What YOU Can Learn From the Sherlock Holmes of Due Diligence
Investor Ateet Ahluwalia is the Sherlock Holmes of due diligence.
If you're hiding something, he'll find it.
So, what red flags does he look for?
1. Question-dodging: "If I asked you a question and you answer an adjacent question, you think either I'm stupid, or you don't know the answer, or you're hiding something."
2. Bunk comparisons: "When someone says, 'Hey, we're the Uber of X or the Airbnb of Y,' no, you're not. Uber is the Uber of Ubering and taking cars from here to there. You are not that. Stop telling me that, because you're trying to anchor my perception on the most survivorship-biased focused firm."
3. Snail-paced emails: "If I email you and I'm going to give you money that you need for your firm to work, how long does it take you to get back to me with the answer? That's a big deal..."
4. Ignorance: "If you don't know your competition, I don't know what you're doing, frankly."
5. Bullshit experience: "Do you just have the polo shirt with the logo? Or were you the girl or guy driving the deal?"
There's much more.
This one was too good not to share in full. Whether you're investing or seeking investment, strap yourself in for a masterclass...

Why Playing it Safe is RISKIER Than it Seems
มุมมอง 1282 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Reid Hoffman once claimed that “in a changing world, playing it safe is one of the riskiest things you can do.” It's a catchy line, but why is it true? And where in the investing world can we see this dynamic play out? Ateet Ahluwalia explains... Full episode: th-cam.com/video/s5mcDlFNUJI/w-d-xo.html

มุมมอง 879 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Let me introduce you to the four horsemen of the investment apocalypse: Fear. Greed. Hope. Ignorance. Notice anything? Three of four are emotions. I’ve long argued that effective investing is far more about emotional control than technical know-how (although the latter certainly helps!) By hook or by crook, the best investors can find a way to tame their pesky emotional impulses and overcome th...

An elite teacher will adapt to their student's interests. Would a dinosaur-mad eight-year-old rather: (A) rotely memorize punctuation rules; or (B) incorporate a comma, semi-colon, and brackets into a story about an encounter with a Tyrannosaurus Rex? Whether it’s video games, cosmetics, or, in Audrey Wisch's case, chicken nuggets, a great mentor can identify the topic that makes their student'...
Audrey Wisch - How to Cultivate Curious Kids | Episode 226
มุมมอง 124วันที่ผ่านมา
I’ve always tried to encourage curiosity in my three children and now six (!) grandchildren. My kids often reminisce about my default response to their questions: pointing to the bookshelf that flanked our sofa and saying, “look it up in there!” Over the years, I have become increasingly frustrated when I hear about the stultifying, rote, curiosity-killing nature of our education system. It was...

I love listening to Mr. Sheldrake for both his wonderful out-of-box ideas and his beautiful British accent. As for the telepathy tests- I strongly believe that real telepathy happens when the brain is in a mode not focused on achieving it. So I think apps and experiments where the subject is TRYING to achieve a result it may skew the results lower. Not sure how to test the subject in a completely un-self conscious way, however.

On behalf of the population who have been put through a sequence of propaganda remakes, from mythology to complicated and messier un-testable theories than can be imagined, much the same mentality that holds up fear and death as a reason to obey "God" the authority over war and abuse, has always been the real super predatory problem, particularly when they and their pretend opponents get actual world destroying memes/principles. Accuracy in knowledge, placed precisely in context, is what, how and why inside-outside education is required for everyone, and explains the existence/purpose for democracy in particular.

What if morphic resonance is accurate & Hollywood is well aware they are able to implant concepts into the collective consciousness by bringing it to the awareness of the masses? And remote communication devices like phone and internet cause atrophy of a natural human ability to tap into the collective consciousness? What if stigmas imposed by the psychiatric industry are intended to decentivize utilization of intuition and 'psychic abilities' exclusive to a genetically linked, gifted, subset of the collective human consciousness? We know our thoughts impact genetic expression.

I know how amazing Terrence was and I love how he described what he experienced. . . But I'm glad Dennis was there to try to keep him grounded in believability, though. Dennis made it somewhat rigorous, and you can see what he was trying to do. Having the experiences of both rounds it all out. If I had a time machine I'd go back and watch him repetitively dropping his camera and the winnebago ppl staring lol. You can't script movies like that. 😅😂 I had the full entity experience on shrooms but it wasn't because of bravery. Accident. Nothing was happening so I ate the whole bag. You know if you trip that hard accidentally there is no way to enjoy it. Deliberately going back there knowing what it is like is beyond brave. Even facing your fears and conquering it once doesn't mean the next time won't be just as challenging. Great video, thank you

Dogs are displaying emotional entanglement that exist in humans too but their advantage is that they don't have their overwhelming egos in the way of their intuition. That's my opinion on it. But the fact that there is a medium in which information of all kinds can be transferred seem logical. It's only in recent times that this idea has been refuted. The superfluid of potential charge/ether model seems to account for all the anomalies

It's a short read, but very concise. I believe it addresses the core problems in the biology of humans. Which is ill fit to deal with modernity, a problem of its own making. Julian Shapiro says we need moral enhancement to stave of civilisational collapse. A bold call, but what you're calling for in an update to the humanOS is in the same area, but without the genetic tampering. However I believe it needs to address some of the larger themes - in the face of an updated individual OS, we would need to update our socio-political-econonic system with the new assumptions around human 2.0. Our current system has implicit assumptions about human nature and has been built to accomadate for that - what about those who dont partake. The inequality this creates? My view on this is becoming everyone has a choice to make, and we can't enforce such a choice -

I got seriously involved in Transcendental meditation and was a teacher in the 1970's and have used it and other intuitive ideas ever since. Now everybody and his cousin are gurus, experts... it's become bubblegum for the mass mind. Consciousness is the only thing that cannot be found...everything else can. Like looking for our glasses whilst wearing them. This search for 'something,' leads to all the craziness in our human lives....misdirected awareness really. What is needed is to disengage from everything, what's left is conscious in default.

Mystics like Richard Rohr talk about the Universal Christ. Bhudist talk about Universal Conciousness. Is there any overlap between these concepts and The Collective Unconcious? The first two are states of mind that can be tapped into where a sense of the harmony and unity at the core of being can be entered into experientially.

I think we all aught to be taught to listen to our own intuition. Our fist instinct in a situation is so often right. But other less wise instincts like greed or pride or loneliness motivate us to ignore our intuition. I know I’d have made sounder judgments at crucial points in my life if I’d listened to my sixth sense about people and their motivations. I’d have understood myself much better too

Dr Sheldrake is right about independent research. Getting ones work published though is a mammoth task: closed vaults of journals. . Not worth wasting ones time. It took years for research gate to open for "citizen scientists" Tg for TH-cam who opened up many opportunities. But even here you get easily cancelled.
