How is everyone feeling about the ride stiffness of the binding? I prefer something softer.
@@DeakonTeller6995 Have you used them? On the tour up, they are phenomenal. Stiff and you just don’t lose a lot of energy to unnecessary flexing. They don’t respond as well as dedicated snowboard bindings, BUT, in powder I was surfing and chilling. On the ride down, when surface conditions are less than ideal, so are the bindings. Being metal base, they transmit everything into the boot. Not horrible, but i wish they made a canted pad insert. Union has nice splitboard bindings, but I’ve heard they suck on the way up. Gonna be a good composite flex binding for the ride down though. I’m going to ride them at ski area this season to test it all out in predictable conditions when my legs aren’t cooked from bourse of skinning.
@LagmasterB thanks for the review. I have not used them. I pulled the trigger and purchased them last night. I got the freeloader and it came with pucks so I went with what made sense.
@ I think unions are an option. Try the Farouts for a season and see what you think. I’m actually going part way up Mt Hood tomorrow.

Use this to get length (don’t worry about width). Heel against a wall. Paper butted up against same wall. Do this on hard floor (eg. tile, concrete, wood floor). Rest normal weight on foot. Make line at end of big toe. Do each foot. Come back here with measurement and I’ll look it up for you…or google a Mondopoint or centimeter shoe size conversion chart.

@@LagmasterBGreat review! I’m 10,5 US (just measured 25,7cm Left and 25,5 right). What size do you recommend? Cheers!
@@pabloautran1437 thanks man! I love these boots. I got a second pair lol. So you’re 7.5 and 7.75. Going with longer foot, I’d say an 8. That will allow for a good range of thin to thick socks. Get them molded at REI or a local shop. I’m 26cm and I got size 8 and heat molded them and they’re pretty snug. If I went 8.5, heel would still be good and I’d have a little more toe box room. This goes for Vans. Can’t speak to other boots. But most are probably pretty close when you heat mold. You might be able to get away with a 7.5, but I think 8’s would be perfect.
I got burton 10.5 and im wondering if m size will be ok? i usually have Large size byt k2 and voile says that i should have M is it true? Does it come with heel lock? on k2 page its said its have a povot towers and heel risers only? thanks for info
10.5 is tough. Do you have other 10.5 to compare to? Put them on a table, side by side, backsides down, toes up. If your footprint is smaller on newer boots, go M. If larger footprint than older boots, go L. Newer boots tend to have smaller footprints for a given intended size. The pucks have a little adjustment, so if you have like half a size of toe drag, you could negate that with the pucks. Another thing to consider is that the baseplate is massive on these (ie. You can fit a wider boot than almost anyone makes), so the L’s could be absolute boats. They do have heel locks. 4:25. Hope this all helps.
i have this same boot in a 7, i love them so much but lord they are so squeaky lol
Mine are good. How long you had them?
How is it after taking it out? Not as many TH-cam reviews out here any more and the algorithm is always trying to show different things than the search
Haven't had a chance to ride bindings/splitboard yet. Horrible season up here in PNW right now. Slow start, great snow, now rain again. Probably gonna be a lot of late season touring reviews on this setup here on my channel. Wish I could get you more info!
That an old school foursquare mid layer? I have the same boots. Been figuring them out, apparently i needed a thinner sock to help with my terrible circulation. Been great so far. Also rocking a 8.5. they always can packout but never the other way
It is OG mid layer. Good eye. Mid 2000’s. Mine are still a touch tight but getting better. 32 Jones MTB that I flash in there, are up for sale while they’re unused. Harder insoles never gonna pack out in those.
Sounds about right. More wide than tall. “He might not hit the back, but he doesn’t let any light through”.

Hi I own a K2 excavator but looking to add ravine select to my quiver...how would you compare except that one is volume shift...does the select float just aswell?
Yo!! I have not ridden Excavator yet. I was too excited to get on the Ravine Select. I’ll be riding the Excavator maybe tomorrow (1/16), definitely Wednesday and Thursday (1/17-1/18). Big storm cycle coming through tomorrow night. I can tell you that the 158 Ravine floated better than my 154 K2 Instrument (volume shifted like Excavator). Excavator is basically a powder version of the Instrument, in my book. Little more taper + fish tail. The problem with the powder I was in, was that it was very heavy. PNW cement. So it was catchy, transitions in trees were not as crisp as they could have been. I’m taking the Ravine Select and Excavator both with me. I’ll give you a better comparison end of this week. I chose Ravine Select > Stale Fish. Don’t know if it was the best idea for my style of riding or not. I’ll find out as my legs get stronger and I ride more varied terrain.
Ok. Gave the Ravine the full day, with powder and a few tracked out areas. I’m at reference stance but with front binding moved back 1 set of inserts. Amazing float dude. Just effortless. Pick your line and go. Really good at NOT washing out when I cut through powder to bumps. Angry Snowboarder said it best: little damp, retains liveliness. I didn’t get bucked, but you need strong legs to ride through tracked-out snow and chop. Really good at leaving the ground, launches itself off jumps. Again, little lively on landing, but strong legs gets you confidently out of choppy landing. I’d say it’s an A-game board for Advanced riders. For expert riders? Who knows. Nose did dive a couple times and got me stuck. Probably user error. Gonna try to ride the Excavator tomorrow. But man, this Ravine Select is a fun f’ing board.

