Church Hurt. What’s your view of Church Hurt? How were you taught to view injuries that happen in God’s house? In my debut book, Church Girl, I seek to offer a compassionate and balanced view of the pain many of us carry. I pray we get healing for the hurt we’ve sustained and may we humbly take responsibility for the hurt we’ve caused. Heal Lord Jesus, from the pulpit to the back pew. Order Chu...

Thank you so much for this video, Dr. Sarita! It resonates deeply with me and helped me to make sense of why I struggle to have a “big ole cry” whenever. I am realizing that I am so used to holding emotional pain that it takes other forms of pain and reaching capacity for me to cry, pause or rest. Thankful to be under the care of a loving God who is gentle, kind and attuned. ❤ You and your family are in my prayers, thank you for sharing and teaching even in this season.

Amen, yes it does get better. I lost my husband suddenly after 32 years of a wonderful life together. Some days in could hardly breath and i couldn't pictre..couldn't see the other side of what i was going through. But God. Just like you said and He said, when you are weak..I am strong. I couldn't "feel" the walk... the journey out of the shadow, but i looked up and I was out. I did however watch Him be faithful. Brothers and sisters. .Dr Lyons, God will. ....

Amen, thanks for sharing, with such vulnerability as you walk through this time. Really made me think about how I can apply that wisdom in my circumstance. Although it's not grief, just being in a season that is unfamiliar, I have had moments I've felt like certain situations trigger an emotional response, and this made me think more about those moments. Thank you, may God continue to comfort you and the fam 🙏🏽

Thank you for this wonderful video on Grief. My heartfelt condolences in the loss of your mom. 🙏Lost our mom to complications of Parkinson’s December 15, 2019 and it’s still difficult. She was a wonderful mother with a very hard life, but definitely an example of God’s grace and compassion and wonderful laughter. God is good. I’ve been working on the grief issue for a while, and this was helpful. May God continue to comfort you.🙏💜

I completely understand where you find yourself in this hour. A few years ago we lost a couple of family members in a short period of time. Then my son died....... One more family member died. The grief was so overwhelming I could not go to another funeral and say, "goodbye" again! No capacity! None! I cried everyday. Tears to work and from work.......everyday. Over time, I cried on all week but maybe, Thursday. The following week I cried Wednesday through Friday until I found myself not crying during my commute to work. I leaned into the fact that, "I trust you LORD." Even now, tears are welling up in my eyes thinking of my son and the pain during that period. The pain is different now because I know EVERYTHING is purposeful! Many years later a friend of mine lost her child, she was not doing well. The Spirit was on me, "Go speak to her." I was finally able to speak to her weeks later after isolating herself from everyone. As we sat in her living room, GOD moved! He cleared the way for healing to begin and we cried, talked, and cried so more. Since then she has birthed 2 beautiful children.(Job) I believe GOD is showing you a deeper understanding of him that you might be of benefit to many others. Our GOD is Faithful and True. AMEN! Please excuse grammar mistakes I'm not a wordsmith. 😀

Great resource! I love the advice to slow down and pause, and the indicator of lack of presence when you're not sure how to reply to someone's update so you rush to something else - I have been guilty of that before. It's tricky being on the other side of this where you feel like sharing about yourself gets constantly mown over and misunderstood by others in your life who you want to have closer relationships with!

I like this because I’m about to have a serious sit down with my friend. She struggles with being consistent. We rekindled our relationship to give it another try. I think we started off good but she is going back into old patterns. I’m trying to be understanding with her and give her the grace when she forgets things and cancel. I also give her solutions as well to help with that. She’s cancel activities about 6 or 7 times in a row. She does work a lot so, alot of times she is tired. So, I give her time to reach out when she is ready and has the energy to hangout. However, when she does we agree to a plan but she is canceling. She rather talks on the phone, I held her accountable yesterday by telling her we were supposed to do something this week and she wasn’t following through. She tells me that she is trying to balance her life and trying to be consistent. She’s planning and not executing which defeats the whole purpose of planning. I feel like I’m doing alot more compromising and my needs aren’t being met. She tried to call me out for not compromising but I’m doing alot of it. When I told her I was and what my needs were she finally made a decision to hangout. We talked about the terms of the relationship and what we both needed. I told her giving her space and time is a way to set boundaries. She wants me to do more, however, she cannot give it herself. I’ve been moving at her pace. I stopped being friends with her the first time for similar reasons. She was expecting me to show up way more than she did. I want to be emotionally present but when does it become emotional manipulation? She believes she respects me and my time and she does not.
