If you're trying to establish your first career or if you're already an established professional and looking to pivot into a new career, then "Time We Discuss" is just what you need.
The idea is simple - growing up, we all learned that we could be doctors, lawyers, heck, even president. But what if those familiar job titles don't resonate with you? What if there were other obscure professions out there that you didn't even know about. What if jobs existed that were more like acarologist, limnologist, or commercial drone operator?
Well, you're in luck because those jobs and other obscure jobs DO exist and we are going to explore them together.
You're watching "Time We Discuss" -- a collaborative show where each week I speak with a seasoned professional so we can learn about how the person I'm speaking with ended up where they are, and what steps you could take to begin your career or change careers to another which is more aligned with your aspirations.

I like this :D learned few new things and while watching I got a few questions myself. If you make one more podcast with Mr.Contiguglia, can you please ask the following questions :D. Possible some are answered and I did not understood it, please point it out for me if yes, thank you :D 1) What’s a lesson you’ve learned in corporate law that no textbook could teach? 2) Can you share a moment when your legal advice reshaped a company’s future? 3) How do you navigate gray areas where the law is silent or ambiguous? 4) What’s the most underestimated skill in corporate law, and why? 5) Have you ever faced a case where winning felt like losing? 6) What’s the boldest decision you’ve ever made in a negotiation? 7) How do you predict and prepare for legal challenges before they arise? 8) What’s a misconception about corporate lawyers you wish people understood? 9) How do you handle the pressure of decisions that could impact millions? 10) What’s the one principle you’ll never compromise on, no matter the stakes?

So true! I really appreciated the concept (and I'm paraphrasing) - work in a way that works for you ... if that is remote, that's great, if that's in the office that's great. @@Devibaba The information that Kathy provided for anyone looking to be a virtual assistant is unsurpassed. Truly a great episode for any entrepreneurs that view themselves as experts in anything!
@@timewediscuss Well said. 😁 Agreed!
bro in the industry, lets say for example your current company . How many people above 40 years old are being hired for wed dev positions
That's an interesting question. From my experience, it's more about the expertise. If I'm looking for someone that has 10 years of professional experience coding in apps, I'm probably going to get more applicants that are a variety of ages. If I'm looking for someone that has experience interacting programmatically with an AS400 system, I'm probably going to get more applicants that are older. In this episode I'm speaking to the public sector in the US. In this space, at my organization, we haven't had turnover in the dev space in over 12 years so I can't speak to my org specifically. I know that there is concern over ageism in the tech space (and I don't doubt that it exists), but I haven't personally experienced it. All of that being said, devs in my org vary in age from 25-60 (ballpark).
@@timewediscuss Thanks for the insight.
Very interesting conversation. I used to think organization was anathema to creativity, and something of a waste of time, reserved for uptight people. In recent years I've really come to appreciate that you're really not at full power if you're not organized -- especially when it comes to taking action on neglected things, since any bit of friction can derail the process. Having a "clean slate" to work from is incredibly valuable. At any rate -- I had no idea there were organizer organizations like the ones Diane talked about -- and this has some great info for those looking to start something like this. Best wishes to both of you, and many thanks for sharing.
Truly amazing career - if that wasn't enough, I was also blown away at the fact that people take advantage of her monthly specials and continue to use her regularly. Truly, truly intriguing! I completely agree with what you are saying regarding any bit of friction can derail a process. How many opportunities are lost because of lack of organization? Such a fun conversation!

@@sueellenvanclief8095 so true! And who knew about such a crazy opportunity?
And another interesting conversation! It's cool seeing the variety of paths many of your guests travel on the way to where they currently are -- For all the folks out there who don't feel like they have the "recommended" make-up, it's good encouragement to keep an open mind. Thanks to both of you for sharing -- wishing you both the best!
I agree! And I love how Carly addresses higher education and says that if you want to pursue the PhD, do it. If you don't, don't. This carries a lot of weight given her education. Such an awesome story!
@@timewediscuss Agreed!
Really It's a great show. Love this.
Thanks so much! It really makes me happy that I can help people and provide them with information about what it is really like to work in a particular industry. If I can help remove barriers for just one person, that's a win :-)
I loved this conversation -- Real world advice from somebody doing the work. Very cool. Best wishes to both of you!
@@Devibaba yeah - the honesty was awesome. I loved how we were also able to touch on investing in residential and commercial properties. Spoiler alert, I have another realtor coming up where we talk more about fix and flips. It's another good one!
Nice interview.
@@angelavanbreemen5689 Thank you! It was really great speaking with Mickey and I hope that his story is inspiring for anyone looking to be a publicist 😊
@@angelavanbreemen5689 also - if there's another profession that you'd like me to explore, let me know and I'll see if I can find that person for you!
@@timewediscuss That’s fine. I am a client pf Mickey’s and was supporting him by watching the interview.
@@angelavanbreemen5689 thanks again for the feedback! 😊

I'm a paralegal and I'd love to work for you because I am not confrontational either and I love helping people
@@kymaneezmom I don't have any paralegals in the pipeline. If you'd like to be part of the show, visit timewediscuss.com to sign up.
❤🎉 This is great
This was a delightful and interesting conversation - and rather entertaining! Many thanks to both of you for sharing. Best wishes!
@@Devibaba yeah this was such a good one. Regretting that I didn't record our before the show conversation. THAT was a hoot!
@@timewediscuss love that comment!!!!
Thank you for listening!!!! I'm so glad we got to entertain you!!!
@@tamara_fun-confidence-coach I've told several people about your reaction when I asked you the correct way to pronounce your last name. "It's the sound you make when you sneeze" --- still laugh just remembering that 😀
@@tamara_fun-confidence-coachentertaining AND awesome knowledge!!
Great conversation. I think more of this kind of thing will be necessary going forward, especially with the shifting landscape of the workplace. Many thanks to both of you for sharing, and congrats to Penny on her book! Best wishes.
I agree with you completely! Some scars can run deep and can surely hold people back. What she is doing to nothing short of amazing.
Thanks for having me on the show!
@@chrisloper4091 of course! It was really great chatting with you. Your success story is an inspiration to anyone looking to be a private tutor or start their own tutoring business!
Great job, Dan - and thank you so much for the mention! I appreciate it. Great interview as usual!
Thanks, Aaron! And congrats on the sales milestone - I'm excited for you!
