I love that Sho and Meghan’s acting choices told a different story than Kristin and Idina . Sho as Elphie exhibits a massive manic episode during DG and that was why Meghan as Glinda couldn’t join her. She was wayyy too crazed and manic and Meghan as Glinda just can’t trust anyone that unstable. Their Defying Gravity was not about control it was about trust. Meghan’s Glinda just couldn’t trust Sho’s Elphie 2 ever be happy working in the system. Meghan’s Glinda had to release her. Meghan’s Glinda knew that Elphaba had to be her enemy if they were ever going to affect change in Oz.

Her diction is so clear here wow. Also the battle cry at the end reminds me of the first half of Willemijn Verkaik’s battle cry in her final DG performance.

Shoshana, oh my! Her intonation is so perfect, always on point, I haven’t heard her sing flat or pitchy. What a singer

“If you want them, you can have them. I will leave them in your care.” Is the saddest version of this line in the history of the show in my opinion. It’s literally perfect. “Try to help them, try to fix them. I’ll just get out of your care.” Is amazing, but feels a little similar to the west end version where he still thinks he’s right and is just resigning because he loves Veronica (but that might just be me) “Stick around here. Make things better. Cause you beat me, fair and square.” Is good, and shows that JD has finally realised Veronica is right, but does kinda sound like a forced realisation because of the fact he’s dying anyway, and less of a natural one because of everything Veronica has said and done throughout the musical (but honestly, maybe that’s the intention) And finally “God knows why you wanna save them. But you beat me, fair and square.” Isn’t bad, but is definitely the worst rendition, since he’s basically saying he thinks his method is right, but is just letting Veronica have a chance to rebuild the high school society since he’s dying anyway, which I think goes against the time point of the song, the fact that JD is damaged, and always has been, and is now realising that (and that Veronica is right). But this line is just perfect because it’s so sad. He’s saying he trusts Veronica can let them see the good inside of them, and almost sounds like he’ll be here in spirit, even if not there physically. But what’d I know, I’m just a girl 🤷‍♀️
