"El Warda Li Nahki Aliha," written by a Tunisian woman poet, became a timeless mezwed classic through Habib Chenkaoui's performance in the 90s. The song tells the story of a cherished love, symbolized by a rose, passed carelessly from hand to hand, capturing themes of loss and betrayal. Chenkaoui's emotive voice, alongside the raw traditional instrumentation, embodied the essence of mezwed, a genre that resonated with the working class for its authentic portrayal of love and heartache.
Chedly’s reimagined version of "El Warda Li Nahki Aliha" revitalizes this beloved Tunisian classic by transforming it into a modern electronic piece. While honoring the emotional depth of the original, Chedly adds atmospheric synths and electronic beats, creating a fresh, cinematic sound that bridges Tunisian tradition with contemporary global music. This reimagined track is part of his debut project, ''You Exist Through Me'', a tribute to his father, who passed away in 2021. After a decade of making music as CheLab, Chedly returns in 2024 with this unique album, featuring over 20 tracks that merge modern music with energetic rhythms and traditional folklore from the MENA region. Each track is accompanied by evocative visuals created by Viseria Studio, adding a visual depth to the musical journey. ''You Exist Through Me'' guides listeners through themes of loss, remembrance, and eternal connection, with "El Warda Li Nahki Aliha" standing out as a bridge between past and present.
