In a perfect world I would love to see that. Unfortunately I think his stock has risen so much it’s unlikely he’ll still be around at 9, if Calgary wants him they may have to move up. Rooting for the Iginla 2.0 storyline though!

That’s a totally fair opinion. I guess it comes down to the fact we’re higher on Solberg than you are. He projects more as a top four D man than a bottom pair guy to me. St. Louis has lost a lot of size and grit on their blue line with guys like Pietrangelo, Edmundson, Bortuzzo, and now likely Scandella leaving. So I think he fills a need on the team and based on recent play I don’t think he’s a reach at 16 and may honestly go higher. Although we disagree, thanks for you comment and opinion!

Unfortunately I’m not overly high on Voit, I think he projects more as an AHLer long term. He had a good showing in the ECHL putting up 8 points in 5 games but lost the rest of his season to season-ending shoulder surgery. Hopefully he can come back strong next year with the Marlies and prove me wrong!

Could not agree more with you. Especially when you consider how well he could pair with more offensive guys like Drysdale or Bonk long-term.

Agreed! Actually got the chance to see Jarventie in person against Montreal in the preseason and he looked like a stud. Barring cap constraints I’m positive he would’ve started with the NHL squad this year. Thanks for the comment!!

To this point he has posted back-to-back 73 point seasons, before that he never broke 35 points. I think it’s more than fair to say he’s an emerging star at this point as this is a pivotal year for him to show he can consistently be the player he’s shown across the past two season and I’m sure he will. As for top sixes better than New Jersey, I would argue both Edmonton and Toronto have better top six forward groups. Certainly agree you guys are set up well and happy the team has been able to bounce back so impressively from the number of tough years Devils fans had to endure. ….except when it counted most. I’m *praying* that Vitek, can get out of his own head. As far as Schmid goes, I think we might be seeing our future #1 starter for the next decade. He needs a bit more seasoning, but he’s got the chops. I would still feel better with a more reliable goaltender. Having said that, I don’t believe that anyone expected Aiden Hill to backstop Vegas to the Stanley Cup. With the potency of Jersey’s offense, we not actually *need* elite netminding.

I would keep in mind they lost two great defensive defenceman this off-season in Severson and Graves. The Devils tandem will have to prove that they are in fact as good as they were last year. Regardless, goaltending is the only questions around this team, albeit not a massive one but certainly more significant than any concerns on offence or D. Thanks for you comment!

@@CTCHockey Very true. It was especially unfortunate, that Severson had to endure becoming the whipping boy for all of the Devils woes. The *truth* is, that he, on many nights, was their most reliable D-man. Not as easily replaced as some might imagine. Graves too, was an excellent defenseman who sadly had to go, in order to move their new kids into the ranks. Again, not easily replaced. Hughes in particular, needs to hone his defensive game.

I certainly hope so, Probert was on of the best to ever do it!

Agreed, Quick as a backup is terrifying which could lead to over reliance on Shesterkin. As for Laf, wouldn’t call his a bust yet, I don’t think he’s been utilized properly by New York to this point but I agree a change of scenery would probably be best. Doubt the Rangers want to trade him while his value is so low though. As for Fox, no comment 😂Thanks for you comment!

Fantastic insight. Agree on Pinto, think it ends up being between $2M and $2.3M. What's baffling is that PD took Kubalik back in the DeBrincat trade as his $2.5M cap hit plus their current space would cover Pinto and possibly Josh Bailey. I love the point on Greig too, I see him as a better fit in a bottom six than Pinto long term given his play style. Based on Pinto's production last year it would be great to see him in the top six in the near future. Totally agree moving Joseph is not worth a 1st or 2nd as he's a useful player. Starting to think if anyone gets moved for cap space it may be Brannstrom as you could actually get something (a 2nd or so) back for him and give JBD or someone else a shot in the top six. He is tearing it up, crazy to see what he’s doing in the KHL at such a young age. I believe he’s up to 10 points in 8 games which is ridiculous. Can’t wait to see him in the NHL.

I feel like based on what we’ve seen so far it’s fair of you to think Leo could become the better all-around player. I’ve been especially impressed by his skating. Personally, I do expect Fantilli to become a more electric offensive player. Only time will tell as to who will be better and it’ll be fun to watch! Thanks for the comment!

As a Leafs fan, we went through a similar phase in the mid 2010s when the team bottomed out. I have to say those years were some of my favourite as a hockey fan. Cheering for a rebuilding or even tanking team was a fun experience and really reveals who the teams true fans (like you) are. I hope for a similar experience for you and Sharks fans and hope your rebuild is a success! Thanks for your comment!

@@aqaz120 Thanks! Haha that’s a great point, never thought of that. I think Bedard is comparable to McDavid although I’m not sure Reichel is to Draisaitl but for the sake of Blackhawks fans I hope he is!
