Branding resin castings
Have you ever been curious about branding your epoxy resin castings?
When you’re wanting to personalize your resin castings with your name or logo, Many people just use stickers or a tiny logo inclusion of some type, but someone specifically wanted to see how imprinting a resin casting with the branding iron might work. 🧐
I have used a branding iron on the back of wall artwork, charcuterie servers & various creations on wood substrates, for many years years. So when Someone asked if a branding iron could be used on resin castings, I decided to experiment with it on a few of my resin cast pieces. I had ordered two sizes of branding tips, when I ordered my branding iron, but had not used the smaller one out before this.
In this quick video clip I show my first attempts of using a branding iron on resin castings. Some worked great & some didn’t, but once you get the hang of it (with practice), it can be an option for some casting pieces, but not ideal for all (especially not for clear floral castings).
For those who were curious to see, here are my trials of how it works (& where it doesn’t too 😂).
In my case, I don’t think I’ll use it on resin castings. I’ll just continue to use it as I previously had.
Once imprinting your logo or name with the iron can be done successfully, a person could also add metallic colour to the imprint, and resin over it, if that look is desired as well.
A fee other options to consider looking into adding your brand (logo & or name), to your resin pieces are:
- Many artists use customized metal (or metal look) transfer stickers to attach or embed to their pieces.
- You can try using embossing powder (Get an embossing pad, a stamp and some embossing powder, heat gun). You may want to clear coat after. I’ve not tried this yet.
- A hot foiling stamp can work (similar to a branding iron).
- You can print your logo on acetate, and seal it in project on the back or bottom depending on the project.
- Or you can get a stencil made of your logo, & you you can fill in with an acrylic or oil paint marker.
If you have other ideas for adding your logo or artists name onto resin castings, please share in comments below for others who may be searching for ideas.

NOTE when working with epoxy resins:
Although most epoxy resins we are using in resin art today, are labelled no VOC, & FDA compliant, please always refer to specific manufacturers SDS sheets for any and all safety information related to PPE (personal protection equipment). Regardless of brand, SDS sheets all suggest to use resins in well ventilated areas (&/or use a respirator with organic vapour cartridges), always use nitrile gloves (they are chemical resistant, but vinyl, latex & rubber are not), while using any resin. Once resin is cured it is inert. However, if you are sanding any and all cured resin, you will need to wear a mask designed for preventing breathing in particulates, and wear protective eye wear as well.

I've been trying to find out how to do gathering for 2 months and your website came up and I love your video it was wonderful and thank you for sharing everything you share you've taught me a lot and I appreciate it now I have a little bit more confidence on spreading the white piece thank you
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
Thank you! Appreciate your feedback!
Gorgeous work ❤
Wow! Beautiful!
Jen did a lovely job
Are you making paste with the resin and mica
yes. It’s like making a paste to drop into the hearts. Jen has put a tiny bit of the Liquid Diamonds casting resin (it’s consistency is thin like water), in first & it doesn’t set as quickly as top coating type resins (so she has more work time). . then she added the colours & mixed, then dropped alcohol (about ten drops or so) & mixed. She also used a bit of Top Cell white epoxy pigment paste mixed with any of the mica colours used. The paste addition enables the mica colours to float better.
Absolutely beautiful!! A wonderful video to watch.
Thank you so much 💖
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful ❤
Yes I love Jens results too
Michele, I just found your channel and subscribed. I started my YT channel a few weeks ago only have 4 vids up so far. I do fluid art/mixed media and have started playing around with resin. This video will help a lot. Awesome work, thanks for sharing!!
Wonderful. Happy to hear it! Enjoy creating!
How do you drill holes in them to make them key chains please?
I believe there are videos out there on how to do that. But many crafters put a piece of tape over the area, mark the spot, then use a Dremel tool with a small drill bit.
I love the see through black glittery ones!! The see through part is so pretty! Buuuuuut I loved all of them!
Glad you liked them
Love the feathering!!
So awesome!
То что искала
Wonderful. So glad you find it helpful.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So beautiful! You have re-ignited my yearning to pour. I quit due to financial restraints. This style will be my first new pour! Thanks
Thank you. And I’m glad it has inspired you to create again. Have fun! 😊
Where is the Green?
The green may not be showing well due to different monitors. But it’s on the left. It shows more in person.
I love that your torch is mottled and I am not the only one who works like this :)
Your use of the ice cube tray is GENIUS! MUCH BETTER than using those little individual cups that can be difficult to clean. I just bought it (pack of 3) at Amazon USA. It was $6! I'm currently learning how to create colors of paste using titanium dioxide which makes bright white by itself. Saves a lot of $$$! Thank you for posting this with such a great technique!
Yes, Jennifer was clever to use that tray. Thanks for commenting on her video. And have great fun creating.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING ❤
Thank you! Cheers! Glad you like it!
this is great, thank you!
Glad you like it!
I really think it is beautiful, except for the reflection of your recording device.
Thank you. Yes I’m not very experienced with video creating, so sorry about the glare.
Hi Michelle, questions...where do you buy the boards and what brand of epoxy resin do you use, why I ask about the resin is yours seems to have a lot of time to work with. Tks
Can I use regular paints to do that and regular glitter?
Good quality Acrylic paints & acrylic inks can be used, yes. You may not get same effects as mica powders. Any paint with higher water content will not work well with resin, & may cause curing issues. When adding any colourants, be sure to use smallest amount colourant possible to achieve desired colour, up to a maximum of 10% colour to resin ratio. Too much of any colourant added, can affect the sensitive chemical balance of epoxy resins ability to cure correctly.
Regular glitter acts more like an embellishment, since it does not colour the resin. Mica powder colours the resin, and can be manipulated around the piece. Regular glitter once applied, typically is left in place where applied. because if you try to spread it out, and manipulate it too much, you will have lumps & bumps under your resin.
That is STUNNING. Blending the black and gray looks like mountains and rocks. Thank you
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Very pretty !
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the final product. Looks amazing. But I did have a lot of trouble hearing your commentary, especial when you were using the heat gun. But still loved watching. I think that will be my next project.
Yes, so sorry about that. I’m not experienced in videos or editing.
Love it
Thanks so much 😊
Fingers work better 😅

