Sharks of Jupiter

There is a misconception that sharks are mindless, aggressive, hunters. This is just not the case. They are amazing animals with brilliant senses and kind and gentle personalities.

Rollin' in the Deep: Kennedy dives the Titan

In this short video Kennedy accomished a few firsts. 1. She executed her first back roll. 2. She spent six minutes all alone on the wreck. She descended to the bottom on her own and waited for us to join. And 3. She handled a fins off ladder all by herself. The German Submarine U-352 along with 12 other U-boats was ordered to converge on the east coast of the United States and target all ships and convoys they encountered. On April 7, 1942, the U-352 headed for the mid-Atlantic. On May 5th, she arrived off the coast of Cape Hatteras. On May 9th the U-352 engaged with a ship that would be her demise the USCG Icarus.

I served aboard USS Aeolus ARC-3 as a Corpsman from March 1970 until my Honorable Discharge in August of 1972.. She took us to the Atlantic, the North Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, the Bering Straight, the Pacific, to the Western Pacific, Pearl Harbor, up & down both the East & West Coasts of the USA.. Thankyou for adding Disturbed's cover of "The Sound of Silence". Very moving. 45 years ago in August 1974, I came aboard the Yukon along with a contingent of Army, Air and Sea Cadets (aged 13 through 17 years old) from the Yukon and Northwest Territories to join a change of command cruise (Halifax, N.S. to Esquimalt, B.C. with stops in Freeport, Nassau, Colon, Panama City, Mazatlan and San Diego). I celebrated my 17th birthday south of Jamaica heading for Colon. It was a memorable summer vacation. Although I was only aboard for about 5 weeks that summer, I have felt a great attachment to her that hasn't diminished over the years. Growing up in Inuvik, NT (when the Canadian Forces had a Navy post there) allowed me to meet several Navy personnel who had served at one time or another aboard the Yukon. As a teen, it gave me a thrill to be addressed as "shipmate" by real sailors. Although we cadets were not trained for sea duty, the crew treated us well and we were assigned rotating shifts in all of the various divisions (except duty in the communications and radar/sonar areas... no security clearance for teenagers). My Action Station was below the forward turret (3" 70 guns) by the shell hoist. Thanks for posting this video.
