AudreLorde - Reading at Amerika Haus Berlin 1984
มุมมอง 4.8K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Audre Lorde came to Berlin as a guest professor at the John-F.-Kennedy Institute at the Free University of Berlin in 1984. That year she gave a reading at the annual conference of the German Association of North-American Studies which took place at the Amerika Haus. We recorded this reading spontaneously and decided in 2019 to publish it with the English text and the German subtitles. Unfortuna...
Audre Lorde - The complete last reading in Berlin
มุมมอง 14K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Audre Lorde’s last reading took place in September 1992, two months before her death, in the apartment of Dagmar Schultz and Ika Hügel-Marshall. A few friends and colleagues from Orlanda publishing house were present. Audre dedicated the reading to the women in Soweto, South Africa with whom she was closely connected. We sent them a video tape of the reading.

A treasure beyond words
Incredible ❤
I love her so much. She is a precious jewel, a resplendent soul, a courageous heart , a vision of profound beauty. I wish I could have met her in person. She left this world a better place.
I love her with all my heart. I wish I could have met her in person.
She may have been ill here
May she rest in power! ♥️ One of my fav. writers and thinkers!
Thank you for posting ❤️
Oh I'm smitten! Just beautiful and full of love 🌅
This is the way poetry should be spoken. Not trying to augment the power of the words through some sort of inauthentic histrionics. I love this woman. Any man who thinks she is only speaking to women or women of color, although she is doing that, is devoid of a certain kind of humanity that might help to make him more human. She speaks to and for the best part of who we are because she does the hardest thing that anybody can do, and that is: Being honest with yourself.
God bless you and your spirit Audre! You will forever have your voice in mine!
Mirror A poem by Staci C. Washington 3/18/22 There is a day That face At the Window Darkened Him By reflection unknown. Yet likened to Sunlight On cardboard an Eclipse Of nature's Harkening It bleaches and beseeches. An atomated heart So New Pounding at Burnt roots of the Soul african. So I sang that song Fantastic As I walked Into the gas glass shelf Of flatulence And fame. I will not die for you You cannot die for me I am It does seem hat picture of you Foriegn.
WOW!!!!
Was this video taken in St.Croix? I wish I met Audre & Gloria:)
Wow Ubuntu!
I regret that these people were within my reach before they died and I had never heard of them. I recently read one of Lorde's poems and decided to research her. That's how I chanced upon Gloria Joseph living in St. Croix with me. See how I missed out on meeting these 2 great women.
Wow. She was a force of nature.
Today I’ve discovered Audre Lorde. This is awesome. Thank you universe 🙏. RIP Audre ❤️
RECUERDAME
RECUERDAME
Without Audre, as a trans person, I do not believe there would be so much space left for me in Berlin. I escaped the midwest to survive here and she made it possible, an intersectional pioneer. Through tears, I wish she was through some miracle still with us. May Ayim too.
LA MUJER YA ENCONTRÓ LA IGUALDAD. AHORA LE HACE FALTA ES CREER QUE LO LOGRÓ Y ARRIESGASRSE A LA COMPETITIVADA HUMANA, EN EL TRABAJO, EN ELHOGAR, EN LOS PUESTOS DE MANDO.
wow! this is awesome. glad I found it. i start my Women and Politics class reading audre lorde poems. now they can hear them in her own voice.
that's great~!
In her voice, she is still heard. Violence and meditation in one place
Thank you for sharing!

Nothing has changed, July 6, 2020. They are as racist as they were during the third reich.
Is this available for sale?
thank you bless you Audre
why is it deleted? this seems to be very important to include!
She needs a glass of water
the cancer she fought for 14 years did this to her voice.
You can feel the beauty love and friendship when she spoke about Audre and her crafting.
Fraud!
You’re a weirdo
Audrey Lorde and her sorry ass bulldagger lover Gloria Joseph were total frauds! They ran around the world screaming racism and sexism and lived like kings! They were elites (Did you know they would have 2 Xmas parties one for their rich white friends and another for the black Crucians? Did you know they wouldn’t allow their “workers” in the house for a drink of water preferring they stay outside? Audre was as power hunger as they come hiding behind some fake victimology to pray upon a bunch of misfit women that no man wants! You are a sucker and a weirdo!
A REAL LIFE MAGICAL 🧝🏾♂️ MOTHER, HEALER & GOD. ❤️
A GREAT REAL LIFE MOTHER, LORD, HEALER, TEACHER & LOVER. I HOPE you are resting in Power ⛮ Mama Audre 💜😢💜

2:16 Listening in that fine space....the grave stillness before choice.
Thank you for sharing this... ❤️🙌🏾❤️🙌🏾 love her work!
She was the only black female poet mentioned, albeit haltingly, by my poetry professor in college, 1976. Audrey was lesbian, activist, would not be silenced. I never forgot the name and as soon as I could obtain a copy of Black Unicorn I knew I could not remain in the town of my first 25 years. This, my token of appreciation to her, decades later. The Healing Sorrow I own a pewter goblet purchased in Rome when I was seventeen. It sits behind a book dedicated to friends who have moved on. In secret I use it, my despair fills to the edge then runs down the sides as I remember those lost to me who I loved. I understand the mechanism, the release of hormones the neurology of hurt and of repair. Still, I am that "Black Unicorn" Audrey has my number, for those of us like me the ocean is a receptacle, electrolytes trying to reestablish stasis. c. James C. Allen, FIPF
Oh, those are such beautiful works of art. And so much detail and attention to each shell or stone. Quite amazing. I'm surprised that woman like Audre who did so much writing, speaking, traveling, etc. found the time to create them. I know she said it was good for her to take that time, though and I'm glad to find this bit of film about her creations. Thank you.
