    Excellent video and very well explained, Julian! Do you or anyone reading this thread have an idea of how to attach this to the Fishpond Switchback 2.0 Wading Belt System? Thank YOU!

    • @julianemond5028
      @julianemond5028 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the warm shout out Ron! After checking out the Switchback 2.0 system, I am not seeing the two large, plastic square fittings that are used to insert the Quikshot system. I believe that the Quikshot is designed to integrate with their sling packs and backpacks from their their submersible series. Although, there are other items on the market, like the O'Pros third hand rod holder that can attach to any wading belt. I hope you found this helpful!

    Hey Julian, I am just starting fly fishing and found some of your review very helpful. I actually just picked up this net myself (can't go wrong with fishpond). I would love to see some on the water use, also i think it would be great to do some comparison videos or even tutorial videos so you could reach a larger audience. Beautiful dog and happy fishing!

    Hey. I love fishing exactly like you. Dry’s up and streamers down. How does the extra rod ride? Does it interfere with normal casting? I know you have been using the sling with the makeshift rod holder way and now with the quick shot. Cheers. Thanks for the video!!

    • @julianemond5028
      @julianemond5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Benjamin - thanks for the question! In my video I made the suggestion of breaking down your streamer, or dry fly setup into two sections (if you have a four piece rod). That way, when its sitting in the sling, its nice and compact and doesn't interfere with your cast. Additionally, its good to point out that this sling pack system only allows for the Quikshot to be on the right side of your back, meaning that if you are a right-handed caster you must be weary of your forward cast hitting your broken-down rod. I hope this was helpful! #tightlines

    • @benjaminleehoward
      @benjaminleehoward 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julianemond5028 Yeah That is helpful. Would you do anything different? Do you love the sling enough or would you try something else that had the rod ride better? Like the backpack?

    • @julianemond5028
      @julianemond5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminleehoward I have a Patagonia fishing backpack and the straps that come with them I have used to make a makeshift rod holder, but I would highly recommend the Quikshot + sling combo. It's the most secure way to wear a waterproof pack & hold an extra rod with. It's super easy to grab from behind the back to because of their quick strapping system. The new Quikshot model is designed to be even more secure and easy to unhinge your extra fly rod from the sling pack. Finally, you could buy the FP backpack and it does come with those hinges designed for the Quikshot. Either way, the Quikshot holder is a great solution to carrying an extra rod without having to put the other one down on the rocks/bank every time you start fishing.

      Hey there Nick! Sorry for my late reply.. I use the Fishpond Nomad mid-length net for every occasion. Trout, carp, pike, you name it! It has a really deep basket to help keep the fish in the water while handling them. Hope this helps!

  • @janhakonskaar500
    @janhakonskaar500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Considering this sling pack (but can`t test it before I buy since no local store has it)... so, I`m wondering how it is to add an extra rod to this sling pack while you are fishing?

    • @julianemond5028
      @julianemond5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding the FishPond Quickshot rod holder to your sling pack is very easy. I usually break down my four-piece rod into two sections and keep the flyline/leader attached, so that the two pieces are still secure. Once I have my extra rod broken down, I just attach it to the rod holster and thats it! Fishing with the extra rod on your sling pack is not very noticeable and it is designed for you not to get hooked up while you are casting. I have never caught the extra rod as I make my forward cast. I highly recommend if you are the type of person to bring two rods with you out fishing! Hope this was helpful to you Jan!

    • @janhakonskaar500
      @janhakonskaar500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julianemond5028 thanks.... So you think it will work ok to jeep the full length and still avoid to hook the fly/flyline to the extra rod? Works fine with a normal backpack, but a bit unsure with the sling since they are "laying" a bit (if you understand what I mean). Brgds Jan from Norway

    • @julianemond5028
      @julianemond5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@janhakonskaar500 with a typical trout rod it’s about 9 feet in length. I would definitely suggest breaking down the rod into two pieces so that it’s more compact. I have never suspended the full length of my fly rod with the quick shot rod holder. If it works for you though, I wouldn’t see any issues with it! Keep in mind catching that 9ft rod on trees, branches and shrubs as you’re walking through the woods. Hopes this help! Let me know if you have any more questions Jan! Happy fishing!
