you have a friend that introduces you to other people). I had some friends from school, so it wasn't that much of an issue, pretty much lost all of them when I moved away so... meh. 5:25 "more friends = less time for each friend" This is why I get sceptical when some people say they have hundreds of "friends", cause friendship takes time both to develop and maintain. Having too many would end up with some not getting any or barely getting any time, some people are OK with that and that's good for them, allot of people aren't OK with that. If you just keep making friends, easy to fall into the trap of running around and trying to maintain way too many friendships, makes me think of why I am a recluse when I play Stardew Valley (at least at the start of every game).

A woman asking for marriage before 6 months is like a man asking for sex on the first date. Maybe honesty is the correct thing to communicate so that you're not wasting each others time but it's seen as weird to just come right out and say it.

I want to get married but after a 7 year long distance relationship not sure really how to go about it. But I also think dating should be there to see if people are compatible. Also the depression isn't making things easier for me, I'm just tired of feeling alone.

Speaking from experience, when I asked an old female friend if she wanted to date and I was rejected we still stayed friends. I was cool with that, I enjoyed her company. Hell, if I didn't like hanging out with her then why did I ask her out in the first place, right? The part that pisses me off was TWO YEARS LATER when she changed her mind about me and asked _me_ out, but by then I had moved on. I didn't find someone else, I wasn't spending less time with her, I just got it in my head "we were friends" and I had completely checked out of dating her. Okay, so why does this piss me off? It wasn't so much that she changed her mind, that's perfectly fine, people can change their minds about whatever they want. The problem was that she never respected _I_ changed _my_ mind. She took my rejection of her *way harder* than I took her rejection of me. The part I really screwed up on was not taking that as a red flag and ending the friendship then and there. She never really got over it, and she ended up hooking up with a ton of guys which, in hindsight, I think she did in an attempt to get me jealous. Not only that, but looking back on a few instances, I think she may have sabotaged other women's attempts at approaching me, I don't have any concrete proof, it's just that some things stick out to me when I look back. Look, I'm not gonna tell you men and women can't be friends. If you want to still hang out after being rejected that's cool, but work on moving on, _be her friend._ And hey, if she decides she wants to give you a chance after all, and you're down, go for it. But if you move on, if you two become friends and she decides to shoot her shot but you reject her this time, cut her off. _She's_ the one that wanted to be friends and now she's flaking on her decision. Dude, run.

I've had the inverse happen to me as a dude and this way afterwards, sometimes you really vibe but not in that way. If you can honestly say you had a friendship with that person that kinda turned to lovw "accidentaly" I believe you can remain friends, but if your intentions were romantic from the get go and got rejected you probably are waiting for her to "change her mind" and thats not the friend she wants nor is it the girlfriend you want so you should both go seek that somewhere else

The advice I’ve always followed is in this situation temporarily completely distance yourself from the person and the relationship for like a month. It’s been shown that without contact to reinforce the feeling of attraction over time you will fall out of love with the person. Then come back with a fresh mind and new outlook on what the relationship will be

Aside from minor tax benefits the only reason to marry is to show love. Doing that after just a few months is just reckless considering the risks that come with no fault divorce. Actually spend time with each other and get to know one another. Marry someone who you know you want to spend eternity with.

It’s not a red flag that the person you’re dating is thinking about marriage. It is a red flag that the person you’ve been dating for 2 months is thinking about marrying you.

My only thought has been to rely on God in this case again. As a computer scientist who could probably survive by myself with occasional contact through work and family im not going to find anyone.

Two months seem too soon for marriage after dating.

At the end of the day, what matters is what both parts of the partnership want and feel comfortable doing. There is no right or wrong answer. I would say, however, that the only wrong answer is if you haven't been living together those 2 months. Because let me tell you that love is great, but it is never enough for a marriage to succeed. You also need to be compatible, and you will only find that once you start living together. But if you have been living together for 2 months and you both are like "this is cool, let's keep doing it" then that is not an issue. In the same way that it is not an issue to be partners for 10 years and never marry.

Why enter a friendship when your real intentions were elsewhere? It's hardly appropriate to be friends with someone with romantic/sexual intentions.

When you've met one person, you've met one person. Every person, and every couple, is going to have different values, goals, and sense of pacing. If you don't know what you want, you might want to start asking yourself what you want, especially if your potential partner knows what they want. Thinking about your future is not a red flag. Actual red flags include: jealousy, controlling personality, arrogance, narcissism, violent behavior, risk-taking behavior, and failure to respect you and your interests. Example, I once dated a girl in college who suddenly wanted me to change my major and go into law or medicine, so I would be guaranteed to earn a 6-figure salary and pay for the lifestyle she wanted, regardless of how I felt about those vocations - and if I didn't agree, she would end the relationship. That's a real red flag, because she did not respect my choices and she was taking the relationship hostage. She did not want me, she wanted the idea of me as something else.

Is hard for the guy to not have resentment for the girl who rejected him, so just dont go into the friendzone

My parents had a rapid relation ship, started dating around novemberd-december, febryary my mom proposes, may they get married, november I am born, now well over 30 years later, still together showing affection to each others... yeah they ruined my expectations by showing a lottery win result and made it loo klike normal.

So thanks to that, I'm both Canadian and Swedish citizen (Swedish through my mother and Canadian due to being born in Canada). "getting PM's from guys" I'm probably one of those that wouldn't ever initiate PM's, not that I don't mind finding friends but cause I would end up in state of overthinking and think I would be bothering someone. I'm a bit in the same situation, I wouldn't mind having a romantic partner but not actively looking for one right now.

The problem is that you still love her whils she doesn't love you. Which means it's near impossible to save friendship in this situation imo. Maybe when you over her or found someone else you can become friends again. But staying friends right after being rejected just can't work I think
