That was most definitely not 'Severe' turbulence. Maybe light to moderate. Severe turbulence is when the aircraft is violently bouncing between 2000 to 3000 ft in altitude, overhead compartment doors open on their own and carry-on luggage spills onto people's heads, items loose in the cabin float in the air with each drop as passengers scream in terror, and the wings begin to flap up and down like a bird. Most people never experience heavy or 'severe' turbulence, but if you do, you will never forget it.

Then you should fly over the Bay of Bengal out of India to Thailand during the night, when the weather gives you no choice but to pounce on EIS clouds with 900 Km/h, and you have nowhere to escape. This video was just interesting of the nature of New Zealand.

We took off from the same airport last year on our way home from our honeymoon. Felt lots of turbulence in this area too. More so on the landing.

Out of respect..that wasn’t severe turbulence..if not even close to being moderate turbulence. When that plane drops 100 ft per second etc etc..then u can consider that even just moderate turbulence. But in all a great video and a beautiful view over New Zealand!

Thats light, with maybe some moderate. Its not severe unless people are screaming, and the seatbelt is the only thing keeping you from coming out of the seat

Im scared of turbulence. But somehow low altitude turbulence doesnt scare me much. Atleast big commercial planes. I have a feeling that a heavy plane and denser air and usually lower airspeeds at low altitude cannot cause a plane too much trouble. Unless its a storm and you are landing. But high altitude turbulence just feels different and more dangerous. As soon I can make out objects on the ground im usually happy and dont care much about bouncing plane.

Bro. You said severe turbulence. Clearly you don't know the definition. That example was mild to moderate turbulence at best. Severe turbulence normally involves unbelted passengers and crew plastered against the ceiling for a moment due to the severe, rapid drop in altitude (such as found in clear air turbulence cases). It also normally involves a few minor injuries of those same unbelted persons (normally to unsuspecting flight crew in or near the galley prepping meal/drink service), overhead bins that may have popped open, and unsecured food plates and cups randomly scattered on the floor throughout the aircraft. Change the title of your video to be more accurate my friend.

Watching Just Planes videos of takeoffs and landings has gotten rid of my fear of turbulence. Pilots are so freaking calm during a bumpy landing or takeoff😂

Nice clean window thanks to the rain... It may have been the second thing I learnt as a trainee pilot; with cloud comes turbulence...avoid cloud if poss. This was not severe turbulence, just a bit bumpy.
