Anybody here remember the Eatontown roller rink? Everytime I think of when I went to Monmouth mall as a kid I would remember passing the rink as well. Place was insanely packed on Friday nights

Good video. I often take pictures when I'm at my local mall because there's about two stores in it now. I think maybe three. And it used to be the place to be. Actually, two malls where I live are pretty much dead. Amazon and Walmart and strip malls killed the actual mall, but now I think it's funny that strip malls are starting to close and malls are starting to kind of come back in fashion. It's all cyclical. Just like when people start using Netflix Redbox and streaming and it killed Mom and Pop video stores..... Now streaming is dying at a rapid rate and VHS is coming back. DVDs are still out selling blu-rays..... Records are back. It's crazy

Wow talk about a memory unlocked. Used to stop at this exact BK on my drives between NJ and TN. Too bad to see it closed. I think I last stopped there in 2019 or 20.

I remember when the ONLY things in Eastgate were the mall, Showcase Cinema, and the Holiday Inn. Then Biggs was built (Jungle Jims now) and that started the boom.

I use to visit this mall weekly, while growing up in the Fingerlakes of NY. I was there about a year ago and about 75!% of the stores are vacant. I loved to go and always ran into people I knew.

It’s actually funny how they moved, Considering that their newer restaurants still look like that and it has double drive-thru’s. But i guess they don’t want each location to be unique, Don’t they?

That’s sad! It’s not unlike the themed BK in Frederick MD that you checked out a while back. I actually visited that one in 2021 when it was still in business.

My father owns a restoration company that did clean up work for the fire. Carry's Luggage was one of the stores he did work for and unfortunately they went bankrupt after and could not pay the bill. So we were asked to come in and shop for whatever we wanted till the bill was paid. I still have a cool swiss army knife that I picked out from there to this day.

Sucks. Shit keeps closing down in Chestertown. If they wanna keep the college kids and residents afloat they need to have a better economy for this

The only mall that hasn’t went too downhill is Kenwood Mall. Everywhere else it is a ghost town. I remember in the early 2000’s going to a different mall every weekend and it being crowded. It sucks to see but that’s the way it is now. ❤ great video!

The Regal Cinemas lobby is former mall corridor complete with the old mall lights. However, those lights are very dim, inefficient, probably hard to find bulbs for, and should be replaced with recessed LED lighting IMO.

My family moved to the area in 1968, I remember the grass airfield before the mall was built. I joined the Air Force in 1977, in those days the mall was always packed, at Christmas time just finding a parking place was a challenge.

I remember years back when this mall had the auntie Anne’s and the chickfilla and it was so fun.😢

I remember when this area as one big corn field. Now if the mall is dismantled, will they return it to being a cornfield again?

Anyone else remember the stores in the early to mid 70s? Chess King, Kinney Shoes, Florsheim shoes, Spencer Gifts.. but what was the shop called kind of across from Chess King that sold model trains, model rockets, stuff like that? My dad loved that store. I kind of think either they were mostly a book store or that space later became a book store.

I have been here a handful of times. Definitely was very boring in my opinion. It was never thriving when I went. Just my experience though. My go to was always Florence KY mall over any of the surrounding.

One of my friends was the manager of the electronics boutique when the mall first ed, then worked at the electronics store that was to the right of the video of Boscov’s that you showed. our other friend, ran the arcade that was upstairs in the food court at the time. So many great memories there. This video brought many of them back, so thank you.
