Maybe like one of those folding doors? I don't know if you've seen them but it could work better then inverting which way the door opens. If the doors opened into the room - depending on the size of the room - it might be a struggle to close it behind you. That's why I'm thinking of an internal bifold door (I think that's what they're called).
