these comics were so great reading growing up

Am i the only one that is roling my eyes at the constant lecturing on how bad women have it with the cat calling, people not believing women when they feel sick or pain? I loved the first witchblade. I even bought all 3 of the special collection books that recently came out. I am a bit dissapointed about the toned back sex appeal that it was known for, must be my horrible "male gaze" talking. But i dont mind it that much. What i do notice and irks me is the constant lecturing on how horrible women have it because of "men". And what is up with the inability to just write the swear words fuck or fucking? Why the childish characters? Its clearly ok to say other words... And what is up with the purple blood in comic 3? Was the blood like that in comic one and two? I'm in the 3rd comic now, ill continue up until 8. Hope it gets better and i'm not constantly bonked in the head with the creators obvious political activism.

I just discovered this video and your channel. Thank you so much for dedicating time to such a fantastic series like Sojourn and to a publisher like CrossGen. Back in the day, these comics were what got me back into reading and interested in this medium again. A fantasy story with dragons, archers, an amazing protagonist, drama, adventures... and all so magnificently drawn by Greg Land. I fell in love with it instantly. I hope Marvel releases an Omnibus edition for it, just like they did recently with Sigil and Mystic.

the guy with no eyes is hans from the snow queen he had a piece of an evil magic stuck in his eye and that's how he can sense peoples evils

This comic series is so underrated. I really like issues 9 and 36.

Hey Ryan, new subscriber here. By coincidence I have just started re-reading the entire Sojourn series and stumbled across your channel. Excellent overview of the first few issues. I share your hope that Marvel will add the issues necessary to bring these Crossgen series to satisfying conclusions after all these years. Also share your doubt that they will do it. There are scripts of what would have been the final two issues of Sojourn out there on the web, so they wouldn't need to do much to make it happen.

Just now finding out about The Comics Lounge, Sara Frazetta's channel, and of course, the Taschen Frazetta book. Great interview! I was working on a coffee table book (now published by Fantagraphics Books) for my film 'Teenage Tupelo' at the same time Sara was curating her grandfathers book. The Covid period, for me, allowed incredible focus and I'm glad to see it did for others as well!

I had a crush on Lady Death back m in early 2000’s when I was a kid because I read some of her comics and I couldn’t help how beautiful and stunningly gorgeous she was in every panel in the comics.

Marvel 66 was awesome! Watched the whole series now The captain america was my favorite

Thank you for the awesome review. I totaly loved this one shot and I am super happy about something you said which mirrors how I felt reading this comic. It made me feel like a kid again.

I was reading that comic book at magazine stand in a gas station in Banff Alberta back in 1982 and my high school friend who was with me saw me reading it and ask me if I was going to buy it and I said nah so he grabbed the magazine and bought it. The magazine comic book came out before the movie did and we were surprised when the movie came out because we already had the comic book weeks before they even advertised the movie.

Is this a complete story in one book, or will it be part of a series ?

They took all the sex appeal out of this series. Sara has a manly jawline and and the face of a bulldog and she has pecs that somehow become boobs when she's transformed.

Read all 4 books so far…really like the build up. Ralph was raw, Mikey was silly but still good, Leo defensively dropped some knowledge and Donnie was frail as hell but had the heart of a warrior. Can’t wait for the next issue.

So glad you guys like Rob Liefelds art, so many people try and trash his art ! Rob draws some of my favorite issues and covers!! He exaggerates muscles and outfits, like the "wings" on Wolverines mask are wide along with the points on the boots and shoulder pads, Loved this comic, remember reading it in the 90s

I didn't like the art of Jim Aparo in this one. Specially if it followed that iconic cover by Kelley Jones. It did not flow well, the anatomy looked like it was drawn using toys, really stiff. Some say it was Aparo's age? I don't know. In Detective Comics 664 the art was great.

Id like it better if it wasnt tied to continuity. But for right now, its great. Cause it's focussed on story. But it will be connected with stupid events to the main universe. Ill enjoy it until then. I'd pay extra for any comic book that promised to be self contained and not be connected to any event. Everything by Waid/Mora is great....except Absolute Power. Ugh! What a boring mess of bs.

So stoked Just ordered Vol 1, 2 3 in hard cover. The movie as a kid was so epic