Those are 2022 ThirtyTwo Jones MTB’s
Thanks! I love the detailled review. Personally, I am at my third pair of Ride Tridents. I mainly use them for splitboarding and freeriding. To me, it's the perfect boot: With 3 boas, it's easy to keep the foot in place and I never suffer from heel-lift. When touring uphill, I just leave the top boa open. Also, it's very fast on and off. I have always found that the more advanced snowboard boots are complicated to get on and off. Sometimes, when arriving on top of a peak, there's a lot of wind and it's cold. So you want to be able to get riding as quickly as possible. With the Tridents, I am much faster to get prepared than my friends with "proper" splitboarding boots. Anyway, just another idea for a boot to look at. What I wish the Trident had, is the snow guard of the Vans Verse.
Thanks man!! Glad you enjoyed. I was so close to getting Tridents last season. Salomon Malamutes. K2 Waives. Both for touring. Tridents definitely on the short list. I heat molded the ThirtyTwo Jones MTB’s that show up in video. Toe box still too tight. Gonna go to a shop this week and get them redone. REI didn’t have a toe cap or any way to punch out the toe box. Liners on the 32 Jones are surrounded by a harder foam, so that’s gotta stretch in order for inner foam to stretch. Once I get some trips on them, I’ll do a review.
@@LagmasterBGood luck! Sore toes while touring…that‘s the worst. I wish that the indutry would cater more to splitboarding boots but it remains such a niche. And all feet are different. One boot in three widths like they do for hockey skates, that would be awesome!
Hey! I was looking for some information about the Vand Verse Range ed and I found your video! On the minute 9,26 you mention (and I can see) that your boots are peeling exactly in the same spots as mine. I bought my Blake Paul 2024, 10 days ago. I used them for the first time yesterday, literally 3 hours until I realized the boots were peeling. Did you find out why happened? Maybe because of the bindings?
Congrats on new boots. I think it’s just the thin outer material of snow sleeve getting rubbed by bindings. It’s a two layer sleeve, the inner probably more durable. We will see how bad it gets. Keep me posted.
Did you get boot liners heat molded?
Focusing on that area (lower boa) In my opinion, the fabric has to much tension, what is more, the edges of the ankle strap are rubbing on the high points of the boot under the gaiter. If you check those points where it rubs, it is exactly where the BOA cables go... So I think this is a bad design. I love the boot, and it fit me incredibly, but it makes me sick to think that I have paid 600$ for these and I have had issues since day 1. I will keep you informed. @@LagmasterB
No I did not... @@LagmasterB
@@MochilerosRastreros I see where you’re talking about. My saving grace is that the snow flap is a luxury piece and not crucial to the function of the boot.

What’s the pros and cons of rotating the high back to the heel edge?
Pros: responsiveness, turn initiation, easier butters and presses. Cons: can push boot forward in binding, giving more toe drag. You can adjust this back out if you have an adjustable heelcup or move binding disc back just a little. Heelcup adjustment is preferable for me because I like all the benefits of toe ramp.
Also, if you run much more than 15° you’re not gonna have enough high back adjustment to square up in most bindings

Nice dude. Did it help? Where did you ride?
I can't believe you actually said its stupid to TIG weld this. You do realize the only downside to TIG is the time it takes right? It's stronger, cleaner, more accurate, and easier to prevent heat distortion. That is of course if you have a capable machine and the skills to go with it. If you learned to TIG you would absolutely want to use that process for every tool in your shop, the real question is... Is it worth the extra time and money that the TIG process adds for this project? My opinion would be yes. Anyone can learn to MIG weld in 20 min. When mine comes in the mail it will be TIG welded and it will have stronger, better looking welds than if I used MIG. There will be no spatter, or dull grey welds, only a shiny weave or stack of dimes, with no warping or distortion sir.
I should have said “for me”. TIG puts a lot of heat down because I’m not that good at it, as I am with MIG. I guess for shorter runs, like this, TIG would be good. But for just some short, solid, deep welds in steel this thick, MIG is quick, MIG is efficient. All I have is a Square Wave 200 and I’d definitely be using all of it for 3/8 steel. Also, it was getting rattle canned nice bright orange. That’s the best thing about welding, many different ways to attack.
Also, anyone cannot learn how to MIG weld cleanly and reliably in 20 minutes.
Thanks for the video. I just got my Finger Brake last night and will be putting it together this weekend.
Have fun!
Cool video. Did you measure when the tires where fully heated up and expanded?
Why my bike has the in and ex in the other side?
What kind of bike?
Have you had any issues with stators or rectifiers going out after hid install? I'm dealing with a gsxr and just had the stator go out and rectifier at 21k miles . Could it be coincidence
Hard to tell if they’re related. Get stator from Rick’s Motorsport Electric. 21k they could both easily go out. Do research on your bike and make sure that stator wasn’t in a place where it sees a lot of heat. A minor relocation might be in order....How many HID ballasts? One or 2?
This is wrong. You measure the riding radius (center of wheel to the ground) and multiply by 2.
Wrong. The tire has to uncompress on the top half of its rotation, so the radius changes. Bottom half x 2 gives you incorrect reading.
Oh yea bomb.com!
Nice Jeep bro 👍🏼👌🏼
Brhahaha 😂 😆 I love your video
The problem might be the stator rotor or magneto flywheel. After replacing the stator and regulator rectifier the charging system was still not producing enough voltage. After replacing the flywheel the output was within the manual specifications 14-15 volts.
Rarely, yes, the magneto can wear out
