Character really does matter. But that's often not the case secularly (even in the church when decision makers are not walking in the Spirit). So secularly, it becomes a matter of supply and demand. When the demand and desire (for a certain talent) are high and the supply is low, good character goes out the window. But that approach pretty much always comes back to bite.

I agree with you and when I was asked to direct the Youth Choir by pastor Marvin Cherry at Hightown Church of God, I was living the life pleasing to God. I was not sexually active with anyone and I was praying and communicating with God and reading my Bible at home living in Landmark Apartments. That pastor told me that the Holyghost told him to choose me then he chose his sister Tisha to assist me but I don't believe that the Holyghost told him to ask her to assist me. I had evening shift work schedule so I turned it down the first time. I GAVE UP THE CHOIR DIRECTOR POSITION BECAUSE THE YOUTH BEHAVE LIKE THEY WANTED TISHA AND THEY DIDN'T RESPECT ME. I WAS GODLY AND NICE TOWARDS THEM. I also didn't believe that I needed to be the choir director because I didn't take the training to become one. I was enthusiastic about directing them. There was a problem with some of the Youth favoring their own family named Latisha Cherry Hamblett to direct them who doesn't have the gift to sing at all.
Hello! I am so sorry that you experienced that. Sometimes that happens. Those are the trials of being a leader. The next time an opportunity comes, pray immediately and ask the Holy Ghost for guidance. In leadership you are going to have situations like this and God will prove to everyone that He has chosen you. It sounds like you have the gift but need to be trained on the people management side which is just as important as the talent. Praying that the Lord gives you the strength to understand the assignment and execute it with Holy Ghost boldness!!💯💯. Thank you so much for your comment and God bless you the more!🙏🏽🙂

Hi . I know that God has called me to direct . My shyness does gets into my way . I don't have much music skills and I want God to fill in where I lack . How do I build up my confidence according to the Bible ?
@@jerrynelson6308 Thanks for your comment. The Holy Ghost will give you the boldness. Part of your shyness is your unfamiliarity with music. Directing is not about movements per se, but it is about giving clear directions. 1. You can start by knowing the song(s) you wish to direct (know every word, the format of the song). Doing this will add to your confidence supported by prayer. 2. Develop a way of communicating the direction you want the choir to go. The simpler the better. 3. Remember this is not about you it’s about giving glory to God. 🙂 Through prayer your skillset will grow. Exercise patience as God develops you. It’s more to it but the points above will get you started. Hope this helps!🙂

i teach a choir in our community that is only over 55+. We appear normal, but ... lol. My group is 70 & 80's and a few younger. Our songs are so old, and just old. I came. The directors had to have help getting to the front. I admire them, but we were losing members and audience. After the 1st program - standing ovation & talked about for weeks. We MUST know our audience, as 60 yr olds are bored, because the 80 yr olds are dying. I'm not morbid, but realistic. I love your validation & you have been helpful.

Hi there! Everyone should be following YOU! 💯💯. the musicians should tell you anything unless you are lost(sometimes I do but 95% of the time I am not). sound like you need to change the song a little bit so they will have to pay attention. if you are predictable, they won’t follow. I hope that helps!

What is a surplis?
A surplice is a religious garment that you put over a robe or regular clothing. A good example is if you look up the garment of Altar boys it would be the white overlay.🙂
