1956 Bel Air Custom Radiator Installation (Be Cool OE Series Radiator)
มุมมอง 19911 หลายเดือนก่อน
With the amount of custom work done to this car, it was no surprise that installing a new radiator would be a challenge. After running this radiator for a while with no shroud, the car runs at about 210 degrees which is hotter than I'd like, but after doing some research that's not uncommon for a 350 Chevy. Overall, the Be Cool radiator is well built and looks great especially with the paint st...

I am having trouble getting it back on. Repaired rust like you did, put the window in, now trying to put the cover back on. Seems the lip for the froward bolt is interfereing with the mechanism. Maybe I have to slide it partway on? Any ideas? THanks for the video.
Hmmmmm maybe try it with the door shut first?
@@oldschooloverdrive1 Believe I did.. was distracted by fixing windsheild bead, now just put in the windshield with no prob!
Hey nice tutorial I’ve been researching bedcovers for while I like the Truxedo brand My neighbor has soft roll up about 4 years old he uses and abuses it daily and it holds up well But I’m liking this model Thank you
I had a soft top and loved it as well. I really only got the hardtop for theft concerns here in Houston so someone can’t just cut it open and steal tools.
@@oldschooloverdrive1 Yes this is a plus with hard rollup cover very nice
It says this only works for cars that originally already have CarPlay ? Isnt this just wasted space and not needed ….?
This allows for wireless CarPlay if your car has the wired version. Keeps you from having to get your phone out and plug it in every time you get into your car
What if you wanted to download another streaming app besides Netflix and TH-cam? Does this device give you access to android or Apple Store?
Not sure - all it does is make CarPlay wireless so if those apps aren’t compatible with CarPlay, then it wouldn’t.
Thank you for this! I got the running boards for $50 from a friend that took his off and he didn’t give me the bolts, so I didn’t know the size.
Happy to help!
Nice presentation it helps! 👍

My truck sits outside in the crazy Midwest heat. What’s your gut feel if this would hold up to the summer temps? It isn’t something I’d want to remember to take in/out of the truck.
Well I’m in Houston where it’s even hotter and haven’t had any problems. Worst case you can just re-tape it as needed
Is this hooked up through hotspot ?
@@chromedaddy282 wireless CarPlay connects through your phones wifi connection, not necessarily a hotspot
Midwest doesn’t have crazy heat
@jesusgonzalez6033 I’m from the Midwest and jt definitely can. It would get up past 100 at least a few times a year
what if my car doesn't have bluetooth and I use a bluetooth transmitter that connects to my phone for music? how will that work with the screen?
This is just a wireless adapter for cars that already have the wired version of carplay
@@oldschooloverdrive1so it won’t work for my vehicle? it’s a 2008 hyundai azera limited
@alemon2006 nope
@@oldschooloverdrive1 but it worked in your truck and it didn’t have carplay before that screen you made the video about
@alemon2006 right - but the new radio has CarPlay installed which is why the transmitter works. Your head unit just had to have CarPlay so if you’ve replaced yours with a radio that has CarPlay, the adapter will work
I don’t have any of those things 😆 Still enjoyed the video though.
How difficult would you rate this process for someone without experience? Great video, deserves more views.
I think it’s pretty easy and straight forward for small dents, but just be sure to really take your time. Constantly check after each pull and really try to identify high spots as you go
@@oldschooloverdrive1 Is there any risk to causing more damage than helping?
@JPTulo there’s really no good answer for that. there is always a risk for something going wrong and it also depends on the person doing it. For example, if you go to tap the low spots and get carried away, you could definitely make it worse and hard to fix. For the small quarter size dents, you could over pull the dent or your paint/clear coat could fail and you make the situation worse. Just be sure to do a lot of research on the process before trying.
@@oldschooloverdrive1 You answered that perfectly, as I kind of already suspected that was the answer. Thanks for not saying “go for it, it’ll be fine!” Everyone has different levels of abilities and understanding of materials. Thanks for the great content. 💪
@JPTulo of course hahaha! I went through the same thing and concerns so I get it. The thing that convinced me was that the car wasn’t perfect anyway and I was willing to deal with the consequences in order to learn. If it were a brand new car, I’d probably have some reservations lol
Very helpful, thank you
Is there like some sort of replacement for that piece? Lime a plastic one or something?
Not that I’ve seen. My plan is to put a leather cover on it so you’ll never know
@@oldschooloverdrive1 good idea... mine is completely ruined ... rust its beyond repair imo .. i might have to jist do that as well
How did it work with going through rain? Are you seeing a lot of water getting in at tailgate?
Yeah - the corners leak a little, but the majority of the bed stays dry. I just avoid putting anything that can’t get wet in the corners
😂😂😂😂
It was really this for me ”😭😭😭” haha
@@oldschooloverdrive1 I'm a mechanic I feel his pain
You know you’re in for a long road lol
Trippy
That’s an east way to break an easy out. Hand tools
Yup - you’re exactly right. These screws were tiny though so I wasn’t too worried. But you’re right, it just takes that one time to turn this 5 minute process into a full days headache
Just installed the same cover on my 24 Silverado. The rubber gasket on the tailgate end of the cover doesn't sit flush on the top of the tailgate and there's a little gap that will probably allo get in. Does yours sit flush with no gap?
Edit: Allow water to get in.
Are you talking about the rubber flap that is attached to the rolling part when you have the cover rolled out? If so, mine makes contact with the entire tailgate pretty much
Yes, mine doesn't sit flush on top of the tailgate. I'll have to double check to see if the side rails are a bit too high.
@moodondie that would be my first suggestion as well. Sounds like the rails are incorrectly mounted
Hello sometimes you need to get creative with some the extra left over sealant tape strips and place them in areas that look like they might be needed. I’ve picked up wider weather stripping tape to help with additional coverage in place of the ones they give you in kit. It works well and gives nice coverage & appearance
I have it ,Its the best tool you will ever had
Without a doubt! One of my best purchases

