i interpret the sealed rainbow pillars as feelings of pure happiness, joy ect that were felt in the past, but are now almost unreachable, sealed away, too far back in the past to truly remember. not just events but maybe even just the general experiences of joy that you can no longer feel, even. the sealing part specficially hints that these feelings are still technically there, but something horrible happened that justified locking them away. i think its also because of how deep this area is in-game that i feel this way.
