you can't really compare those using microphones and those able to make their low notes sound in a real without any gain and IQ. If you boost the low frequencies, a noise can become a something that sounds like a voice, but it's not. Of course, they have all been recorded through a microphone, but you see what I mean. For some of them, it's a musical instrument. They play the microphone as an instrument.

It's not about burping a low C into a microphone, but about filling a church with it in the presence of a choir.

Help!!! Some of you folks might know: What is a good stage mic for live vocals that captures the low notes well? It's like something in our cover band PA is limiting what I get get out front, even when eating the mic, and I'm sure the mic is a major contributor. I'm not that loud at the bottom, but still, nothing at all seems to get through. Basically anything down to a G1. Thanks for any help anyone can provide, muchly appreciated.

Pretty much all of the acapella singers are actually using techniques such as subharmonics or growl while the choral singers as low as Eb1 were straight up chesting it. The D2 in the choral setting may have been chested, and I have met someone who can chest a D2, but the C#1 in the choral setting is an undertone I'm pretty sure. Also J.D Summer is the real deal, but I think he is fry-mixing everything below the F1. The B0 is vocal fry which I wouldn't call singing. Down there, pretty much can't carry a normal pitch.

He's good, but to me, Geoff Castellucci is THE BEST. His lows are clean/buttery sounding perfection....Tim is like those cars/trucks blasting loud bass that rattles everything, and not in a good way either.

Geoff met Tim during their time on the sing off. Geoff could not go as low then as he does now... because Tim pulled him aside and taught him. So, Geoff is GREAT, but he learned from Our Dragon Lord Tim.

Why do people prefer voices to be as lowest as possible than cantable? Guys, I don't understand this ''fart'' below F1 when it is not convincing and does not reach concreteness, and is at the limit. What a friable Ab1 has JD Sumner's (whom everyone praises), and what a graceful and sonorous Ab1 has Tim Riley's. JD Sumner has an ultra deep voice that is soft and lacks power. He is pleasant and effective when he speaks, but when he sings he is not convincing. Or there are those who reach low notes because of strong tension in the throat. Again, everyone has different physiology. My favorite is TIM RILEY, He doesn't have the lowest voice, but that's not the point, he has a perfect ballance, In terms of roundness, resonance and sounding in mix. Better a clear, round, full harmonics Ab1 or G1 than a fart-like or "a hard time pooping" E1 or Eb1 and lower or dragon-like vocal fry. This kind of bass, with such qualities as Tim Tiley's, is pleasant to listen to, he has perfect C3 to G1 register. Although even from Tim Riley I heard a powerful and clear E1 but this is already extreme.
