Highway Safety
Highway signage provides a number of different purposes and contributes greatly to the safety of modern travel. In the interest of improving that safety, the posts designed to hold the signs are manufactured and installed in such a way that they present the least amount of danger to motor vehicles that may collide with them. Regulations are in place that, while varied from state to state, specify how a sign post will react when under impact from a vehicle. Franklin Industries manufactures what we believe to be the safest alternative in highway signage support. Watch this video and see why we feel this way.

T Post Installation

Here's how to install your Franklin Industries studded t-post using a post driver, along with installation of wire clips and plastic clips. For more information about studded t-posts, call Franklin Industries at (888) 437-3726 or visit our website at www.franklinindustriesco.com
God bless America
is it really that hard to just grab with both hands and push down instead of spending 40$ on a pounder to push it down through soft soil
Yes, it actually is. We don't know anyone who can do that.
Suggestion…. Not seein on yt. Found a great way ta attach signs to t posts. American Farmworks Ground rod clamps. Used two per post, to hang heavier metal sign, w/posts spread about 2 ft apart, I got slightly longer screws, and worked like a champ!
Are tractor supply t-posts galvanized? Home Depot says theirs (Everbuilt) are. I wonder what real life of galvanized t-posts are in very sandy, humid and acidic soil central Florida is?
I don't believe either of those are galvanized. We have supplied Home Depot in the past, and currently supply Tractor Supply. As far as we know, none of the posts that are painted are galvanized. A non-galvanized post that's rolled from rail steel will actually last a lifetime. The finish will erode within a couple years, but the steel itself will take a very long time to become compromised structurally. Galvanizing will keep it from having a rusty surface, and will probably protect it for a couple decades.
What's the inner diameter of that pounder? I think Tractor Supply might have the same model but want to make sure it fits before I buy it since I have to buy online. The store is 50 miles away.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how do you do this in Arizona. wish we had soil like this😂
My question is how to keep the posts plumb? Once you start pounding, it best be plumb cuz there is no turning back. I can get them close, but inevitably I do mess a few up. Even the one in this demo appears a little crooked
I don't think there's any tried & true method to keep them straight, but it does get easier with experience. And yes, once they're in, you don't want to have to yank them back out!
Thank you! I was wondering what that do-hickey on the top was used for and how it was used.
With a tall post, put the driver on first, then straighten up the post, and pound away!
I’ll bet installing these where roots are prevalent is not fun.
thank you
Sorry, but that is not how you install the clips,
Nice re-do. Things work better and people work better when their equipment and surroundings look better.
lol
lol
I want to see you doing in the Dallas black clay in the summer
Will this fence keep mountain lions out of my house? I’ve had a lot of issues with them.
It keeps the beavers out of my pond
a 3030 will take care of that
You didn't explain which side of the studs the fence should be on or if it matters
Thanks Bruce Willis
thank you for the help!
Very simple and well explained thank you!
How many clips do you put on each t post??
3
nice!
Can I use a Mallet Or Hammer to Drive the T Post in.. I dont have that tool nor want to spend money for that tool that I wont use again
"The right tool for the job" will save you a lot of trouble and possibly injuries. Maybe rent.
Sledgehammer
can I use rubber hammer instead of post driver?
sai chandra - i use a tiny ballpeen hammer. Takes three weeks per post.
Can you use zip ties instead of wire clips? I have a bunch of cable ties but no wire clips, hoping to avoid yet another trip to the hardware store!
Plastic won't last. You can make your own clips out of 3" pieces of wire if you want.
One post no gloves 🧤 I can see it but try 100 without gloves
Great now do 100 in compensatory granite.
What a joke, in the soil here there is no way to just poke it into the ground to start, every stroke with a driver moves it about 1/4" and when it hits a rock it tends to deflect and the post is no longer vertical.
Great video! Answered all my questions on an important project, thank you very much. I just hope the soil is friendly to me when I’m installing it.
Im glad you explained the straightning device, I was unsure how it worked. good information.
You have no idea what you are doing! Not the way you install the T-post clips....You must be a salesman for the company and have NEVER actually installed any fencing!!! You needed trained!!! Lol
Installed 5 miles of clips with a screwdriver in 1986 and still holing strong. What he does with the T clip is a waste of time and incorrect.
Was thinking the same thing.
Agreed
Make sure that you are wearing good gloves, if not you will have blisters on your hands.
JUST SOME LEATHER GLOVES FROM ALLSUP'S WILL DO.
city slicker install.... :)
@Nick West I don't remember now! Good job! Keep that shirt tucked in !
That's not the proper way to install clips. You're doing a disservice to your viewers.
Judson, which part do you take issue with?
@@franklinindustries7598 He doesn't know. He just wants to be a expert. Happens everyday on TH-cam. Nice video. Thanks.
I love the video
You're tripping. He installed them exactly the way you're supposed to. FYI Franklin has been making and installing T-posts for over a hundred years. What are your qualifications, Judson?
Hate it when someone makes an allegation but doesn’t respond. Judson, respond and state what is wrong otherwise hold your peace.
Is there a "power" post driver available?
They're expensive. Google escom 2 Stroke 32.7cc Gas Powered T Post Driver Gasoline Piling Driver. Amazon has one. I use the manual version like he has.
couple hundred bucks or so will get you one from northern tool. I used one to put in about 3000 feet of fence a couple of years ago. it is pneumatic, so you will need an air compressor with a decent sized tank and a power source. I used about 700 feet of hose and generator to be able to reach everywhere I needed. the gas powered ones dont require quite so much creativity in getting air where you need to drive posts, but they cost more.
If you have a small tractor with a front end loader, you can start your posts like he shows in the vid, then come back with the bucket and push them down to depth...it's a lot easier...
The soil I have has rocks and hard clay. Will the post driver work?
This driver will push through some pretty hard stuff, at least with our posts. Lighter stamped posts are more likely to just bend; but because our posts are made from recycled railroad rails and hot-rolled, they can punch through some tough stuff.
