I’ve been feeling a little stunted creatively, so I decided to revisit a video I was working on last July-something that really stuck out in my mind. I originally created the song using Suno 3.5, and despite experimenting with Remastering, it never quite gave me the sound I was looking for. For the visuals, I used Luma and worked with an older version of Dream Machine from July of 2024. I’ve been trying the new Ray2 model too, but it just feels frustrating because it's not fully fleshing out my creative vision with it. Even when I went back to the older Dream Machine model available now in January 2025, I couldn’t get the same style or look, no matter how closely I matched the prompts. It just wasn’t the same.
So, I ended up using all the animations I created back in July and the original track from that time-because it felt right for this piece. The song itself is a piano, minimalist, ambient type of track that I find beautiful, soothing, and emotional. I can almost feel the fingers moving across the keyboard whenever I listen.
The imagery was inspired by a vivid dream-almost a night terror-where I woke up with the word “ink” screaming in my head. This happened during a tough emotional period, so the visuals show black ink spreading across a white background, retracting, and reaching out in random ways. Sometimes it’s fast, sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s strangely beautiful. It represents that blackness taking over, fading away, and then coming back, mirroring the emotional journey I was in at the time.
Overall, this piece, titled “INK,” is about embracing where I was creatively and emotionally last summer. Even when new tools feel limiting, I’ve learned that sometimes the original vision-and the older tools that sparked it-are exactly what I need to express my ideas in the most authentic way possible.
