    Thank you for the video. How do you recommend managing rollover tasks in Asana? I would like to ensure that only the rollover estimate is moved to the next sprint e.g. dev could only spend 2 points on a task with 5 points estimated. So, the task should be moved to next sprint with 3 points estimate. How do you suggest to do that?

    These are terrible examples but I guess it shows how it works anyway. What I mean is that all of your sub-goals are actually just work items, they're not goals per se. The whole idea of goals, as shown by the available metrics types, is that they can be measured and fed from different projects. Like a $ amount or a # of stores. Here your subgoals are just basically "done" or "not done". This is a milestone, not a goal. It's important because with your example, subgoals serve no better purpose than milestones. You could have used "# of locations secured", or something like that that really make sense over several projects

I know I can add fields inside each task but I want to try to reduce clicks. Even adding Inside the task when I close it doesn't show that that task have a file inside. that is very bad if I've 30 tasks and I don't know if a task have a file inside or not, no indication that it have one.

    • @MarquisMurray

      Hey, thanks for watching! Yes, you have two options for that: 1. In the form settings, you can set a default assignee so every time a task is created from the form, it gets assigned to that specific user. 2. Using custom fields and rules. E.g.: Custom field option set to 1, Task is assigned to User 1. Otherwise, if Custom field option set to 2, Task is assigned to User 2. Hope this helps!

    Do you have projects for every campaign channel you have or do the campaign channels fit into which ever main project that best fits. For example campaign channel facebook ads goes to your paid ads project?

    • @MarquisMurray
      @MarquisMurray หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. We go with the second method you mentioned. Instead of creating separate projects for each campaign channel, we organize them under broader projects. For example, Facebook ads would fit into a [Paid Ads] project along with other paid ad campaigns like Google Ads. This way, everything stays streamlined and keeps things organized without creating too many projects.

    Hi Marquis. I really appreciate your videos. I'm struggling with the lack of printing options in Asana. Online help and support forums haven't been helpful. For me and my team, it's almost a non-starter to not be able to print the visual graphs and to save them off as images. Can you address this for me? The repeated instruction to "select the print" function is maddening because there is no print option in the timeline view. Thanks.

    • @MarquisMurray

    This is good, but they Key things for a Project Manager to present to the higher management is reporting, which is Velocity, Burn Down, Burn up, Release planning etc. Can we achieve these reports from Asana?

    • @MarquisMurray
      @MarquisMurray 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Asana does have some built-in reporting features, like Universal Reporting, capacity plans and custom dashboards that can help you track project metrics. They've also added burndown charts to project dashboards recently, which is exciting to see! It seems like Asana is actively working on improving its reporting capabilities. That said, for more advanced reports like Velocity, Burn Up, or detailed Release Planning, Asana doesn’t offer these features natively yet. You’d likely need to customize things or consider integrating with tools like Jira or Tableau to get exactly what you need.

      Absolutely agree.. I have been running PMO's for years and subsequently have developed and delivered executive level reporting for some very large global companies. I have started in a new role with a company that uses Asana. I cannot believe how limited this tool is!!! It is touted as a comprehensive project management tool that has limitless reporting. It is so far from that. I have created a number of custom fields to try to capture risks and issues and then tried to build meaningful reports from these fields. It is not possible and furthermore why do I want to export data and produce a static report and all of the associated manual handling when the tool should be a "live" tool that enables me to simple create a dashboard that can be drilled into from the live data graphs. Sure, I might still want to send a report but why can't I have my execs simply see the data I want them to see and then allow them to drill down should they be interested in the details Happy to be corrected but the tool is limited in so many ways that I am pushing to dump it and go with a real project management tool that enable more than Task level reporting Your videos are really good but saying the tool has limitless reporting capabilities is not true. You even call out that you can't export full reports. Your next statement is incorrect - there are many many limitations on what you can report on.. It is simply not a very intelligent tool if you want to manage more than a task.. Sure, Goals are there. Again, still have massive limitations.. Sorry to sound negative but you were my last hope on creating a meaningful dashboard.
