As for the v shaped torso, if you look at marika/ radagon concept art while she shatters the elden ring, she kind of has a v shaped torso in that art

The most disturbing aspect about godwyns design for me is that hes bent backwards, so his chin is now the top of his head, his back is his front ect.

What about Sorcerer Rogier's dialogue that explicitly talks about this corpse? He says that he got infected by studying the corpse under stormveil, and warns us that if we want to follow Fia, we should take care to avoid infection if only to avoid the negative side effects I can't remember exactly where this dialogue happens but I know that I experienced it in-game myself and also saw it in Miss Chalice's lore video about Fia To me this feels like proof positive that the deathroot theory is true, even if there're still missing pieces of the puzzle also, just my 2 cents... the fact that the death status effect thorns look *exactly* like the stormveil thorns feels very, very suggestive The whole castle just let the death bar build up too much, it needed to roll out of the cloud

I've just realized something. Eyes are very important design elements of the demigods. His eyes are a depiction of an eclipse. And also bear similarity to the "hole" iconography of the Greater Will.

I think in the trailer where we see Godwyn's body "awaken" you can see that purple fluid leak from his eye when he opens it.

This is why there needs to be at least one more Elden Ring DLC. What's happening with Godwyn deserves to be explored fully, and with your discovery about what the "roots" are actually made of, it would be a great tie-in to the fly people from the SotET DLC.

I cant imagine marika gettin it on with someone random without a certain purpose in mind. That being said, I have a theory that the "seduction" spoken of in the DLC trailer might mean marika seducing hornsent nobility in order to not be made a jar saint. Perhaps she bore children with them and these children are the soulless demigods that are both illegitmate and unwanted because the were the product of her greatest enemies, the hornsent.

The lord of frenzied flame doesn't have a head either, so it could have some connections to that as well, and the lord of frenzied flame ending is locked in unless you use Miquela needle in the presence of a elden lord which I would like to know why that is but anyways I understand why the lord of frenzied flame ending would be locked in without the implications or connections too but it does also give a sense of canon ending too. Also ofnir the all-knowing guy literally says that a man can not kill a god and then we go and kill a god not to mention just about every mythos in mythology from greek to roman and norse to my knowledge only a god or demi god can stand a chance againt another of the likes, and our tarnished to my knowledge is the only one to seek out and attempt the life of a demigod aside from the now revealed festival that Miquela orchestrated so that radahn would finally die and he could snatch his soul to be reborn as his consort which further supports and doesnt support that statement in a way unless he was hoping that one of the tarnished to attend the festival that occurred again to my knowledge traditionally was a demi god lol

I firmly believe that ANYONE who witnessed Godwyns transformed state is kind of "obsessed" with him. Absolutely masterfull character design. It's a shame they didn't delve deeper into his story.

The more i know the more this story becomes one hell of an epic tragedy, where a person subjected to atrocities unbearable, decided to take revenge upon the race that enslaved her, the gods that have forsaken her, and the world that had imprisoned her. But the tragedy is more complex… that person is many, and many even though they are one, have wills of their own, and so the story of an unforgettable attempt at saying fuck you to everything unfolds with many twist and turns, from the Gloam-Eyed Queen’s subservience, to Marika and radagon’s betrayal against their other half, to a life of mischief between those two parts wavering in exacting vengeance on the gods themselves, with each child bearing witness and harboring part of those that are too great to reveal themselves, yet seldom wanting an empyrean vessel. And thus, with the creation of the shadow realm, the entrapment of the outer gods within that person’s offsprings as their vessel, now that person choose sacrifice, death and deliverance… A tragedy indeed, one forged in the solemn wish of the many to see vengeance fulfilled until death takes them out.

fromsoft translations do tend to assume masculine pronouns, an example of this is Maria’s grave in bloodborne, which confused a lot of people until the DLC came out

Man I love stormveil and godrick so much. I don’t care that godrick is a bit of a wuss lore wise. But just the whole vibe of him and stormveil is awesome.

The description of the Astrologer practically states they are of an order that pre-dates the Golden Order of Queen Marika. So, if we truly are a child of Marika, we probably pre-date all the other Demi-Gods. We are the first children. The children whom Marika had felt do not fit in with her new world order since they are all of "the old world" which she sought to leave behind for power. Our half-siblings have no sway on us, infamously Miquella, whom we know is a manipulative bastard with his use of Compassion. We're not becoming the third Consort of Marika, we're *overthrowing* Marika.

