Thank you! I’d certainly pick the DN2 if I were you. It just can do so much more, especially polyphony. The Syntakt ist still nice for the analog tracks, but if you can cover that otherwise there is basically no point.

Thank you for listening and the kind words! I usually prepare the sounds to have a wide palette to choose from (several kicks, hats, perc, a bassline, 2-3 synths, noise/atmo) but the patterns are sequenced or played on the fly. So I don’t know where I end up in the end. I also change up the sounds as I go. During the set I felt that the kicks had too much boom and decay which drowned out the bassline, so I reduced decay to make them smaller or for example I add delay to the off beat open hats to create tension. I do have some sequences saved in the OXI as backup, though, if I somehow stumble, but I usually try to improvise and see where it goes. How do you do it? Quite similar I believe from the vids I watched yesterday.

​@@voidreflectionsmusic Our approach is quite similar indeed. OXI is the heart of the operation. 3 mono tracks and 1 multi. The Analog 4 is 1. bassline, 2 a DFAM oriented patch with performance knobs setup, 3 lead/utility, 4 pad going through Source Audio Collider and then back in to the A4 to do some side chain mimicking with the lfo to keep it clean and full of energy. Using kits to prepare sounds. Rytm is doing al the drums. Don't sequence the drums from OXI, because I like the Elektron sequencer for that. Lots of parameter locks, different kinds of shuffley hats ands shakers, and usual suspects. Di Digitakt is doing some special stuff like LFO on sample position for groovy percussion combined with the werp function. Some dark vocal stabs and a vocal line prepared. Really works well to jam without any prep and always find happy accidents without getting into chaos. Works well with the onboard fx. Finally the rack. That is a work in progress. At this moment its 2-3 voices: 1 Incus Iteritas through a filter --> dual FX (erica) and FX aid. 2: Swarm --> Electus Versio and 3: Moog Labyrinth also going through the Electus Versio. Als the FX tails have side chain effect on the dry/wet. Some things are prepared, but sequences at minimum. Drums are a bit more prepared, because that's the basic bread and butter that is more or less the same every time. Using different sounds of course.

For me it is right now: Digitone: FM Kicks, some simple synth lines Syntakt: Hats & Percussion, classic sounding kicks Modular: Synth voices (modulargrid in linktr.ee/voidreflections) But it is changing a lot, since I'm still learning the DN2. Only thing that is fixed is that I won't do drums anymore in modular. I've tried with the LXR and Queen of Pentacles and have to say I need a full drum machine tbh. Sold both modules again. I 100% agree on Elektron sequencer being best with drums and OXI for melodic stuff.

Thank you! And I agree. In that case the Digitone 2 is probably the better choice because polyphony is often hard to do in Modular and FM is also quite rare. I got the Digitone mainly to complement my modular for ambient jams, because I wanted polyphony for nice huge pads and the FM sound palette. The Syntakt is great if you want to drum machine or some mono synths.
