As a designer, Earl Young was enigmatic because he didn't use blueprints. As an artist, he created homes that fit the site, rather than forcing the landscape to accommodate the design. The swinging bridge is roughly 139 feet and spans over the black river. It connects both sides of Riverbend Park. It was built in 1905 at an original cost of $300. It provide workers at the Michigan Sugar Factory who lived on the other side of the river with an easier way to get to work. At one time, the bridge had signs at each end. When I was a kid all Columbus had was a grain elevator & a general store located on Rattle Run Road near the railroad tracks. The Columbus Baptist Church was on Palms Road.

Rented a cabin in Mio that turned out to be haunted. I would never go back there- super bad experience and literally have ptsd from it.

What happened?? I could see why places could easily be haunted up there. Think of all the thousands of people who died in the area over thousands of years. If a spirit finds a nice quiet cabin they enjoy, they could decide to hang out there and try to chase off anyone who wants to be in "THEIR" cabin

@@alanzemsky7695 You can go to St. Joseph you walk the break wall to the lighthouse then head north to South Haven Or Saugatuck. Saugatuck has Chain ferry that takes you across the Kalamazoo River over to Mount Baldhead which is pretty cool to see. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.

Oh man did that bring back memories... My grandma lived on the Black River in Croswell... I would have to sneak across the bridge as a kid... Because if my older brothers and cousins caught me crossing... They would try their hardest to bounce me right off, Lol 😊✌️
That’s a great memory. That bridge can still bounce you around pretty good. There’s always someone on it that likes to bounce on it and scare you.
