The 5 Launch Monitor Metrics That Will Change Your Golf Game
In this video, I break down the 5 most important launch monitor data points that every golfer needs to know for better ball striking, consistency, and smarter practice sessions. Whether you’re using a TrackMan, PRGR, or another launch monitor, these key metrics-impact location, low point, face angle, club path, and angle of attack-are crucial to understanding what your swing is doing and how to improve it.
Many golfers get caught up in focusing on a single stat, like club path, without first understanding the foundation of their swing data. But if you really want to make progress and hit more consistent shots, you need to focus on the data in the correct order:
1. Impact Location - Where are you striking the clubface? This affects ball flight, spin, and distance.
2. Low Point - Where is your swing arc bottoming out? For solid iron shots, the low point should be in front of the ball, not behind it.
3. Face Angle - Is your clubface open, square, or closed at impact? Face angle dictates the starting direction of your shot.
4. Club Path - This shows whether your swing is moving in-to-out or out-to-in at impact, which influences shot shape.
5. Angle of Attack - Are you hitting up or down on the ball? With irons, you want to hit down; with your driver, you want to hit up.
By understanding and prioritizing these five numbers, you can make targeted improvements to your swing and avoid wasting time on the wrong changes. I’ll walk you through how these data points interact, common mistakes golfers make when interpreting them, and how you can apply this information in your next practice session.
Whether you’re trying to stop slicing, improve ball compression, or gain more distance off the tee, mastering these key metrics will help you achieve more consistent and predictable results.

Want more Speed in your Golf Swing? Make this one change! #golflesson
Whats so common is our propensity to swing harder and tense up more on the swing that we strike the ball compared to the warmup swing. Imo, those should be reversed. Reversed so that we can dial down for proper mechanical stability. Dialing up always gets us into trouble as learners.
Nice, really easy to follow
If you just keep the club head on plane throughout the swing, you will have no problems. None, zero
Perfected the technique of almost falling over when you slice a ball
WIDE LOL
I am not a PGA pro, but I think this approach makes all the sense in the world. I do wonder how many Club GMs would support it if members complain that they can't get a lesson with you or Dr. Jones was shanking on Thursday and you told him you couldn't help. I'll be interested to see how it works out at your club. PS. I think that if you explain to the members how you are operating and why you are doing it most would understand. As you said, you have to put on your business hat. If you can afford to join a club you probably wear a business hat too and operate in a similar matter.
great information
Glad it was helpful!
Well explained and thank you. Different products can be confusing to Trackman. Be careful.
Thanks for the comment!
Great instruction
that is a perfect movement
I want my money back
I can understand the low point... But I probably missed what one needs to do to actually stile the ball 4 inch ahead... It lateral move.. Rotation slide....
This dude is a tool. Very confusing.
Did anyone get anything from this video 😂
Ya I understand - you’re going left waaay earlier than you think, after early right load on takeaway.. that’s 100% correct and IS “ a magic move- no good golf swing without this concept bar none! Early - early! That’s perfect! DO NOT DO THE LOAD-LOAD-LOAD-etc thing to the right. ! That’s what Not to do.. The demonstration or explanation is unnecessarily..pretty confounding Though to many … but the concept is a Gift 🎁 to any aspiring eager-to-learn golfer. IF YOU DONT GET THIS EARLY-eaRLY CONCEPT ? YOU WILL SUCK AT GOLF PERIOD . Early right for takeaway- early quicker than you-think to left “as” you are finishing your backswing. It’s like a Magic move feeling when you get this you’ll know it your swing will feel smooth and powerful
Which way is the right way?
I have no idea what you're saying is correct in this video.
maybe... explain in english?
29 missed calls from Colin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama
Ok so what's the tip
I disagree this would result in a very snatchy downswing ie rushing transition.
This is so helpful! Thank you for this
What.
There's no separation between upper and lower here
He's explaining a magic move. That's why most of you don't understand it😂😂😂 You have to keep the Slack out of the movement by leading with the body.
What?
Good drill. Getting a strap to practice this. My shoulder turn is pathetic for a 72 year old. Results in fat, inconsistent shots
You got to do a better job. I know what you are saying because im working on this, but it’s confusing
Role role role role
But doesn't Hydeki Matsuyama load slowly?
this tip sucks. be more clear.
Bad demo, not clear at all what you want us to do?
Confusing as heaven
what are you talking about
How is he getting forward. Push off back foot? Or how?
So which one is right? The long load time, or the quick load time? I tend to load slow then step on the gas quickly.
The second. My coach has been training me on getting back left sooner
Its all relative. Whatever helps you sequence better is what matters backswing is practically irrelevant. Look at the tour and nobody has the same backswing but they all impact the ball near the same
@@Nipitinthebuds good point. I'm kinda stuck around a 4 handicap. I've been between 3-6 for two years. Can't get over the hump. I can break 80 almost every time but can't seem to get to par. I think it's a distance thing for me. If I move up to the white tees I can get to par. I seem to always have 150+ into par 4's and par a lot of holes. Very rarely double bogey. Looking to see if I can add 15yds of distance off the tee to set up more scoring opportunities.
What a bs 😅😅😅
Find a different way to make your point 🤔
Great video , will try and implement
THanks so much for the comment Danny!
So what are you trying to demonstrate?
I am so confused which is the right way to do!
Timing of weight distribution, it is pretty complicated to understand if you don’t completely understand in the first place
Read my mind….what the hell is the point, dude??
Weight shift
What I understand is : Rush you're backswing and swing like he'll because we don't have much time. Il try that . Thanks
The feet is very unimportant. I can hit off my knees, off my right leg or my left leg.
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!
This was a good demonstration for weight shift for the ppl who don't know anything and are quick to transition to hit the ball.
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for helping the rest of the world who don’t know anything to play scratch golf like you. We appreciate it
Maybe work on a couple of videos before you start posting golf tips and drills
Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it
Honestly bro just nasty and no need
The moving the mat drill doesn’t make sense. What does that mean exactly?
Great tips I'm sure this will improve my contact. I don't believe I was making the shift and then rotate,
Thanks for the comment!
I have had a Rapsodo MLM for a couple years. I have had HUGE PROBLEMS with the "syncing" of the shots taking up to 16 hours (which means I can't access my data or review my shots until the next day). I have tried multiple times to get resolution from the company and they ask me over and over to "send a screen shot" and later they tell me everything looks fine. And this is with my "Premium" membership! I feel like I have been ripped off. I am switching to the MEVO+ and can't wait to dump my MLM.
What you think about the knew Garmin R-50. Thank You
Thats for the comment, I have not used it yet so at this time I don't have an opinion
Very timely video! I recently had a shoulder injury that I believe was caused by trying to get club to parralel in backswing. Know your limitations in terms of what your upper body and lower body can do from a rotation perspective.
Thanks for the comment. I am sorry to hear about the injury, hopefully nothing major
Thanks Ryan. Shoulder issue all better now. Just needed to take a week off
Can you hit into a net and get accurate display on an ipad of the course?
Yes you can, it comes with Golf balls that do a great job picking up spin. The graphics on the ipad are quite good as well!
@@ryanrobillardgolf Thanks! Also, love your advice. Looking at an 8' x 10.5 screen for projecting the image. What do you think about that size? Also, do you have a preferred video projector?