This is so pretty❤

Thank you
Sooo beautiful!! I was fortunate enough to get to see the Northern Lights when I was in Kodiak, Alaska. They are magical! I love your tutorial and these products, hopefully I will get results 1/10 as great as yours. Thank you!
That’s wonderful. And thank you. I grew up in the Yukon, & went to Alaska for many long weekends & ball tournaments. I was fortunate to see the northern lights dance many times.
😮amazing!!!! So beautiful!!!
Awe thank you.
Beautiful
Jess did a beautiful job
Can mica powder be substituted for the color paste. Love your tutorial
Jennifer did a great job in the tutorial. mica powder will not give quite the same effect. It does still look pretty in resin though.
What kind of resin do you use to create this drawing?
I’m now using iCoat Countertop/Art resin for my resin art paintings.
Thank you for demonstrating your artwork.... It was very helpful to see the beautiful results and hear your comments/tips as you went along. Simply gorgeous art.
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial, your work is stunning 💕. Love your technique.... thank you 🙏
Can you do the heart swirling with just pigment paint or acrylics?
Hmm I’ve not tried that. but you could experiment.
where on earth do i find the art works products,,amazon did not have it,please help,,beautiful work
The sites are listed in the link section under the video.
Where did u get these tiny pots of Le rez?
These were a few samples sizes I made up at the time specifically for Jen (for helping create some TH-cam videos for us and showing her process using these).
Thank you for sharing all the different ways🥰🥰
I have used some similar techniques in my own aurora borealis depictions. I developed a paint from colorshift pigments, and then layered resin on top to show the flip better with the refractive index. However, you've converted me, resin as a medium is a far more organic process. I do have an enormous amount of interference pearls, but the brilliance of the myriad colorshift pigments is pulling me effortlessly in its direction, perhaps your technique and my pigments will be an eyecatching experience. :D
Awe thank you so much. Interference colours are fun to work with in any medium.
I'm in love with this 😍😍😍 thank you for sharing this divine piece! 💖
Awe … thank you. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Cheers 💕 Michele
Жаль я не могу поставить 20👍 то что вы создали это просто невероятно 👏👏👏🌹💓

Wow! Just came across this masterpiece!! I am so glad I found you. I haven't started yet with epoxy resin but I will soon. I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos so please keep making them!! Please tell me where I can find the resin site? Or your blog? I have no idea what site or where. I saw someone mention in the comments
Thank you so much. I’m hoping to do more soon. Cheers, Michele
Beautiful job Michele! Love the ribbon effects and the colours.
Thank you 🙏
