"The New Don Ellis Band Goes Underground" was my first jazz album - got it for Christmas from my dad 1970. The inspiration for me to spend my life playing, teaching and composing music.

Can anyone help me, please ? Last year I heard an aria sung by Jordi from one of his CD's and was composed to celebrate the wedding between members of the Spanish/Portuguese royal families. It was stunningly beautiful and was of about eight minutes duration. Unfortunately, I have lost my notes so would really appreciate your help !! - Brian.

This is a very good concert

Cool! Back in the 70s, I really wanted to be a part of Don Ellis' band as a bass trombonist. I thought this guy and his group were incredible! I never got the chance to pursue this as he passed in 1978. RIP Don.

Great to see and hear this. For anyone else who likes this music, I can highly recommend Louis Andriessen's opera 'Rosa', in collaboration with Peter Greenaway. Many thanks.

J'aime le baroque allemand, italian, français, nordique.. Shakespeare a dit: " Mourir, Dormir, qui sais Rêver"... Ça c'est, pour mois, le sentiment en ce qui concerne la musique baroque.

Thanks for sharing this great ópera. I love contemporary music , and this has been a sort of christmas present. I did not know this composer , and I just can say that I Loved his music .

Was looking forward to watching this. Turned it off as soon as the musicians walked in masked. Shame on whomever enabled the clowns responsible for such nonsense.

I don't think that Rolf Lislevand would like the mix. He is barely audible. Always lutenists/theorbists are discriminated. Of course the sound engineer has to volume them up cause they are always the quietests instruments in the band.

Listened to this marvelous program just two days prior, at Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall), following the day of their performance of Madrigals of Love and War - just on the verge of Putin's attack on Ukraine. Chilling. What a memory!

Saw this live in NYC or Wash, can't remember. The ending was so beautiful but differed from film version. It was sadder.
