Real Wasabi Verses Fake - The Blindfold Taste Test - Wasabi Growing, Harvest, Preparation & Storage
Paulo demonstrates the comparison between real Wasabi and fake shop bought paste. He stages a real Wasabi verses fake Wasabi taste test using his freshly harvested roots and paste.
He makes use of some of his freshly harvested Wasabi to explain the fundamentals of Wasabi preparation. He tells you what you need to do if you want to start growing Wasabi and how to harvest, prepare, eat and store your fresh Wasabi rhizomes.
For this video Paulo draws in the extra help of his wife for a Wasabi taste test to give viewers a visual comparison of taste reactions between the two.
Claire goes blind folded and has to taste both real and fake Wasabi describing the taste differences between the two.
Why not check out my video on how to grow Wasabi here: th-cam.com/video/ThVlWDUpFsc/w-d-xo.html
After the taste test they discover real Wasabi is completely different to shop bought which is actually more horse radish in flavour.

I'm interested in acquiring some. Would you / could you sell me some and ship to the US? Or, if you have any interest in trading for seeds of plants native to the Appalachian mountains of the US (I'm in USDA zone 6) I'd love to discuss that. If you can't sell any, can you all links to any individuals or nurseries that would sell/ship to the US?

Hi Paulo, could a lemon tree survive outside if covered in a fabric material over winter? My mother in law got a lemon tree, after bugging us for one for 2 weeks. After 1 day, she wanted to get a refund because it was too tall for in doors lol... I said I'll take it but I don't have space for indoors. I didn't want to do a refund

I grew radicchio in north Florida, planted in October like lettuce. They never bolted. They grew slowly until I had to remove them in late May to plant sweet potatoes. Other than being bitter as walnut shells, it was great. It was trouble free. If it got too cold or hot or dry it just slowed it's growth. I don't think a single leaf had a bug hole. That year Christmas eve night and Christmas night the temperature dropped to 20F (-6C). It had no frost damage. It was hitting 95F (30C) before I pulled it up. It never wilted.

I'm not giving up. I'm going reduce the dose for now and focus on growing my own plants. I think your tea idea with the lemon balm and mint might actually help reduce my upset stomach and maybe the headaches. I also noticed I had to urinate 3 times! I haven't heard of that as a side effect. Maybe because I did drink more water with it. hummm... I better get in my garden and start growing some herbs. hee hee Im going to check out the rest of your video and see what else you have to give advice about. Thank you, Kellie

thank you for making this video! I am always on the hunt for anything that will grow in extreme temperatures, and drought- even though I do not let drought happen- because I live in the Mojave Desert (I call it the Devil's arse). We are at 2500 above sea level, and temperatures are terribly high, with swings in degree like those of Mars. It can range by 60 degrees from day to night. The wind is a common problem here, as well. I find it so difficult to grow anything. I bought some Gobbo di Nizzia cardoon seeds, how do you think they will fair? I will start them inside, or possibly outside but in the early fall. Please, I am so desperate for a garden!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe cuttings of any/all plants used to fill gaps; if not required you could simply chop and drop them. Do you use cardboard to suppress weeds?
