Cyberpunk is a work of love, in the animation, the voice acting, the set design, the background music and dialogue. Starfield is just checking off boxes, no passion or love.

Really doesn't help Starfield's case that Maelstrom featured here are some of the coolest-looking bad guys in fiction.

Cyberpunk cut scenes are very dynamic and organic. There are a lot going on in the background: characters doing their own things, screens running, smokes and lightning, etc. People tend to move around quite a bit too, like the meeting in Judy's apartment which starts off at the kitchen then one person breaks off, moving to the window to smoke (while still talking), and finally everyone slowly moves to the sofas. And then the up-close camera forces you to move your head towards whoever's talking, which makes you feel like you are actively engaging in the conversation. I have not played Starfield, but if all starfield cutscenes are like this then indeed it looks static compared to Cyberpunk. The camera switch from first-person to third-person when you sit down takes you out of the conversation too.

At least half the tension here is from the background music, i thikk Cyberpunk was almost unique in how well they used music to add to the atmosphere. Even truly excellent games like Fallout New Vegas never did that. The inly other game i can think of that does this well is Elden Ring, if you here Latin chants you run.

Cyberpunk was never hated by everyone, it never even had mixed reviews. It was just buggy and not polished in some areas.

I love them both. Starfield has better role play genre with deeper impact on your personality and journey. Cyberpunk has better story and deeper characters.