I'm personally of the opinion that Godwyn's face should be viewed "beak down", since that's how it is presented when we find it in Stormveil and the DLC catacombs. That would make a lot more sense than FromSoft deciding to consistently portray him upside-down. It also makes no sense to put his nose on his forehead. I don't know what that thing above his eyes is supposed to be exactly, but I don't think it's a mouth. It looks more like he's growing a third eye, which given that it's a Japanese game might have some symbolic meaning.

I think Fromsoft wants people to investigate their games using mods and put things in them for folks to discover using tools few of us know how to use.

I might be seeing things but the blighted wood texture looks like that it also has eyes carved into it, not fully formed by any means but the distinct shape of Godwyn’s eyes is very visible and repeated throughout it if you looked closely. I only noticed it in this video but I can’t unsee it, lots of small yet to form eyes. At 4:58 there is what looks to be one below and to the right side of the character model. Like it is so distinctly that specific shape repeated over and over again.

I’d say the reason why so many details were high out of view was just in case they wanted to put additional levels into the area. Easier to prepare for it as a precaution than sloppily adding it later.

There's one other place that seems heavily flower themed to me, though in a slightly different way. Jarburg. It's easy to see how Jarburg might be thematically connected to Shaman Village in other ways as well.

Coming back to this video in hindsight, I now wonder if you were spot on about the Black Knife connection, only in reverse and that Messmer's crusade was in retaliation for Godwyn's death. We know the crusade happened after this because Godwyn's growths and soldiers as well as the Dragon Cult are all present in the Land of Shadow. A big mystery for me is why the Horned culture coexisted so long with the Lands Between after Marika's ascension to godhood which seemed to entail its own initial massacre at Enir-Ilim. This is one possible answer, not without its holes, but there has to be some reason for Messmer's Crusade taking place so much later. It's very conspicuously strange.

Godwyn is one of the best characters in all of the FromSoft games in my opinion because he has so much mystery surrounding him and can probably be brought up again if there ever was a continuation of Elden Ring’s story. Just the mystery alone is enough to draw me to his character.

I always feel bad for malenia. She's just sitting there waiting for miquella and he's not even there. He just kind of abandoned her. He's following in marikas footsteps in the sense he's given away emotions and love(he literally cast them aside) and cares only for his god hood. Poor malenia. She's a tragic story. But God I hate her when I fight her. But I have more respect for her now.

So then other Tarnished are also Demigods and here children? Aren't every living being Marika's child? Because she is a God and we are all here children?? On the other hand, they all are tarnished (many of them) and they also call us a Tarnished. And in the almost end of the game the All Knowing says his last words that a human can't kill a God. So maybe they are all (Tarnisheds) are humans, but we are a Demigod, and nobody knew that, even we didn't know.

A personal head cannon of mine is that godwyn is in the process of becoming an outer god, We know that there are multiple outer gods, outer will, formless mother, gloam eyed queen, frenzied flame and the Fell (giants flame outergod) Which are all technically formless, Yet Transcendental beings that are able to create "vassals" such as the elden beast, fire giants, Melina, Shabriri etc etc, WHAT IF, The killing of godwyns soul was a catalyst and the prevalence of death root and basilisk type mutations, COULD BE a sign of a outer gods influence, whether a pre existing one I couldnt say, And the reason godwyns body not only mutated to such a massive degree but also connected to the roots of the erdtree was due to said outer god or godwyn himself possibly pulling a marika esc situation (Like how radagon is marika) and saving godwyns body to have a "perfect" vassal of sorts, No soul to mingle with the presence of said outer god, Which would also help to explain why his body was even able to mutate so severely, It was by all technical terms dead, Only kept alive do to the rune of death being stolen, Making it a perfect empty shell for a outer being to jump into, And just like with how the frenzied flame needs to ripen to become the lord of frenzy perhaps godwyns body must ripen in mutations and deathroot for that vassal to be ready for "lordship"

This is not a significant observation of great importance, hell it might not even be true at all, but I find that Godwyn's eyes, and the eyes growing all over the roots, specifically the iris for both cases, look very similar to the symbol that is visible on the Greatshields of the Mausoleum Knights

Hmmmm.....new perspective on marika....did she quarentine the lands between? I mean, between the growing threat of the deathroot, and the spread of madness...ive got alot of theories about how the 3 fingers were a birthed abomination from the mother of fingers, either before or after the nox attempted an assassination with the fingerslayer blade on her....3 fingers made their way to midra where it was chained in the same hall as his boss fight...evidence the 3 fingers were in that forest comes from the swollen grapes found there that are directly touched by the 3 fingers....my guess is that marika took the 3 fingers from midra with the help of the hornsent before the betrayal