OK what's going on ? Is our youth really this stupid? I say yes, and this needs to be here to show our youth how to inflat a tire 😢
It’s called satire. Basically a joke that’s proving a solution to something that isn’t actually a problem
😂😂😂
And still pouring wrong. Turn the bottle around so it can breathe.
I did it this way to try to avoid the hole I put in the side lol. Kind of shot myself in the foot😂
Whats that red thing?
Not sure. It came with the car and I just leave it in 24/7
I was today years old...
Omg I’ve been doing it wrong my entire life😢.
There’s no better time to correct your mistakes than right now!
I have no idea what I just watched, is this what's known as being a troll or is he just a bit slow in the mental department ?
It’s called satire lol
I have been draining the old oil into the bottle then pouring it back into the engine.. I thought as long as it came out of a bottle it was new again.
That usually works, but you have to put soap in with it to clean the oil
Is that a Jeep na you was doing it write the first time
Yes sir! It’s my XJ. And both methods are functional. The second one is for the weekend warriors who are always looking for the east way out
Remember leftie loosie righty tighty
I pour it in the gas tank, I've used 3 gallons so far. It's nice not needing to change oil but it gets tedious. And the big bottle doesn't fit under the hood, so it slowly seeps from the cap all over the carpet in the trunk.
Bro I've been chewing into the bottle and sucking the oil out then spitting it into the engine, thank you so much
I feel ya! I used to use a drill press before the knife
Looks too difficult tbh.
Curious to hear your method. I know this may not be the perfect solution for everyone
Dude holy shit who would’ve known the cap came off this will speed up my oil changes ten fold!!!
Knowledge is power my friend🫡
Nice man, i like this a lot better than the pop up screen for a single din option.
For sure! I love that it sticks out away from the dash to give clearance over the AC controls. A ton of cars have all the comfort controls so close to the radio that you can’t upsize from a single DIN without major modifications. This was perfect since didn’t have to modify the original dash and didn’t have to sacrifice screen size
@@oldschooloverdrive1 exactly! I've been seriously considering deleting the vent below the AC controls in my xj so I can lower it and open up a spot big enough for a double din but this is much a cleaner install than whatever hack job I was gonna slap in there.
@MarkSouthy I was honestly going to do the same haha. I only use two settings on my ac so I never need to see it anyway, but can still easily reach it
Why put a cop emoji over Houston like anyone gonna come for you
It showed almost my exact location. I wasn’t worried about it, but I had a few Karen’s comment on my original video and got annoyed with it so I just covered it up lol
I have always wondered how well those would work. Nice honest review
Thank you! I think the nicest part is how long the drums last. I’ve learned over time that it will eat through filler a bit faster than the sander
Think what you will about mercury and asbestos, that shit worked amazingly well.
Absolutely! Still working 60 years later. Both products are great as long as you leave them alone
Wow you have really got that striped down. 👍
Just wait haha! Its almost a shell now
Looks pretty solid! I recently got a 72 and I’d take those floor pans any day >.< The mounting area under the driver’s seat and the floor on mine are wrecked from rust. We believe the Brake Fluid reservoir or one of the bottles the PO left was leaking (it sat for 28 yrs). Looking forward to your videos!
Awesome and nice ride! I was honestly shocked that mine hadn’t rusted from the brake fluid either. Seems like the perfect place for it to get trapped there under the seat
Sweet. I need to pull my dash out like this. I thought it was all one piece. I have subscribed to your channel. Look forward to future videos. Thank you
Awesome! Thank you!
Look forward to seeing what you do with your baywindow. I am restoring a 71 Riviera camper. I too am doing what I want and like with my build (maybe not so stock) I figure it’s my van so I can do what makes me happy. Solid start for your project from what I can see.
Awesome! I’m thinking this one will grow over time to a modern van with a vintage feel (Subaru engine, air ride, etc.). Whatcha got planned for yours so far?
@@oldschooloverdrive1 Currently I have a reconditioned dp 1600.I put together this summer. But I would like to install a 2.5 Subaru from a 2000 Legacy wagon I have for the harness and motor. The Riviera cabinets replacement with some homemade ones are my next project. Not stock but the original ones are wasted and I want to make room for a full size Z bed. The 3/4 bed is a bit small so I am going to weld /add to the frame to widen it. Installing new rear drum brakes today Jbugs order arrived this morning.

good project vehicle. I like how solid it is. I have a 71 Bay. it was worse on the outside than yours. it isn't finished but it is my daily driver. looking forward to watching the progress. good luck. cheers
I’ve just about got all the rust cut out, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to do where the weatherstripping goes around the rear door. It’s rotted pretty bad and in weird crevices. Did you run into that on yours?

According to Babvvo and Tebbvo laws, sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!
